Numerical analysis of convective-radiative heat transfer in an air enclosure with a local heat source
Computer Research and Modeling, 2014, v. 6, no. 3, pp. 383-396Views (last year): 1. Citations: 5 (RSCI).Mathematical simulation of natural convection and surface radiation in a square air enclosure having isothermal vertical walls with a local heat source of constant temperature has been carried out. Mathematical model has been formulated on the basis of the dimensionless variables such as stream function, vorticity and temperature by using the Boussinesq approximation and diathermancy of air. Distributions of streamlines and isotherms reflecting an effect of Rayleigh number $ 10^3 \leqslant Ra \leqslant 10^6 $, surface emissivity $0 \leqslant ε < 1$, ratio between the length of heat source and the size of enclosure $0.2 \leqslant l/L \leqslant 0.6$ and dimensionless time $0 \leqslant τ \leqslant 100$ on fluid flow and heat transfer have been obtained. Correlations for the average heat transfer coefficient in dependence on $Ra$, $ε$ and $l/L$ have been ascertained.

Application of a hybrid large-particle method to the computation of the interaction of a shock wave with a gas suspension layer
Computer Research and Modeling, 2020, v. 12, no. 6, pp. 1323-1338For a non-homogeneous model transport equation with source terms, the stability analysis of a linear hybrid scheme (a combination of upwind and central approximations) is performed. Stability conditions are obtained that depend on the hybridity parameter, the source intensity factor (the product of intensity per time step), and the weight coefficient of the linear combination of source power on the lower- and upper-time layer. In a nonlinear case for the non-equilibrium by velocities and temperatures equations of gas suspension motion, the linear stability analysis was confirmed by calculation. It is established that the maximum permissible Courant number of the hybrid large-particle method of the second order of accuracy in space and time with an implicit account of friction and heat exchange between gas and particles does not depend on the intensity factor of interface interactions, the grid spacing and the relaxation times of phases (K-stability). In the traditional case of an explicit method for calculating the source terms, when a dimensionless intensity factor greater than 10, there is a catastrophic (by several orders of magnitude) decrease in the maximum permissible Courant number, in which the calculated time step becomes unacceptably small.
On the basic ratios of Riemann’s problem in the equilibrium heterogeneous medium, we obtained an asymptotically exact self-similar solution of the problem of interaction of a shock wave with a layer of gas-suspension to which converge the numerical solution of two-velocity two-temperature dynamics of gassuspension when reducing the size of dispersed particles.
The dynamics of the shock wave in gas and its interaction with a limited gas suspension layer for different sizes of dispersed particles: 0.1, 2, and 20 ìm were studied. The problem is characterized by two discontinuities decay: reflected and refracted shock waves at the left boundary of the layer, reflected rarefaction wave, and a past shock wave at the right contact edge. The influence of relaxation processes (dimensionless phase relaxation times) to the flow of a gas suspension is discussed. For small particles, the times of equalization of the velocities and temperatures of the phases are small, and the relaxation zones are sub-grid. The numerical solution at characteristic points converges with relative accuracy $O \, (10^{-4})$ to self-similar solutions.

Multifractal and entropy statistics of seismic noise in Kamchatka in connection with the strongest earthquakes
Computer Research and Modeling, 2023, v. 15, no. 6, pp. 1507-1521The study of the properties of seismic noise in Kamchatka is based on the idea that noise is an important source of information about the processes preceding strong earthquakes. The hypothesis is considered that an increase in seismic hazard is accompanied by a simplification of the statistical structure of seismic noise and an increase in spatial correlations of its properties. The entropy of the distribution of squared wavelet coefficients, the width of the carrier of the multifractal singularity spectrum, and the Donoho – Johnstone index were used as statistics characterizing noise. The values of these parameters reflect the complexity: if a random signal is close in its properties to white noise, then the entropy is maximum, and the other two parameters are minimum. The statistics used are calculated for 6 station clusters. For each station cluster, daily median noise properties are calculated in successive 1-day time windows, resulting in an 18-dimensional (3 properties and 6 station clusters) time series of properties. To highlight the general properties of changes in noise parameters, a principal component method is used, which is applied for each cluster of stations, as a result of which the information is compressed into a 6-dimensional daily time series of principal components. Spatial noise coherences are estimated as a set of maximum pairwise quadratic coherence spectra between the principal components of station clusters in a sliding time window of 365 days. By calculating histograms of the distribution of cluster numbers in which the minimum and maximum values of noise statistics are achieved in a sliding time window of 365 days in length, the migration of seismic hazard areas was assessed in comparison with strong earthquakes with a magnitude of at least 7.

The analysis of images in control systems of unmanned automobiles on the base of energy features model
Computer Research and Modeling, 2018, v. 10, no. 3, pp. 369-376Views (last year): 31. Citations: 1 (RSCI).The article shows the relevance of research work in the field of creating control systems for unmanned vehicles based on computer vision technologies. Computer vision tools are used to solve a large number of different tasks, including to determine the location of the car, detect obstacles, determine a suitable parking space. These tasks are resource intensive and have to be performed in real time. Therefore, it is important to develop effective models, methods and tools that ensure the achievement of the required time and accuracy for use in unmanned vehicle control systems. In this case, the choice of the image representation model is important. In this paper, we consider a model based on the wavelet transform, which makes it possible to form features characterizing the energy estimates of the image points and reflecting their significance from the point of view of the contribution to the overall image energy. To form a model of energy characteristics, a procedure is performed based on taking into account the dependencies between the wavelet coefficients of various levels and the application of heuristic adjustment factors for strengthening or weakening the influence of boundary and interior points. On the basis of the proposed model, it is possible to construct descriptions of images their characteristic features for isolating and analyzing, including for isolating contours, regions, and singular points. The effectiveness of the proposed approach to image analysis is due to the fact that the objects in question, such as road signs, road markings or car numbers that need to be detected and identified, are characterized by the relevant features. In addition, the use of wavelet transforms allows to perform the same basic operations to solve a set of tasks in onboard unmanned vehicle systems, including for tasks of primary processing, segmentation, description, recognition and compression of images. The such unified approach application will allow to reduce the time for performing all procedures and to reduce the requirements for computing resources of the on-board system of an unmanned vehicle.

Valuation of machines at the random process of their degradation and premature sales
Computer Research and Modeling, 2024, v. 16, no. 3, pp. 797-815The model of the process of using machinery and equipment is considered, which takes into account the probabilistic nature of the process of their operation and sale. It takes into account the possibility of random hidden failures, after which the condition of the machine deteriorates abruptly, as well as the randomly arising need for premature (before the end of its service life) sale of the machine, which requires, generally speaking, random time. The model is focused on assessing the market value and service life of machines in accordance with International Valuation Standards. Strictly speaking, the market value of a used machine depends on its technical condition, but in practice, appraisers only take into account its age, since generally accepted measures of the technical condition of machines do not yet exist. As a result, the market value of a used machine is assumed to be equal to the average market value of similar machines of the corresponding age. For these purposes, appraisers use coefficients that reflect the influence of the age of machines on their market value. Such coefficients are not always justified and do not take into account either the degradation of the machine or the probabilistic nature of the process of its use. The proposed model is based on the anticipation of benefits principle. In it, we characterize the state of the machine by the intensity of the benefits it brings. The machine is subjected to a complex Poisson failure process, and after failure its condition abruptly worsens and may even reach its limit. Situations also arise that preclude further use of the machine by its owner. In such situations, the owner puts the machine up for sale before the end of its service life (prematurely), and the sale requires a random timing. The model allows us to take into account the influence of such situations and construct an analytical relationship linking the market value of a machine with its condition, and calculate the average coefficients of change in the market value of machines with age. At the same time, it is also possible to take into account the influence of inflation and the scrap cost of the machine. We have found that the rate of prematurely sales has a significant impact on the cost of new and used machines. The model also allows us to take into account the influence of inflation and the scrap value of the machine. We have found that the rate of premature sales has a significant impact on the service life and market value of new and used machines. At the same time, the dependence of the market value of machines on age is largely determined by the coefficient of variation of the service life of the machines. The results obtained allow us to obtain more reasonable estimates of the market value of machines, including for the purposes of the system of national accounts.

Water consumption control model for regions with low water availability
Computer Research and Modeling, 2023, v. 15, no. 5, pp. 1395-1410This paper considers the problem of water consumption in the regions of Russia with low water availability. We provide a review of the existing methods to control quality and quantity of water resources at different scales — from households to worldwide. The paper itself considers regions with low “water availability” parameter which is amount of water per person per year. Special attention is paid to the regions, where this parameter is low because of natural features of the region, not because of high population. In such regions many resources are spend on water processing infrastructure to store water and transport water from other regions. In such regions the main water consumers are industry and agriculture.
We propose dynamic two-level hierarchical model which matches water consumption of a region with its gross regional product. On the top level there is a regional administration (supervisor) and on the lower level there are region enterprises (agents). The supervisor sets fees for water consumption. We study the model with Pontryagin’s maximum principle and provide agents’s optimal control in analytical form. For the supervisor’s control we provide numerical algorithm. The model has six free coefficients, which can be chosen so the model represents a particular region. We use data from Russia Federal State Statistics Service for identification process of a model. For numerical analysis we use trust region reflective algorithms. We provide calculations for a few regions with low water availability. It is shown that it is possible to reduce water consumption of a region more than by 20% while gross regional product drop is less than 10%.
