Probabilistic-statistical model of insurance capital
Computer Research and Modeling, 2012, v. 4, no. 1, pp. 231-235The article reveals the necessity of introduction of new economic category such as “insurance capital”. Insurance activity generates a specific kind of capital (as a production factor) – the guarantee fund, which is called “primary insurance monetary capital". The article establishes that, due to its probabilistic and statistical nature, the insurance capital has a number of specific features in addition to conventional characteristics of capital as a production factor. Basing on probabilistic-statistical model author investigates the role of insurance capital in the formation of price for insurance services. In particular, the author exposes that the law of diminishing returns is not universal when talking about insurance capital.

Mathematical modeling of drying of coal particles in the gas stream
Computer Research and Modeling, 2012, v. 4, no. 2, pp. 357-367Citations: 2 (RSCI).Physical-mathematical model of drying of coal particles in the gas stream and the results of calculating the drying of the particles of brown coal in a drying tube are presented. It is shown that for the drying of coal can be used superheated water vapor. Thermodynamic model of drying of a particle in a drying tube are proposed. It allows to conduct a preliminary assessment of parameters of drying process.

The method of feasible directions in problems nonlinear programming for bimatrix games
Computer Research and Modeling, 2012, v. 4, no. 3, pp. 475-482Citations: 2 (RSCI).The problem of the Nash equilibrium in bimatrix game is considered. The search for a solution is associated with a problem of nonlinear programming. Application of the method of feasible directions for the solution of such a problem is investigated.

Constructing of linearly implicit schemes which are LN-equivalent to implicit Runge–Kutta methods
Computer Research and Modeling, 2012, v. 4, no. 3, pp. 483-496Views (last year): 2. Citations: 2 (RSCI).New family of linearly implicit schemes are presented. This family allows to obtain methods which are equivalent to stiffly accurate implicit Runge–Kutta schemes (such as RadauIIA and LobattoIIIC) on nonautonomous linear problems. Notion of LN-equivalence of schemes is introduced. Order conditions and stability conditions of such methods are obtained with the use of media for computer symbolic calculations. Some examples of new schemes have been constructed. Numerical studying of new method have been done with the use of classical tests for stiff problems.

Approximation of the periodical functions of high smoothness by the right-angled linear means of Fourier series
Computer Research and Modeling, 2012, v. 4, no. 3, pp. 521-529Citations: 2 (RSCI).We obtain asymptotic equalities for upper bounds of the deviations of the right-angled de la Vallee Poussin sums taken over classes of periodical functions of many variables of high smoothness. These equalities guarantee the solvability of the Kolmogorov–Nikol’skii problem for the right-angled de la Vallee Poussin sums on the specified classes of functions.

Mathematical model of hydride phase change in a symmetrical powder particle
Computer Research and Modeling, 2012, v. 4, no. 3, pp. 569-584Views (last year): 2. Citations: 2 (RSCI).In the paper we construct the model of phase change. Process of hydriding / dehydriding is taken as an example. A single powder particle is considered under the assumption about its symmetry. A ball, a cylinder, and a flat plate are examples of such symmetrical shapes. The model desribes both the "shrinking core"(when the skin of the new phase appears on the surface of the particle) and the "nucleation and growth"(when the skin does not appear till complete vanishing of the old phase) scenarios. The model is the non-classical boundary-value problem with the free boundary and nonlinear Neumann boundary condition. The symmetry assumptions allow to reduce the problem to the single spatial variable. The model was tested on the series of experimental data. We show that the particle shape’s influence on the kinetics is insignificant. We also show that a set of particles of different shapes with size distribution can be approxomated by the single particle of the "average" size and of a simple shape; this justifies using single particle approximation and simple shapes in mathematical models.

Solution of optimization problem of wood fuel facility location by the thermal energy cost criterion
Computer Research and Modeling, 2012, v. 4, no. 3, pp. 651-659Views (last year): 5. Citations: 2 (RSCI).The paper contains a mathematical model for the optimal location of enterprises producing fuel from renewable wood waste for the regional distributed heating supply system. Optimization is based on total cost minimization of the end product – the thermal energy from wood fuel. A method for solving the problem is based on genetic algorithm. The paper also shows the practical results of the model by example of Udmurt Republic.

The similarity dimension of the random iterated function system
Computer Research and Modeling, 2012, v. 4, no. 4, pp. 681-691Views (last year): 1. Citations: 2 (RSCI).In this paper we consider the properties of the random iterated function systems (RIFS) obtained using a generalization of the Chaos game algorithm. Used for the RIFS simulation R is a free software environment for statistical computing and graphics. The similarity dimension by the polygonal protofractals Z = {zj}, j = 1, 2, . . . , k nonmonotonically depends on the RIFS parameters dS(μ|k) with an extreme value max dS(μ|k)=−ln k/ln(1/(1+μ)).
