Ultimate load theorems for rigid plastic solids with internal degrees of freedom and their application in continual lattice shells
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2013, v. 5, no. 3, pp. 423-432

This paper studies solids with internal degrees of freedom using the method of Cartan moving hedron. Strain compatibility conditions are derived in the form of structure equations for manifolds. Constitutive relations are reviewed and ultimate load theorems are proved for rigid plastic solids with internal degrees of freedom. It is demonstrated how the above theorems can be applied in behavior analysis of rigid plastic continual shells of shape memory materials. The ultimate loads are estimated for rotating shells under external forces and in case of shape recovery from heating.

Peculiar features of numerical modeling of the modified spectrometer magnet field
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2015, v. 7, no. 1, pp. 93-105

In this work, we propose a method of the numerical solution of the magnetostatic problem for domains with boundaries containing corners. With the help of this numerical method, the magnetic systems of rectangular configuration were simulated with high accuracy. In particular, the calculations of some modifications of the magnetic system SP-40 used in the NIS JINR experimental installation, are presented. The basic feature of such a magnet is a rectangular aperture, hence, the area in which the boundary-value problem is solved, has a smooth border everywhere, except for a finite number of angular points in the vicinity of which the border is formed by crossing two smooth curves. In such cases the solution to the problem or derivatives of the solution can have a special feature. A behavior of the magnetic field in the vicinity of an angular point is investigated, and the configuration of the magnet was chosen numerically. The width of the area of homogeneity of the magnetic field increased from 0.5 m up to 1.0 m, i. e. twice.

Estimation of anisotropy of seismic response from fractured geological objects
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2018, v. 10, no. 2, pp. 231-240

Seismic survey process is the common method of prospecting and exploration of deposits: oil and natural gas. Invented at the beginning of the XX century, it has received significant development and is currently used by almost all service oil companies. Its main advantages are the acceptable cost of fieldwork (in comparison with drilling wells) and the accuracy of estimating the characteristics of the subsurface area. However, with the discovery of non-traditional deposits (for example, the Arctic shelf, the Bazhenov Formation), the task of improving existing and creating new seismic data processing technologies became important. Significant development in this direction is possible with the use of numerical simulation of the propagation of seismic waves in realistic models of the geological medium, since it is possible to specify an arbitrary internal structure of the medium with subsequent evaluation of the synthetic signal-response.

The present work is devoted to the study of spatial dynamic processes occurring in geological medium containing fractured inclusions in the process of seismic exploration. The authors constructed a three-dimensional model of a layered massif containing a layer of fluid-saturated cracks, which makes it possible to estimate the signal-response when the structure of the inhomogeneous inclusion is varied. To describe physical processes, we use a system of equations for a linearly elastic body in partial derivatives of the second order, which is solved numerically by a grid-characteristic method on hexahedral grid. In this case, the crack planes are identified at the stage of constructing the grid, and further an additional correction is used to ensure a correct seismic response for the model parameters typical for geological media.

In the paper, three-component area seismograms with a common explosion point were obtained. On their basis, the effect of the structure of a fractured medium on the anisotropy of the seismic response recorded on the day surface at a different distance from the source was estimated. It is established that the kinematic characteristics of the signal remain constant, while the dynamic characteristics for ordered and disordered models can differ by tens of percents.

Optimal fishing and evolution of fish migration routes
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2019, v. 11, no. 5, pp. 879-893

A new discrete ecological-evolutionary mathematical model is presented, in which the search mechanisms for evolutionarily stable migration routes of fish populations are implemented. The proposed adaptive designs have a small dimension, and therefore have high speed. This allows carrying out calculations on long-term perspective for an acceptable machine time. Both geometric approaches of nonlinear analysis and computer “asymptotic” methods were used in the study of stability. The migration dynamics of the fish population is described by a certain Markov matrix, which can change during evolution. The “basis” matrices are selected in the family of Markov matrices (of fixed dimension), which are used to generate migration routes of mutant. A promising direction of the evolution of the spatial behavior of fish is revealed for a given fishery and food supply, as a result of competition of the initial population with mutants. This model was applied to solve the problem of optimal catch for the long term, provided that the reservoir is divided into two parts, each of which has its own owner. Dynamic programming is used, based on the construction of the Bellman function, when solving optimization problems. A paradoxical strategy of “luring” was discovered, when one of the participants in the fishery temporarily reduces the catch in its water area. In this case, the migrating fish spends more time in this area (on condition of equal food supply). This route is evolutionarily fixes and does not change even after the resumption of fishing in the area. The second participant in the fishery can restore the status quo by applying “luring” to its part of the water area. Endless sequence of “luring” arises as a kind of game “giveaway”. A new effective concept has been introduced — the internal price of the fish population, depending on the zone of the reservoir. In fact, these prices are Bellman's private derivatives, and can be used as a tax on caught fish. In this case, the problem of long-term fishing is reduced to solving the problem of one-year optimization.

Modeling the response of polycrystalline ferroelectrics to high-intensity electric and mechanical fields
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2022, v. 14, no. 1, pp. 93-113

A mathematical model describing the irreversible processes of polarization and deformation of polycrystalline ferroelectrics in external electric and mechanical fields of high intensity is presented, as a result of which the internal structure changes and the properties of the material change. Irreversible phenomena are modeled in a three-dimensional setting for the case of simultaneous action of an electric field and mechanical stresses. The object of the research is a representative volume in which the residual phenomena in the form of the induced and irreversible parts of the polarization vector and the strain tensor are investigated. The main task of modeling is to construct constitutive relations connecting the polarization vector and strain tensor, on the one hand, and the electric field vector and mechanical stress tensor, on the other hand. A general case is considered when the direction of the electric field may not coincide with any of the main directions of the tensor of mechanical stresses. For reversible components, the constitutive relations are constructed in the form of linear tensor equations, in which the modules of elasticity and dielectric permeability depend on the residual strain, and the piezoelectric modules depend on the residual polarization. The constitutive relations for irreversible parts are constructed in several stages. First, an auxiliary model was constructed for the ideal or unhysteretic case, when all vectors of spontaneous polarization can rotate in the fields of external forces without mutual influence on each other. A numerical method is proposed for calculating the resulting values of the maximum possible polarization and deformation values of an ideal case in the form of surface integrals over the unit sphere with the distribution density obtained from the statistical Boltzmann law. After that the estimates of the energy costs required for breaking down the mechanisms holding the domain walls are made, and the work of external fields in real and ideal cases is calculated. On the basis of this, the energy balance was derived and the constitutive relations for irreversible components in the form of equations in differentials were obtained. A scheme for the numerical solution of these equations has been developed to determine the current values of the irreversible required characteristics in the given electrical and mechanical fields. For cyclic loads, dielectric, deformation and piezoelectric hysteresis curves are plotted.

The developed model can be implanted into a finite element complex for calculating inhomogeneous residual polarization and deformation fields with subsequent determination of the physical modules of inhomogeneously polarized ceramics as a locally anisotropic body.

Stochastic formalization of the gas dynamic hierarchy
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2022, v. 14, no. 4, pp. 767-779

Mathematical models of gas dynamics and its computational industry, in our opinion, are far from perfect. We will look at this problem from the point of view of a clear probabilistic micro-model of a gas from hard spheres, relying on both the theory of random processes and the classical kinetic theory in terms of densities of distribution functions in phase space, namely, we will first construct a system of nonlinear stochastic differential equations (SDE), and then a generalized random and nonrandom integro-differential Boltzmann equation taking into account correlations and fluctuations. The key feature of the initial model is the random nature of the intensity of the jump measure and its dependence on the process itself.

Briefly recall the transition to increasingly coarse meso-macro approximations in accordance with a decrease in the dimensionalization parameter, the Knudsen number. We obtain stochastic and non-random equations, first in phase space (meso-model in terms of the Wiener — measure SDE and the Kolmogorov – Fokker – Planck equations), and then — in coordinate space (macro-equations that differ from the Navier – Stokes system of equations and quasi-gas dynamics systems). The main difference of this derivation is a more accurate averaging by velocity due to the analytical solution of stochastic differential equations with respect to the Wiener measure, in the form of which an intermediate meso-model in phase space is presented. This approach differs significantly from the traditional one, which uses not the random process itself, but its distribution function. The emphasis is placed on the transparency of assumptions during the transition from one level of detail to another, and not on numerical experiments, which contain additional approximation errors.

The theoretical power of the microscopic representation of macroscopic phenomena is also important as an ideological support for particle methods alternative to difference and finite element methods.

    Transport modeling: averaging price matrices
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2023, v. 15, no. 2, pp. 317-327

This paper considers various approaches to averaging the generalized travel costs calculated for different modes of travel in the transportation network. The mode of transportation is understood to mean both the mode of transport, for example, a car or public transport, and movement without the use of transport, for example, on foot. The task of calculating the trip matrices includes the task of calculating the total matrices, in other words, estimating the total demand for movements by all modes, as well as the task of splitting the matrices according to the mode, also called modal splitting. To calculate trip matrices, gravitational, entropy and other models are used, in which the probability of movement between zones is estimated based on a certain measure of the distance of these zones from each other. Usually, the generalized cost of moving along the optimal path between zones is used as a distance measure. However, the generalized cost of movement differs for different modes of movement. When calculating the total trip matrices, it becomes necessary to average the generalized costs by modes of movement. The averaging procedure is subject to the natural requirement of monotonicity in all arguments. This requirement is not met by some commonly used averaging methods, for example, averaging with weights. The problem of modal splitting is solved by applying the methods of discrete choice theory. In particular, within the framework of the theory of discrete choice, correct methods have been developed for averaging the utility of alternatives that are monotonic in all arguments. The authors propose some adaptation of the methods of the theory of discrete choice for application to the calculation of the average cost of movements in the gravitational and entropy models. The transfer of averaging formulas from the context of the modal splitting model to the trip matrix calculation model requires the introduction of new parameters and the derivation of conditions for the possible value of these parameters, which was done in this article. The issues of recalibration of the gravitational function, which is necessary when switching to a new averaging method, if the existing function is calibrated taking into account the use of the weighted average cost, were also considered. The proposed methods were implemented on the example of a small fragment of the transport network. The results of calculations are presented, demonstrating the advantage of the proposed methods.

Modelling spatio-temporal dynamics of circadian rythms in Neurospora crassa
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2011, v. 3, no. 2, pp. 191-213

We derive a new model of circadian oscillations in Neurospora crassa, which is suitable to analyze both temporal and spatial dynamics of proteins responsible for mechanism of rythms. The model is based on the non-linear interplay between proteins FRQ and WCC which are products of transcription of frequency and white collar genes forming a feedback loop comprised both positive and negative elements. The main component of oscillations mechanism is supposed to be time-delay in biochemical reactions of transcription. We show that the model accounts for various features observed in Neurospora’s experiments such as entrainment by light cycles, phase shift under light pulse, robustness to action of fluctuations and so on. Wave patterns excited during spatial development of the system are studied. It is shown that the wave of synchronization of biorythms arises under basal transcription factors.

Deriving semantics from WS-BPEL specifications of parallel business processes on an example
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2015, v. 7, no. 3, pp. 445-454

WS-BPEL is a widely accepted standard for specification of business distributed and parallel processes. This standard is a mismatch of algebraic and Petri net paradigms. Following that, it is easy to specify WS-BPEL business process with unwanted features. That is why the verification of WS-BPEL business processes is very important. The intent of this paper is to show some possibilities for conversion of a WS-BPEL processes into more formal specifications that can be verified. CSP and Z-notation are used as formal models. Z-notation is useful for specification of abstract data types. Web services can be viewed as a kind of abstract data types.

Stochastic simulation of chemical reactions in subdiffusion medium
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2021, v. 13, no. 1, pp. 87-104

Theory of anomalous diffusion, which describe a vast number of transport processes with power law mean squared displacement, is actively advancing in recent years. Diffusion of liquids in porous media, carrier transport in amorphous semiconductors and molecular transport in viscous environments are widely known examples of anomalous deceleration of transport processes compared to the standard model.

Direct Monte Carlo simulation is a convenient tool for studying such processes. An efficient stochastic simulation algorithm is developed in the present paper. It is based on simple renewal process with interarrival times that have power law asymptotics. Analytical derivations show a deep connection between this class of random process and equations with fractional derivatives. The algorithm is further generalized by coupling it with chemical reaction simulation. It makes stochastic approach especially useful, because the exact form of integrodifferential evolution equations for reaction — subdiffusion systems is still a matter of debates.

Proposed algorithm relies on non-markovian random processes, hence one should carefully account for qualitatively new effects. The main question is how molecules leave the system during chemical reactions. An exact scheme which tracks all possible molecule combinations for every reaction channel is computationally infeasible because of the huge number of such combinations. It necessitates application of some simple heuristic procedures. Choosing one of these heuristics greatly affects obtained results, as illustrated by a series of numerical experiments.
