On the mechanisms for formation of segmented waves in active media
Computer Research and Modeling, 2013, v. 5, no. 4, pp. 533-542Citations: 3 (RSCI).We suggest three possible mechanisms for formation of segmented waves and spirals. These structures were observed in the Belousov–Zhabotinsky reaction dispersed in a water-in-oil aerosol OT microemulsion. The first mechanism is caused by interaction of two coupled subsystems, one of which is excitable, and the other one has Turing instability depending on the parameters. It is shown that, segmented spirals evolve from ordinary smooth spirals as a result of the transverse Turing instability. We demonstrate that depending on the properties of subsystems different segmented spirals emerge. For the second mechanism we suggest "splitting" of the traveling wave in the vicinity of the bifurcation point of codimension-2, where the boundaries of the Turing and wave instabilities intersect. Finally we show that the segmented waves can emerge in some simple two-component reaction-diffusion models having more than one steady state, particularly in a FitzHugh–Nagumo model.

Nonlinear boudary value problem in the case of parametric resonance
Computer Research and Modeling, 2015, v. 7, no. 4, pp. 821-833Views (last year): 2.We construct necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of solution of seminonlinear matrix boundary value problem for a parametric excitation system of ordinary differential equations. The convergent iteration algorithms for the construction of the solutions of the semi-nonlinear matrix boundary value problem for a parametric excitation system differential equations in the critical case have been found. Using the convergent iteration algorithms we expand solution of seminonlinear periodical boundary value problem for a parametric excitation Riccati type equation in the neighborhood of the generating solution. Estimates for the value of residual of the solutions of the seminonlinear periodical boundary value problem for a parametric excitation Riccati type equation are found.

The mechanism of formation of oscillons — localized oscillatory structures
Computer Research and Modeling, 2015, v. 7, no. 6, pp. 1177-1184Views (last year): 6. Citations: 1 (RSCI).A formal model mechanism of oscillon formation is proposed. These structures were found in a variety of physical systems and a chemical Belousov–Jabotinsky reaction proceeding in an aerosol OT water-inoil microemulsion. Via the proposed mechanism oscillons occur as a result of interaction of two subsystems. In the first subsystem for a proper set of parameters solitary stationary structures may arise as a result of hard local excitation. These structures influence spatial distribution of the second subsystem parameter that leads to local oscillations in the subsystem.

Excitement of solitons in the interaction of kinks of sine-Gordon equation with attracting impurity
Computer Research and Modeling, 2012, v. 4, no. 3, pp. 509-520Citations: 5 (RSCI).We investigate analytically and numerically the structure and properties of localized two- and three-kink solutions of the sine-Gordon equation, which are excited in the region of the attracting impurity. We have considered cases of single and double spatially extended impurity.

Simulation of rail vehicles ride in Simpack Rail on the curved track
Computer Research and Modeling, 2019, v. 11, no. 2, pp. 249-263Views (last year): 20.The paper studies the determination for one of the dynamic quality parameter (PDK) of railway vehicles — car body lateral acceleration — by using of computer simulation system for railway vehicles dynamic Simpack Rail. This provide the complex simulation environment with variable velocity depending on the train schedule. The rail vehicle model of typical 1520 mm gauge fright locomotive section used for simulation has been verified by means of the chair “Electric multiple unit cars and locomotives” in the Russian University of Transport (RUT (MIIT)). Due to this homologation the questions of model creating and verification in preprocessor are excluded in this paper. The paper gives the detail description of cartographic track modeling in situation plane, heights plane and superelevation plane based on the real operating data. The statistic parameters (moments) for the rail related track excitation and used cartographic track data of the specified track section in this simulation are given as a numeric and graphical results of reading the prepared data files. The measurement of the car body residual lateral acceleration occur under consideration of the earth gravity acceleration part like the accelerometer measurement in the real world. Finally the desired quality parameter determined by simulation is compared with the same one given by a test drive. The calculation method in both cases is based on the middle value of the absolute maximums picked up within the nonstationary realizations of this parameter. Compared results confirm that this quality factor all the first depends on the velocity and track geometry properties. The simulation of the track in this application uses the strong conformity original track data of the test ride track section. The accepted simplification in the rail vehicle model of fright electric locomotive section (body properties related to the center of gravity, small displacements between the bodies) by keeping the geometric and force law characteristics of the force elements and constraints constant allow in Simpack Rail the simulation with necessary validity of system behavior (reactions).

Numerical modeling of the Kolmogorov flow in a viscous media, forced by the static force periodic in space
Computer Research and Modeling, 2022, v. 14, no. 4, pp. 741-753The main feature of a two-dimensional turbulent flow, constantly excited by an external force, is the appearance of an inverse energy cascade. Due to nonlinear effects, the spatial scale of the vortices created by the external force increases until the growth is stopped by the size of the cell. In the latter case, energy is accumulated at these dimensions. Under certain conditions, accumulation leads to the appearance of a system of coherent vortices. The observed vortices are of the order of the box size and, on average, are isotropic. Numerical simulation is an effective way to study such the processes. Of particular interest is the problem of studying the viscous fluid turbulence in a square cell under excitation by short-wave and long-wave static external forces. Numerical modeling was carried out with a weakly compressible fluid in a two-dimensional square cell with zero boundary conditions. The work shows how the flow characteristics are influenced by the spatial frequency of the external force and the magnitude of the viscosity of the fluid itself. An increase in the spatial frequency of the external force leads to stabilization and laminarization of the flow. At the same time, with an increased spatial frequency of the external force, a decrease in viscosity leads to the resumption of the mechanism of energy transfer along the inverse cascade due to a shift in the energy dissipation region to a region of smaller scales compared to the pump scale.

Numerical investigation of photoexcited polaron states in water
Computer Research and Modeling, 2014, v. 6, no. 2, pp. 253-261Citations: 1 (RSCI).A method and a complex of computer programs are developed for the numerical simulation of the polaron states excitation process in condensed media. A numerical study of the polaron states formation in water under the action of the ultraviolet range laser irradiation is carried out. Our approach allows to reproduce the experimental data of the hydrated electrons formation. A numerical scheme is presented for the solution of the respective system of nonlinear partial differential equations. Parallel implementation is based on the MPI technique. The numerical results are given in comparison with the experimental data and theoretical estimations.

Electric field effects in chemical patterns
Computer Research and Modeling, 2014, v. 6, no. 5, pp. 705-718Views (last year): 8.Excitation waves are a prototype of self-organized dynamic patterns in non-equilibrium systems. They develop their own intrinsic dynamics resulting in travelling waves of various forms and shapes. Prominent examples are rotating spirals and scroll waves. It is an interesting and challenging task to find ways to control their behavior by applying external signals, upon which these propagating waves react. We apply external electric fields to such waves in the excitable Belousov–Zhabotinsky (BZ) reaction. Remarkable effects include the change of wave speed, reversal of propagation direction, annihilation of counter-rotating spiral waves and reorientation of scroll wave filaments. These effects can be explained in numerical simulations, where the negatively charged inhibitor bromide plays an essential role. Electric field effects have also been investigated in biological excitable media such as the social amoebae Dictyostelium discoideum. Quite recently we have started to investigate electric field effect in the BZ reaction dissolved in an Aerosol OT water-in-oil microemulsion. A drift of complex patterns can be observed, and also the viscosity and electric conductivity change. We discuss the assumption that this system can act as a model for long range communication between neurons.

Structural model of gold and silver fluorescent clusters
Computer Research and Modeling, 2015, v. 7, no. 2, pp. 263-269Views (last year): 2. Citations: 1 (RSCI).Present work is dedicated to systematic study of equilibrium configurations of gold and silver clusters in size from 2 to 9 atoms. To the lowest energy configurations is performed calculation of electronic excitation spectra. All calculations are carried out within the framework of density functional theory (DFT) using the hybrid B3LYP functional and ECP LANL2DZ. Based on the analysis of the received electronic excitation spectra we try to confirm the assumption that small gold and silver clusters, capable of luminescence can be produced only in the presence of a stabilizing template. The authors show that without stabilization in the solution formed “flat” and “spherical” configuration whose spectra do not correspond to the experimental luminescence excitation spectra for DNA cluster complexes.

An investigation of an action potential propagation in vascular plant using FitzHugh-Nagumo model
Computer Research and Modeling, 2011, v. 3, no. 1, pp. 77-84Views (last year): 3. Citations: 4 (RSCI).A two-dimensional system of excitable cells, describing by the FitzHugh-Nagumo model, has been used for a theoretical investigation of an action potential propagation (AP) in vascular plant tissues. It is shown that growth of electrical conductivity between cells increases the AP generation threshold and its propagation velocity in the homogeneous system, which has been formed by equal elements. The plant symplast has been
described by the heterogeneous system, including elements with low electrical conductivity, which simulate parenchyma cells, and elements with high electrical conductivity, which simulate sieve elements. Analysis of this system shows that the threshold of the AP generation is similar with this threshold in the homogeneous system
with low electrical conductivity; the velocity of the AP propagation is faster than one in this system.
