Parallel implementation of numerical algorithm of solving coupled internal ballistics modelling problem for solid rocket motors
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2021, v. 13, no. 1, pp. 47-65

We present a physico-mathematical statement of coupled geometrical and gas dynamics problem of intrachamber processes simulation and calculation of main internal ballistics characteristics of solid rocket motors in axisymmetric approximation. Method and numerical algorithm of solving the problem are described in this paper. We track the propellant burning surface using the level set method. This method allows us to implicitly represent the surface on a fixed Cartesian grid as zero-level of some function. Two-dimensional gas-dynamics equations describe a flow of combustion products in a solid rocket motor. Due to inconsistency of domain boundaries and nodes of computational grid, presence of ghost points lying outside the computational domain is taken into account. For setting the values of flow parameters in ghost points, we use the inverse Lax – Wendroff procedure. We discretize spatial derivatives of level set and gas-dynamics equations with standard WENO schemes of fifth and third-order respectively and time derivatives using total variation diminishing Runge –Kutta methods. We parallelize the presented numerical algorithm using CUDA technology and further optimize it with regard to peculiarities of graphics processors architecture.

Created software package is used for calculating internal ballistics characteristics of nozzleless solid rocket motor during main firing phase. On the base of obtained numerical results, we discuss efficiency of parallelization using CUDA technology and applying considered optimizations. It has been shown that implemented parallelization technique leads to a significant acceleration in comparison with central processes. Distributions of key parameters of combustion products flow in different periods of time have been presented in this paper. We make a comparison of obtained results between quasione-dimensional approach and developed numerical technique.

The model sound speed determination for the plane shear fluid flow problem solving by the SPH method
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2024, v. 16, no. 2, pp. 339-351

The problem discrete statement by the smoothed particle hydrodynamics method (SPH) include a discretization constants parameters set. Of them particular note is the model sound speed $c_0$, which relates the SPH-particle instantaneous density to the resulting pressure through the equation of state.

The paper describes an approach to the exact determination of the model sound speed required value. It is on the analysis based, how SPH-particle density changes with their relative shift. An example of the continuous medium motion taken the plane shear flow problem; the analysis object is the relative compaction function $\varepsilon_\rho$ in the SPH-particle. For various smoothing kernels was research the functions of $\varepsilon_\rho$, that allowed the pulsating nature of the pressures occurrence in particles to establish. Also the neighbors uniform distribution in the smoothing domain was determined, at which shaping the maximum of compaction in the particle.

Through comparison the function $\varepsilon_\rho$ with the SPH-approximation of motion equation is defined associate the discretization parameter $c_0$ with the smoothing kernel shape and other problem parameters. As a result, an equation is formulated that the necessary and sufficient model sound speed value provides finding. For such equation the expressions of root $c_0$ are given for three different smoothing kernels, that simplified from polynomials to numerical coefficients for the plane shear flow problem parameters.

Mathematical modeling of hydrodynamics problems of the Azov Sea on a multiprocessor computer system
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2024, v. 16, no. 3, pp. 647-672

The article is devoted to modeling the shallow water hydrodynamic processes using the example of the Azov Sea. The article presents a mathematical model of the hydrodynamics of a shallow water body, which allows one to calculate three-dimensional fields of the velocity vector of movement of the aquatic environment. Application of regularizers according to B.N.Chetverushkin in the continuity equation led to a change in the method of calculating the pressure field, based on solving the wave equation. A discrete finite-difference scheme has been constructed for calculating pressure in an area whose linear vertical dimensions are significantly smaller than those in horizontal coordinate directions, which is typical for the geometry of shallow water bodies. The method and algorithm for solving grid equations with a tridiagonal preconditioner are described. The proposed method is used to solve grid equations that arise when calculating pressure for the three-dimensional problem of hydrodynamics of the Azov Sea. It is shown that the proposed method converges faster than the modified alternating triangular method. A parallel implementation of the proposed method for solving grid equations is presented and theoretical and practical estimates of the acceleration of the algorithm are carried out taking into account the latency time of the computing system. The results of computational experiments for solving problems of hydrodynamics of the Sea of Azov using the hybrid MPI + OpenMP technology are presented. The developed models and algorithms were used to reconstruct the environmental disaster that occurred in the Sea of Azov in 2001 and to solve the problem of the movement of the aquatic environment in estuary areas. Numerical experiments were carried out on the K-60 hybrid computing cluster of the Keldysh Institute of Applied Mathematics of Russian Academy of Sciences.

Incomplete systems of linear equations with restrictions of variable values
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2014, v. 6, no. 5, pp. 719-745

The problem is formulated for description of objects having various natures which uses a system of linear equations with variable number exceeding the number of the equations. An important feature of this problem that substantially complicates its solving is the existing of restrictions imposed on a number of the variables. In particular, the choice of biochemical reaction aggregate that converts a preset substrate (a feedstock) into a preset product belongs to this kind of problems. In this case, unknown variables are the rates of biochemical reactions which form a vector to be determined. Components of this vector are subdivided into two groups: 1) the defined components, $\vec{y}$; 2) those dependent on the defined ones, $\vec{x}$. Possible configurations of the domain of $\vec{y}$ values permitted by restrictions imposed upon $\vec{x}$ components have been studied. It has been found that a part of restrictions may be superfluous and, therefore, unnecessary for the problem solving. Situations are analyzed when two or more $\vec{x}$ restrictions result in strict interconnections between $\vec{y}$ components. Methods of search of the basis solutions which take into account the peculiarities of this problem are described. Statement of the general problem and properties of its solutions are illustrated using a biochemical example.

Peculiar features of numerical modeling of the modified spectrometer magnet field
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2015, v. 7, no. 1, pp. 93-105

In this work, we propose a method of the numerical solution of the magnetostatic problem for domains with boundaries containing corners. With the help of this numerical method, the magnetic systems of rectangular configuration were simulated with high accuracy. In particular, the calculations of some modifications of the magnetic system SP-40 used in the NIS JINR experimental installation, are presented. The basic feature of such a magnet is a rectangular aperture, hence, the area in which the boundary-value problem is solved, has a smooth border everywhere, except for a finite number of angular points in the vicinity of which the border is formed by crossing two smooth curves. In such cases the solution to the problem or derivatives of the solution can have a special feature. A behavior of the magnetic field in the vicinity of an angular point is investigated, and the configuration of the magnet was chosen numerically. The width of the area of homogeneity of the magnetic field increased from 0.5 m up to 1.0 m, i. e. twice.

    Bottom stability in closed conduits
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2015, v. 7, no. 5, pp. 1061-1068

In this paper on the basis of the riverbed model proposed earlier the one-dimensional stability problem of closed flow channel with sandy bed is solved. The feature of the investigated problem is used original equation of riverbed deformations, which takes into account the influence of mechanical and granulometric bed material characteristics and the bed slope when riverbed analyzing. Another feature of the discussed problem is the consideration together with shear stress influence normal stress influence when investigating the riverbed instability. The analytical dependence determined the wave length of fast-growing bed perturbations is obtained from the solution of the sandy bed stability problem for closed flow channel. The analysis of the obtained analytical dependence is performed. It is shown that the obtained dependence generalizes the row of well-known empirical formulas: Coleman, Shulyak and Bagnold. The structure of the obtained analytical dependence denotes the existence of two hydrodynamic regimes characterized by the Froude number, at which the bed perturbations growth can strongly or weakly depend on the Froude number. Considering a natural stochasticity of the waves movement process and the presence of a definition domain of the solution with a weak dependence on the Froude numbers it can be concluded that the experimental observation of the of the bed waves movement development should lead to the data acquisition with a significant dispersion and it occurs in reality.

Construction of adaptive mesh in the domain with boundary «corner point» of ferromagnetic in the numerical simulation of magnetic systems
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2016, v. 8, no. 1, pp. 89-99

At numerical solving of the boundary-value problem of magnetostatic in a domain with a boundary corner point, a question of accuracy of the obtained solution near the corner point of ferromagnetic arises [Zhidkov, Perepelkin, 2001]. Near the corner point an essential growth of the module of the magnetic field can take place, which leads to the necessity of constructing special numerical algorithms when solving the boundary-value problem. This work represents an algorithm of constructing an adaptive mesh in the domain with a boundary corner point of ferromagnetic taking into account the character of behaviour of the solution of the boundary-value problem. An example of calculating a model problem in the domain containing a corner point is given.

Game-theoretic model of coordinations of interests at innovative development of corporations
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2016, v. 8, no. 4, pp. 673-684

Dynamic game theoretic models of the corporative innovative development are investigated. The proposed models are based on concordance of private and public interests of agents. It is supposed that the structure of interests of each agent includes both private (personal interests) and public (interests of the whole company connected with its innovative development first) components. The agents allocate their personal resources between these two directions. The system dynamics is described by a difference (not differential) equation. The proposed model of innovative development is studied by simulation and the method of enumeration of the domains of feasible controls with a constant step. The main contribution of the paper consists in comparative analysis of efficiency of the methods of hierarchical control (compulsion or impulsion) for information structures of Stackelberg or Germeier (four structures) by means of the indices of system compatibility. The proposed model is a universal one and can be used for a scientifically grounded support of the programs of innovative development of any economic firm. The features of a specific company are considered in the process of model identification (a determination of the specific classes of model functions and numerical values of its parameters) which forms a separate complex problem and requires an analysis of the statistical data and expert estimations. The following assumptions about information rules of the hierarchical game are accepted: all players use open-loop strategies; the leader chooses and reports to the followers some values of administrative (compulsion) or economic (impulsion) control variables which can be only functions of time (Stackelberg games) or depend also on the followers’ controls (Germeier games); given the leader’s strategies all followers simultaneously and independently choose their strategies that gives a Nash equilibrium in the followers’ game. For a finite number of iterations the proposed algorithm of simulation modeling allows to build an approximate solution of the model or to conclude that it doesn’t exist. A reliability and efficiency of the proposed algorithm follow from the properties of the scenario method and the method of a direct ordered enumeration with a constant step. Some comprehensive conclusions about the comparative efficiency of methods of hierarchical control of innovations are received.

Numerical simulation of ice accretion in FlowVision software
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2020, v. 12, no. 1, pp. 83-96

Certifying a transport airplane for the flights under icing conditions requires calculations aimed at definition of the dimensions and shapes of the ice bodies formed on the airplane surfaces. Up to date, software developed in Russia for simulation of ice accretion, which would be authorized by Russian certifying supervisory authority, is absent. This paper describes methodology IceVision recently developed in Russia on the basis of software FlowVision for calculations of ice accretion on airplane surfaces.

The main difference of methodology IceVision from the other approaches, known from literature, consists in using technology Volume Of Fluid (VOF — volume of fluid in cell) for tracking the surface of growing ice body. The methodology assumes solving a time-depended problem of continuous grows of ice body in the Euler formulation. The ice is explicitly present in the computational domain. The energy equation is integrated inside the ice body. In the other approaches, changing the ice shape is taken into account by means of modifying the aerodynamic surface and using Lagrangian mesh. In doing so, the heat transfer into ice is allowed for by an empirical model.

The implemented mathematical model provides capability to simulate formation of rime (dry) and glaze (wet) ice. It automatically identifies zones of rime and glaze ice. In a rime (dry) ice zone, the temperature of the contact surface between air and ice is calculated with account of ice sublimation and heat conduction inside the ice. In a glaze (wet) ice zone, the flow of the water film over the ice surface is allowed for. The film freezes due to evaporation and heat transfer inside the air and the ice. Methodology IceVision allows for separation of the film. For simulation of the two-phase flow of the air and droplets, a multi-speed model is used within the Euler approach. Methodology IceVision allows for size distribution of droplets. The computational algorithm takes account of essentially different time scales for the physical processes proceeding in the course of ice accretion, viz., air-droplets flow, water flow, and ice growth. Numerical solutions of validation test problems demonstrate efficiency of methodology IceVision and reliability of FlowVision results.
