Ray trajectories, binomial coefficients of a new type, and the binary system
Computer Research and Modeling, 2010, v. 2, no. 4, pp. 359-397Views (last year): 5. Citations: 1 (RSCI).The paper describes a new algorithm of construction of the nonlinear arithmetic triangle on the basis of numerical simulation and the binary system. It demonstrates that the numbers that fill the nonlinear arithmetic triangle may be binomial coefficients of a new type. An analogy has been drawn with the binomial coefficients calculated with the use of the Pascal triangle. The paper provides a geometrical interpretation of binomials of different types in considering the branching systems of rays.

Modeling of anisotropic convection for the binary fluid in porous medium
Computer Research and Modeling, 2018, v. 10, no. 6, pp. 801-816We study an appearance of gravitational convection in a porous medium saturated by the double-diffusive fluid. The rectangle heated from below is considered with anisotropy of media properties. We analyze Darcy – Boussinesq equations for a binary fluid with Soret effect.
Resulting system for the stream function, the deviation of temperature and concentration is cosymmetric under some additional conditions for the parameters of the problem. It means that the quiescent state (mechanical equilibrium) loses its stability and a continuous family of stationary regimes branches off. We derive explicit formulas for the critical values of the Rayleigh numbers both for temperature and concentration under these conditions of the cosymmetry. It allows to analyze monotonic instability of mechanical equilibrium, the results of corresponding computations are presented.
A finite-difference discretization of a second-order accuracy is developed with preserving of the cosymmetry of the underlying system. The derived numerical scheme is applied to analyze the stability of mechanical equilibrium.
The appearance of stationary and nonstationary convective regimes is studied. The neutral stability curves for the mechanical equilibrium are presented. The map for the plane of the Rayleigh numbers (temperature and concentration) are displayed. The impact of the parameters of thermal diffusion on the Rayleigh concentration number is established, at which the oscillating instability precedes the monotonic instability. In the general situation, when the conditions of cosymmetry are not satisfied, the derived formulas of the critical Rayleigh numbers can be used to estimate the thresholds for the convection onset.

Hypergraph approach in the decomposition of complex technical systems
Computer Research and Modeling, 2020, v. 12, no. 5, pp. 1007-1022The article considers a mathematical model of decomposition of a complex product into assembly units. This is an important engineering problem, which affects the organization of discrete production and its operational management. A review of modern approaches to mathematical modeling and automated computer-aided of decompositions is given. In them, graphs, networks, matrices, etc. serve as mathematical models of structures of technical systems. These models describe the mechanical structure as a binary relation on a set of system elements. The geometrical coordination and integrity of machines and mechanical devices during the manufacturing process is achieved by means of basing. In general, basing can be performed on several elements simultaneously. Therefore, it represents a variable arity relation, which can not be correctly described in terms of binary mathematical structures. A new hypergraph model of mechanical structure of technical system is described. This model allows to give an adequate formalization of assembly operations and processes. Assembly operations which are carried out by two working bodies and consist in realization of mechanical connections are considered. Such operations are called coherent and sequential. This is the prevailing type of operations in modern industrial practice. It is shown that the mathematical description of such operation is normal contraction of an edge of the hypergraph. A sequence of contractions transforming the hypergraph into a point is a mathematical model of the assembly process. Two important theorems on the properties of contractible hypergraphs and their subgraphs proved by the author are presented. The concept of $s$-hypergraphs is introduced. $S$-hypergraphs are the correct mathematical models of mechanical structures of any assembled technical systems. Decomposition of a product into assembly units is defined as cutting of an $s$-hypergraph into $s$-subgraphs. The cutting problem is described in terms of discrete mathematical programming. Mathematical models of structural, topological and technological constraints are obtained. The objective functions are proposed that formalize the optimal choice of design solutions in various situations. The developed mathematical model of product decomposition is flexible and open. It allows for extensions that take into account the characteristics of the product and its production.

Simulation of the initial stage of a two-component rarefied gas mixture outflow through a thin slit into vacuum
Computer Research and Modeling, 2021, v. 13, no. 4, pp. 747-759The paper considers the process of flow formation in an outflow of a binary gas mixture through a thin slit into vacuum. An approach to modeling the flows of rarefied gas mixtures in the transient regime is proposed based on the direct solution of the Boltzmann kinetic equation, in which the conservative projection method is used to calculate the collision integrals. Calculation formulas are provided; the calculation procedure is described in detail in relation to the flow of a binary gas mixture. The Lennard–Jones potential is used as an interaction potential of molecules. A software modeling environment has been developed that makes it possible to study the flows of gas mixtures in a transitional regime on systems of cluster architecture. Due to the use of code parallelization technologies, an acceleration of calculations by 50–100 times was obtained. Numerical simulation of a two-dimensional outflow of a binary argon-neon gas mixture from a vessel into vacuum through a thin slit is carried out for various values of the Knudsen number. The graphs of the dependence of gas mixture components output flow on time in the process of establishing the flow are obtained. Non-stationary regions of strong separation of gas mixture components, in which the molecular densities ratio reaches 10 or more, were discovered. The discovered effect can have applications in the problem of gas mixtures separation.

Approaches for image processing in the decision support system of the center for automated recording of administrative offenses of the road traffic
Computer Research and Modeling, 2021, v. 13, no. 2, pp. 405-415We suggested some approaches for solving image processing tasks in the decision support system (DSS) of the Center for Automated Recording of Administrative Offenses of the Road Traffic (CARAO). The main task of this system is to assist the operator in obtaining accurate information about the vehicle registration plate and the vehicle brand/model based on images obtained from the photo and video recording systems. We suggested the approach for vehicle registration plate recognition and brand/model classification on the images based on modern neural network models. LPRNet neural network model supplemented by Spatial Transformer Layer was used to recognize the vehicle registration plate. The ResNeXt-101-32x8d neural network model was used to classify for vehicle brand/model. We suggested the approach to construct the training set for the neural network of vehicle registration plate recognition. The approach is based on computer vision methods and machine learning algorithms. The SIFT algorithm was used to detect and describe local features on images with the vehicle registration plate. DBSCAN clustering was used to detect and delete outliers in such local features. The accuracy of vehicle registration plate recognition was 96% on the testing set. We suggested the approach to improve the efficiency of using the ResNeXt-101-32x8d model at additional training and classification stages. The approach is based on the new architecture of convolutional neural networks with “freezing” weight coefficients of convolutional layers, an additional convolutional layer for parallelizing the classification process, and a set of binary classifiers at the output. This approach significantly reduced the time of additional training of neural network when new vehicle brand/model classification was needed. The final accuracy of vehicle brand/model classification was 99% on the testing set. The proposed approaches were tested and implemented in the DSS of the CARAO of the Republic of Tatarstan.

The problem of choosing solutions in the classical format of the description of a molecular system
Computer Research and Modeling, 2023, v. 15, no. 6, pp. 1573-1600The numerical methods developed by the author recently for calculating the molecular system based on the direct solution of the Schrodinger equation by the Monte Carlo method have shown a huge uncertainty in the choice of solutions. On the one hand, it turned out to be possible to build many new solutions; on the other hand, the problem of their connection with reality has become sharply aggravated. In ab initio quantum mechanical calculations, the problem of choosing solutions is not so acute after the transition to the classical format of describing a molecular system in terms of potential energy, the method of molecular dynamics, etc. In this paper, we investigate the problem of choosing solutions in the classical format of describing a molecular system without taking into account quantum mechanical prerequisites. As it turned out, the problem of choosing solutions in the classical format of describing a molecular system is reduced to a specific marking of the configuration space in the form of a set of stationary points and reconstruction of the corresponding potential energy function. In this formulation, the solution of the choice problem is reduced to two possible physical and mathematical problems: to find all its stationary points for a given potential energy function (the direct problem of the choice problem), to reconstruct the potential energy function for a given set of stationary points (the inverse problem of the choice problem). In this paper, using a computational experiment, the direct problem of the choice problem is discussed using the example of a description of a monoatomic cluster. The number and shape of the locally equilibrium (saddle) configurations of the binary potential are numerically estimated. An appropriate measure is introduced to distinguish configurations in space. The format of constructing the entire chain of multiparticle contributions to the potential energy function is proposed: binary, threeparticle, etc., multiparticle potential of maximum partiality. An infinite number of locally equilibrium (saddle) configurations for the maximum multiparticle potential is discussed and illustrated. A method of variation of the number of stationary points by combining multiparticle contributions to the potential energy function is proposed. The results of the work listed above are aimed at reducing the huge arbitrariness of the choice of the form of potential that is currently taking place. Reducing the arbitrariness of choice is expressed in the fact that the available knowledge about the set of a very specific set of stationary points is consistent with the corresponding form of the potential energy function.

Bibliographic link prediction using contrast resampling technique
Computer Research and Modeling, 2021, v. 13, no. 6, pp. 1317-1336The paper studies the problem of searching for fragments with missing bibliographic links in a scientific article using automatic binary classification. To train the model, we propose a new contrast resampling technique, the innovation of which is the consideration of the context of the link, taking into account the boundaries of the fragment, which mostly affects the probability of presence of a bibliographic links in it. The training set was formed of automatically labeled samples that are fragments of three sentences with class labels «without link» and «with link» that satisfy the requirement of contrast: samples of different classes are distanced in the source text. The feature space was built automatically based on the term occurrence statistics and was expanded by constructing additional features — entities (names, numbers, quotes and abbreviations) recognized in the text.
A series of experiments was carried out on the archives of the scientific journals «Law enforcement review» (273 articles) and «Journal Infectology» (684 articles). The classification was carried out by the models Nearest Neighbors, RBF SVM, Random Forest, Multilayer Perceptron, with the selection of optimal hyperparameters for each classifier.
Experiments have confirmed the hypothesis put forward. The highest accuracy was reached by the neural network classifier (95%), which is however not as fast as the linear one that showed also high accuracy with contrast resampling (91–94%). These values are superior to those reported for NER and Sentiment Analysis on comparable data. The high computational efficiency of the proposed method makes it possible to integrate it into applied systems and to process documents online.
