  1. The paper develops a theory of a new so-called two-parametric approach to the random signals' analysis and processing. A mathematical simulation and the task solutions’ comparison have been implemented for the Gauss and Rice statistical models. The applicability of the Rice statistical model is substantiated for the tasks of data and images processing when the signal’s envelope is being analyzed. A technique is developed and theoretically substantiated for solving the task of the noise suppression and initial image reconstruction by means of joint calculation of both statistical parameters — an initial signal’s mean value and noise dispersion — based on the maximum likelihood method within the Rice distribution. The peculiarities of this distribution’s likelihood function and the following from them possibilities of the signal and noise estimation have been analyzed.

On the convergence of the implicit iterative line-by-line recurrence method for solving difference elliptical equations
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2017, v. 9, no. 6, pp. 857-880

In the article a theory of the implicit iterative line-by-line recurrence method for solving the systems of finite-difference equations which arise as a result of approximation of the two-dimensional elliptic differential equations on a regular grid is stated. On the one hand, the high effectiveness of the method has confirmed in practice. Some complex test problems, as well as several problems of fluid flow and heat transfer of a viscous incompressible liquid, have solved with its use. On the other hand, the theoretical provisions that explain the high convergence rate of the method and its stability are not yet presented in the literature. This fact is the reason for the present investigation. In the paper, the procedure of equivalent and approximate transformations of the initial system of linear algebraic equations (SLAE) is described in detail. The transformations are presented in a matrix-vector form, as well as in the form of the computational formulas of the method. The key points of the transformations are illustrated by schemes of changing of the difference stencils that correspond to the transformed equations. The canonical form of the method is the goal of the transformation procedure. The correctness of the method follows from the canonical form in the case of the solution convergence. The estimation of norms of the matrix operators is carried out on the basis of analysis of structures and element sets of the corresponding matrices. As a result, the convergence of the method is proved for arbitrary initial vectors of the solution of the problem.

The norm of the transition matrix operator is estimated in the special case of weak restrictions on a desired solution. It is shown, that the value of this norm decreases proportionally to the second power (or third degree, it depends on the version of the method) of the grid step of the problem solution area in the case of transition matrix order increases. The necessary condition of the method stability is obtained by means of simple estimates of the vector of an approximate solution. Also, the estimate in order of magnitude of the optimum iterative compensation parameter is given. Theoretical conclusions are illustrated by using the solutions of the test problems. It is shown, that the number of the iterations required to achieve a given accuracy of the solution decreases if a grid size of the solution area increases. It is also demonstrated that if the weak restrictions on solution are violated in the choice of the initial approximation of the solution, then the rate of convergence of the method decreases essentially in full accordance with the deduced theoretical results.

Computer studies of polynomial solutions for gyrostat dynamics
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2018, v. 10, no. 1, pp. 7-25

We study polynomial solutions of gyrostat motion equations under potential and gyroscopic forces applied and of gyrostat motion equations in magnetic field taking into account Barnett–London effect. Mathematically, either of the above mentioned problems is described by a system of non-linear ordinary differential equations whose right hand sides contain fifteen constant parameters. These parameters characterize the gyrostat mass distribution, as well as potential and non-potential forces acting on gyrostat. We consider polynomial solutions of Steklov–Kovalevski–Gorjachev and Doshkevich classes. The structure of invariant relations for polynomial solutions shows that, as a rule, on top of the fifteen parameters mentioned one should add no less than twenty five problem parameters. In the process of solving such a multi-parametric problem in this paper we (in addition to analytic approach) apply numeric methods based on CAS. We break our studies of polynomial solutions existence into two steps. During the first step, we estimate maximal degrees of polynomials considered and obtain a non-linear algebraic system for parameters of differential equations and polynomial solutions. In the second step (using the above CAS software) we study the solvability conditions of the system obtained and investigate the conditions of the constructed solutions to be real.

We construct two new polynomial solutions for Kirchhoff–Poisson. The first one is described by the following property: the projection squares of angular velocity on the non-baracentric axes are the fifth degree polynomials of the angular velocity vector component of the baracentric axis that is represented via hypereliptic function of time. The second solution is characterized by the following: the first component of velocity conditions is a second degree polynomial, the second component is a polynomial of the third degree, and the square of the third component is the sixth degree polynomial of the auxiliary variable that is an inversion of the elliptic Legendre integral.

The third new partial solution we construct for gyrostat motion equations in the magnetic field with Barnett–London effect. Its structure is the following: the first and the second components of the angular velocity vector are the second degree polynomials, and the square of the third component is a fourth degree polynomial of the auxiliary variable which is found via inversion of the elliptic Legendre integral of the third kind.

All the solutions constructed in this paper are new and do not have analogues in the fixed point dynamics of a rigid body.

Accuracy control for fast circuit simulation
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2011, v. 3, no. 4, pp. 365-370

We developed an algorithm for fast simulation of VLSI CMOS (Very Large Scale Integration with Complementary Metal-Oxide-Semiconductors) with an accuracy control. The algorithm provides an ability of parallel numerical experiments in multiprocessor computational environment. There is computation speed up by means of block-matrix and structural (DCCC) decompositions application. A feature of the approach is both in a choice of moments and ways of parameters synchronization and application of multi-rate integration methods. Due to this fact we have ability to estimate and control error of given characteristics.

  5. The paper provides a solution of the two-parameter task of joint signal and noise estimation at data analysis within the conditions of the Rice distribution by the techniques of mathematical statistics: the maximum likelihood method and the variants of the method of moments. The considered variants of the method of moments include the following techniques: the joint signal and noise estimation on the basis of measuring the 2-nd and the 4-th moments (MM24) and on the basis of measuring the 1-st and the 2-nd moments (MM12). For each of the elaborated methods the explicit equations’ systems have been obtained for required parameters of the signal and noise. An important mathematical result of the investigation consists in the fact that the solution of the system of two nonlinear equations with two variables — the sought for signal and noise parameters — has been reduced to the solution of just one equation with one unknown quantity what is important from the view point of both the theoretical investigation of the proposed technique and its practical application, providing the possibility of essential decreasing the calculating resources required for the technique’s realization. The implemented theoretical analysis has resulted in an important practical conclusion: solving the two-parameter task does not lead to the increase of required numerical resources if compared with the one-parameter approximation. The task is meaningful for the purposes of the rician data processing, in particular — the image processing in the systems of magnetic-resonance visualization. The theoretical conclusions have been confirmed by the results of the numerical experiment.

Web-based interactive registry of the geosensors
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2016, v. 8, no. 4, pp. 621-632

Selection and correct applying of the geosensor — the instrument of mineral geothermobarometry is challenging because of the wide variety of existing geosensors on the one hand and the availability of specific requirements for their use on the other. In this paper, organization of the geosensors within the computer system called interactive registry was proposed for reducing the labor intensity of the geosensors usage and providing information support for them. The article provides a formal description of the thermodynamic geosensor, as a function of the minerals composition and independent parameters, as well as the basic steps of pressure and temperature estimation which are common for all geosensors: conversion to the formula units, calculation of the additional parameters and the calculation of the required values. Existing collections of geosensors made as standalone applications, or as spreadsheets was examined for advantages and disadvantages of these approaches. Additional information necessary to use the geosensor was described: paragenesis, accuracy and range of parameter values, reference and others. Implementation of the geosensors registry as the webbased application which uses wiki technology was proposed. Usage of the wiki technology allows to effectively organize not so well formalized additional information about the geosensor and it’s algorithm which had written in a programming language into a single information system. For information organization links, namespaces and wiki markup was used. The article discusses the implementation of the applications on the top of DokuWiki system with specially designed RESTful server, allowing users to apply the geosensors from the registry to their own data. Programming language R uses as a geosensors description language. RServe server uses for calculations. The unittest for each geosensor allows to check the correctness of it’s implementation. The user interface of the application was developed as DokuWiki plug-in. The example of usage was given. In the article conclusion, the questions of the application security, performance and scaling was discussed.

Analysis of a numerical method for studying upward flame spread over solid material
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2018, v. 10, no. 6, pp. 755-774

Reduction of the fire hazard of polymeric materials is one of the important scientific and technical problems. Since complexity of experimental procedures associated with flame spread, establishing reacting flows theoretical basics turned out to be crucial field of modern fundamental science. In order to determine parameters of flame spread over solid combustible materials numerical modelling methods have to be improved. Large amount of physical and chemical processes taking place needed to be resolved not just separately one by one but in connection with each other in gas and solid phases.

Upward flame spread over vertical solid combustible material is followed by unsteady eddy structures of gas flow in the vicinity of flame zone caused by thermal instability and natural convection forces accelerating hot combustion products. At every moment different amount of heat energy is transferred from hot gas-phase flame to solid material because of eddy flow structures. Therefore, satisfactory heat flux and eddy flow modelling are important to estimate flame spread rate.

In the current study we evaluated parameters of numerical method for flame spread over solid combustible material problem taking into account coupled nature of complex interaction between gas phase, solid material and eddy flow resulted from natural convection. We studied aspects of different approximation schemes used in differential equations integration process over space and time, of fields relaxation during iterations procedure carried out inside time step, of different time step values.

Mathematical model formulated allows to simulate flame spread over solid combustible material. Fluid dynamics is modeled by Navier – Stokes system of equations, eddy flow is described by combined turbulent model RANS–LES (DDES), turbulent combustion is resolved by modified turbulent combustion model Eddy Break-Up taking into account kinetic effects, radiation transfer is modeled by spherical harmonics method of first order approximation (P1). The equations presented are solved in OpenFOAM software.

Method of forming multiprogram control of an isolated intersection
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2021, v. 13, no. 2, pp. 295-303

The simplest and most desirable method of traffic signal control is precalculated regulation, when the parameters of the traffic light object operation are calculated in advance and activated in accordance to a schedule. This work proposes a method of forming a signal plan that allows one to calculate the control programs and set the period of their activity. Preparation of initial data for the calculation includes the formation of a time series of daily traffic intensity with an interval of 15 minutes. When carrying out field studies, it is possible that part of the traffic intensity measurements is missing. To fill up the missing traffic intensity measurements, the spline interpolation method is used. The next step of the method is to calculate the daily set of signal plans. The work presents the interdependencies, which allow one to calculate the optimal durations of the control cycle and the permitting phase movement and to set the period of their activity. The present movement control systems have a limit on the number of control programs. To reduce the signal plans' number and to determine their activity period, the clusterization using the $k$-means method in the transport phase space is introduced In the new daily signal plan, the duration of the phases is determined by the coordinates of the received cluster centers, and the activity periods are set by the elements included in the cluster. Testing on a numerical illustration showed that, when the number of clusters is 10, the deviation of the optimal phase duration from the cluster centers does not exceed 2 seconds. To evaluate the effectiveness of the developed methodology, a real intersection with traffic light regulation was considered as an example. Based on field studies of traffic patterns and traffic demand, a microscopic model for the SUMO (Simulation of Urban Mobility) program was developed. The efficiency assessment is based on the transport losses estimated by the time spent on movement. Simulation modeling of the multiprogram control of traffic lights showed a 20% reduction in the delay time at the traffic light object in comparison with the single-program control. The proposed method allows automation of the process of calculating daily signal plans and setting the time of their activity.

Numerical solving of an inverse problem of a hyperbolic heat equation with small parameter
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2023, v. 15, no. 2, pp. 245-258

In this paper we describe an algorithm of numerical solving of an inverse problem on a hyperbolic heat equation with additional second time derivative with a small parameter. The problem in this case is finding an initial distribution with given final distribution. This algorithm allows finding a solution to the problem for any admissible given precision. Algorithm allows evading difficulties analogous to the case of heat equation with inverted time. Furthermore, it allows finding an optimal grid size by learning on a relatively big grid size and small amount of iterations of a gradient method and later extrapolates to the required grid size using Richardson’s method. This algorithm allows finding an adequate estimate of Lipschitz constant for the gradient of the target functional. Finally, this algorithm may easily be applied to the problems with similar structure, for example in solving equations for plasma, social processes and various biological problems. The theoretical novelty of the paper consists in the developing of an optimal procedure of finding of the required grid size using Richardson extrapolations for optimization problems with inexact gradient in ill-posed problems.

Simulation of multi-temperature flows turbulent mixing in a T-junctions by the LES approach in FlowVision software package
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2023, v. 15, no. 4, pp. 827-843

The paper presents the results of numerical simulation of different-temperature water flows turbulent mixing in a T-junctions in the FlowVision software package. The article describes in detail an experimental stand specially designed to obtain boundary conditions that are simple for most computational fluid dynamics software systems. Values of timeaveraged temperatures and velocities in the control sensors and planes were obtained according to the test results. The article presents the system of partial differential equations used in the calculation describing the process of heat and mass transfer in a liquid using the Smagorinsky turbulence model. Boundary conditions are specified that allow setting the random velocity pulsations at the entrance to the computational domain. Distributions of time-averaged water velocity and temperature in control sections and sensors are obtained. The simulation is performed on various computational grids, for which the axes of the global coordinate system coincide with the directions of hot and cold water flows. The possibility for FlowVision PC to construct a computational grid in the simulation process based on changes in flow parameters is shown. The influence of such an algorithm for constructing a computational grid on the results of calculations is estimated. The results of calculations on a diagonal grid using a beveled scheme are given (the direction of the coordinate lines does not coincide with the direction of the tee pipes). The high efficiency of the beveled scheme is shown when modeling flows whose general direction does not coincide with the faces of the calculated cells. A comparison of simulation results on various computational grids is carried out. The numerical results obtained in the FlowVision PC are compared with experimental data and calculations performed using other computing programs. The results of modeling turbulent mixing of water flow of different temperatures in the FlowVision PC are closer to experimental data in comparison with calculations in CFX ANSYS. It is shown that the application of the LES turbulence model on relatively small computational grids in the FlowVision PC allows obtaining results with an error within 5%.
