Reasons for nonlinearity: globality and noncommutativity
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2009, v. 1, no. 4, pp. 355-358

A dynamic process modeled by ordinary differential equations is considered. If a nonautonomous system of ordinary differential equations has a general solution in a certain area, than the system can be simplified by nonautonomous substitution of variables: right parts turn to zeroes. Right parts of an autonomous system of ordinary differential equations in the neighborhood of nonsingular points can be linearized. A separable system where the right part contains linear combination of autonomous vector fields and factors are functions of independent variable is considered. If the fields commute than they can be linearized by general substitution of variables.

  2. Currently, different nonlinear numerical schemes of the spatial approximation are used in numerical simulation of boundary value problems for hyperbolic systems of partial differential equations (e. g. gas dynamics equations, MHD, deformable rigid body, etc.). This is due to the need to improve the order of accuracy and perform simulation of discontinuous solutions that are often occurring in such systems. The need for non-linear schemes is followed from the barrier theorem of S. K. Godunov that states the impossibility of constructing a linear scheme for monotone approximation of such equations with approximation order two or greater. One of the most accurate non-linear type schemes are ENO (essentially non oscillating) and their modifications, including WENO (weighted, essentially non oscillating) scemes. The last received the most widespread, since the same stencil width has a higher order of approximation than the ENO scheme. The benefit of ENO and WENO schemes is the ability to maintain a high-order approximation to the areas of non-monotonic solutions. The main difficulty of the analysis of such schemes comes from the fact that they themselves are nonlinear and are used to approximate the nonlinear equations. In particular, the linear stability condition was obtained earlier only for WENO5 scheme (fifth-order approximation on smooth solutions) and it is a numerical one. In this paper we consider the problem of construction and stability for WENO5, WENO7, WENO9, WENO11, and WENO13 finite volume schemes for the Hopf equation. In the first part of this article we discuss WENO methods in general, and give the explicit expressions for the coefficients of the polynomial weights and linear combinations required to build these schemes. We prove a series of assertions that can make conclusions about the order of approximation depending on the type of local solutions. Stability analysis is carried out on the basis of the principle of frozen coefficients. The cases of a smooth and discontinuous behavior of solutions in the field of linearization with frozen coefficients on the faces of the final volume and spectra of the schemes are analyzed for these cases. We prove the linear stability conditions for a variety of Runge-Kutta methods applied to WENO schemes. As a result, our research provides guidance on choosing the best possible stability parameter, which has the smallest effect on the nonlinear properties of the schemes. The convergence of the schemes is followed from the analysis.

Computer studies of polynomial solutions for gyrostat dynamics
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2018, v. 10, no. 1, pp. 7-25

We study polynomial solutions of gyrostat motion equations under potential and gyroscopic forces applied and of gyrostat motion equations in magnetic field taking into account Barnett–London effect. Mathematically, either of the above mentioned problems is described by a system of non-linear ordinary differential equations whose right hand sides contain fifteen constant parameters. These parameters characterize the gyrostat mass distribution, as well as potential and non-potential forces acting on gyrostat. We consider polynomial solutions of Steklov–Kovalevski–Gorjachev and Doshkevich classes. The structure of invariant relations for polynomial solutions shows that, as a rule, on top of the fifteen parameters mentioned one should add no less than twenty five problem parameters. In the process of solving such a multi-parametric problem in this paper we (in addition to analytic approach) apply numeric methods based on CAS. We break our studies of polynomial solutions existence into two steps. During the first step, we estimate maximal degrees of polynomials considered and obtain a non-linear algebraic system for parameters of differential equations and polynomial solutions. In the second step (using the above CAS software) we study the solvability conditions of the system obtained and investigate the conditions of the constructed solutions to be real.

We construct two new polynomial solutions for Kirchhoff–Poisson. The first one is described by the following property: the projection squares of angular velocity on the non-baracentric axes are the fifth degree polynomials of the angular velocity vector component of the baracentric axis that is represented via hypereliptic function of time. The second solution is characterized by the following: the first component of velocity conditions is a second degree polynomial, the second component is a polynomial of the third degree, and the square of the third component is the sixth degree polynomial of the auxiliary variable that is an inversion of the elliptic Legendre integral.

The third new partial solution we construct for gyrostat motion equations in the magnetic field with Barnett–London effect. Its structure is the following: the first and the second components of the angular velocity vector are the second degree polynomials, and the square of the third component is a fourth degree polynomial of the auxiliary variable which is found via inversion of the elliptic Legendre integral of the third kind.

All the solutions constructed in this paper are new and do not have analogues in the fixed point dynamics of a rigid body.

For solving nonlinear optimal control problem is proposed to use the method of linear quadratic regulation (LQR) with fuzzy Takagi–Sugeno model. The algorithm can be used for the design of deterministic optimal control of nonlinear objects. The algorithm of optimal control for controlling the rotational motion of a space vehicle is proposed.

Selection of boundary conditions for modeling the turbulent exchange processes within the atmospheric surface layer
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2018, v. 10, no. 1, pp. 27-46

One- and two-dimensional hydrodynamic models of turbulent transfer within the atmospheric surface layer under neutral thermal stratification are considered. Both models are based on the solution of system of the timeaveraged equations of Navier – Stokes and continuity using a 1.5-order closure scheme as well as equations for turbulent kinetic energy and the rate of its dissipation. The influence of the upper and lower boundary conditions on vertical profiles of wind speed and turbulence parameters within the atmospheric surface layer was derived using an one-dimensional model usually applied in case of an uniform ground surface. The boundary conditions in the model were prescribed in such way that the vertical wind and turbulence patterns were well agreed with widely used logarithmic vertical profile of wind speed, linear dependence of turbulent exchange coefficient on height above ground surface level and constancy of turbulent kinetic energy within the atmospheric surface layer under neutral atmospheric conditions. On the basis of the classical one-dimensional model it is possible to obtain a number of relationships which link the vertical wind speed gradient, turbulent kinetic energy and the rate of its dissipation. Each of these relationships can be used as a boundary condition in our hydrodynamic model. The boundary conditions for the wind speed and the rate of dissipation of turbulent kinetic energy were selected as parameters to provide the smallest deviations of model calculations from classical distributions of wind and turbulence parameters. The corresponding upper and lower boundary conditions were used to define the initial and boundary value problem in the two-dimensional hydrodynamic model allowing to consider complex topography and horizontal vegetation heterogeneity. The two-dimensional model with selected optimal boundary conditions was used to describe the spatial pattern of turbulent air flow when it interacted with the forest edge. The dynamics of the air flow establishment depending on the distance from the forest edge was analyzed. For all considered initial and boundary value problems the unconditionally stable implicit finite-difference schemes of their numerical solution were developed and implemented.

Comparison of complex dynamical systems based on topological data analysis
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2023, v. 15, no. 3, pp. 513-525

The paper considers the possibility of comparing and classifying dynamical systems based on topological data analysis. Determining the measures of interaction between the channels of dynamic systems based on the HIIA (Hankel Interaction Index Array) and PM (Participation Matrix) methods allows you to build HIIA and PM graphs and their adjacency matrices. For any linear dynamic system, an approximating directed graph can be constructed, the vertices of which correspond to the components of the state vector of the dynamic system, and the arcs correspond to the measures of mutual influence of the components of the state vector. Building a measure of distance (proximity) between graphs of different dynamic systems is important, for example, for identifying normal operation or failures of a dynamic system or a control system. To compare and classify dynamic systems, weighted directed graphs corresponding to dynamic systems are preliminarily formed with edge weights corresponding to the measures of interaction between the channels of the dynamic system. Based on the HIIA and PM methods, matrices of measures of interaction between the channels of dynamic systems are determined. The paper gives examples of the formation of weighted directed graphs for various dynamic systems and estimation of the distance between these systems based on topological data analysis. An example of the formation of a weighted directed graph for a dynamic system corresponding to the control system for the components of the angular velocity vector of an aircraft, which is considered as a rigid body with principal moments of inertia, is given. The method of topological data analysis used in this work to estimate the distance between the structures of dynamic systems is based on the formation of persistent barcodes and persistent landscape functions. Methods for comparing dynamic systems based on topological data analysis can be used in the classification of dynamic systems and control systems. The use of traditional algebraic topology for the analysis of objects does not allow obtaining a sufficient amount of information due to a decrease in the data dimension (due to the loss of geometric information). Methods of topological data analysis provide a balance between reducing the data dimension and characterizing the internal structure of an object. In this paper, topological data analysis methods are used, based on the use of Vietoris-Rips and Dowker filtering to assign a geometric dimension to each topological feature. Persistent landscape functions are used to map the persistent diagrams of the method of topological data analysis into the Hilbert space and then quantify the comparison of dynamic systems. Based on the construction of persistent landscape functions, we propose a comparison of graphs of dynamical systems and finding distances between dynamical systems. For this purpose, weighted directed graphs corresponding to dynamical systems are preliminarily formed. Examples of finding the distance between objects (dynamic systems) are given.

Bicompact schemes for the HOLO algorithm for joint solution of the transport equation and the energy equation
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2023, v. 15, no. 6, pp. 1429-1448

The numerical solving of the system of high-temperature radiative gas dynamics (HTRGD) equations is a computationally laborious task, since the interaction of radiation with matter is nonlinear and non-local. The radiation absorption coefficients depend on temperature, and the temperature field is determined by both gas-dynamic processes and radiation transport. The method of splitting into physical processes is usually used to solve the HTRGD system, one of the blocks consists of a joint solving of the radiative transport equation and the energy balance equation of matter under known pressure and temperature fields. Usually difference schemes with orders of convergence no higher than the second are used to solve this block. Due to computer memory limitations it is necessary to use not too detailed grids to solve complex technical problems. This increases the requirements for the order of approximation of difference schemes. In this work, bicompact schemes of a high order of approximation for the algorithm for the joint solution of the radiative transport equation and the energy balance equation are implemented for the first time. The proposed method can be applied to solve a wide range of practical problems, as it has high accuracy and it is suitable for solving problems with coefficient discontinuities. The non-linearity of the problem and the use of an implicit scheme lead to an iterative process that may slowly converge. In this paper, we use a multiplicative HOLO algorithm named the quasi-diffusion method by V.Ya.Goldin. The key idea of HOLO algorithms is the joint solving of high order (HO) and low order (LO) equations. The high-order equation (HO) is the radiative transport equation solved in the energy multigroup approximation, the system of quasi-diffusion equations in the multigroup approximation (LO1) is obtained by averaging HO equations over the angular variable. The next step is averaging over energy, resulting in an effective one-group system of quasi-diffusion equations (LO2), which is solved jointly with the energy equation. The solutions obtained at each stage of the HOLO algorithm are closely related that ultimately leads to an acceleration of the convergence of the iterative process. Difference schemes constructed by the method of lines within one cell are proposed for each of the stages of the HOLO algorithm. The schemes have the fourth order of approximation in space and the third order of approximation in time. Schemes for the transport equation were developed by B.V. Rogov and his colleagues, the schemes for the LO1 and LO2 equations were developed by the authors. An analytical test is constructed to demonstrate the declared orders of convergence. Various options for setting boundary conditions are considered and their influence on the order of convergence in time and space is studied.

A new form of differential equations in modeling of the motion of a heavy solid
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2016, v. 8, no. 6, pp. 873-884

The different types of the reduced equations are known in the dynamics a heavy rigid body with a fixed point. Since the Euler−Poisson’s equations admit the three first integrals, then for the first approach the obtaining new forms of equations are usually based on these integrals. The system of six scalar equations can be transformed to a third-order system with them. However, in indicated approach the reduced system will have a feature as in the form of radical expressions a relatively the components of the angular velocity vector. This fact prevents the effective the effective application of numerical and asymptotic methods of solutions research. In the second approach the different types of variables in a problem are used: Euler’s angles, Hamilton’s variables and other variables. In this approach the Euler−Poisson’s equations are reduced to either the system of second-order differential equations, or the system for which the special methods are effective. In the article the method of finding the reduced system based on the introduction of an auxiliary variable is applied. This variable characterizes the mixed product of the angular momentum vector, the vector of vertical and the unit vector barycentric axis of the body. The system of four differential equations, two of which are linear differential equations was obtained. This system has no analog and does not contain the features that allows to apply to it the analytical and numerical methods. Received form of equations is applied for the analysis of a special class of solutions in the case when the center of mass of the body belongs to the barycentric axis. The variant in which the sum of the squares of the two components of the angular momentum vector with respect to not barycentric axes is constant. It is proved that this variant exists only in the Steklov’s solution. The obtained form of Euler−Poisson’s equations can be used to the investigation of the conditions of existence of other classes of solutions. Certain perspectives obtained equations consists a record of all solutions for which the center of mass is on barycentric axis in the variables of this article. It allows to carry out a classification solutions of Euler−Poisson’s equations depending on the order of invariant relations. Since the equations system specified in the article has no singularities, it can be considered in computer modeling using numerical methods.

Numerical simulation of the backward influence of a polymer additive on the Kolmogorov flow
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2024, v. 16, no. 5, pp. 1093-1105

A numerical method is proposed that approximates the equations of the dynamics of a weakly compressible viscous flow in the presence of a polymer component of the flow. The behavior of the flow under the influence of a static external periodic force in a periodic square cell is investigated. The methodology is based on a hybrid approach. The hydrodynamics of the flow is described by a system of Navier – Stokes equations and is numerically approximated by the linearized Godunov method. The polymer field is described by a system of equations for the vector of stretching of polymer molecules $\bf R$, which is numerically approximated by the Kurganov – Tedmor method. The choice of model relationships in the development of a numerical methodology and the selection of modeling parameters made it possible to qualitatively model and study the regime of elastic turbulence at low Reynolds $Re \sim 10^{-1}$. The polymer solution flow dynamics equations differ from the Newtonian fluid dynamics equations by the presence on the right side of the terms describing the forces acting on the polymer component part. The proportionality coefficient $A$ for these terms characterizes the backward influence degree of the polymers number on the flow. The article examines in detail how the flow and its characteristics change depending on the given coefficient. It is shown that with its growth, the flow becomes more chaotic. The flow energy spectra and the spectra of the polymers stretching field are constructed for different values of $A$. In the spectra, an inertial sub-range of the energy cascade is traced for the flow velocity with an indicator $k \sim −4$, for the cascade of polymer molecules stretches with an indicator $−1.6$.
