On contact instabilities of viscoplastic fluids in three-dimensional setting
Computer Research and Modeling, 2018, v. 10, no. 4, pp. 431-444Views (last year): 19.The Richtmyer–Meshkov and the Rayleigh–Taylor instabilities of viscoplastic (or the Bingham) fluids are studied in the three–dimensional formulation of the problem. A numerical modeling of the intermixing of two fluids with different rheology, whose densities differ twice, as a result of instabilities development process has been carried out. The development of the Richtmyer–Meshkov and the Rayleigh–Taylor instabilities of the Bingham fluids is analyzed utilizing the MacCormack and the Volume of Fluid (VOF) methods to reconstruct the interface during the process. Both the results of numerical simulation of the named instabilities of the Bingham liquids and their comparison with theory and the results of the Newtonian fluid simulation are presented. Critical amplitude of the initial perturbation of the contact boundary velocity field at which the development of instabilities begins was estimated. This critical amplitude presents because of the yield stress exists in the Bingham fluids. Results of numerical calculations show that the yield stress of viscoplastic fluids essentially affects the nature of the development of both Rayleigh–Taylor and Richtmyer–Meshkov instabilities. If the amplitude of the initial perturbation is less than the critical value, then the perturbation decays relatively quickly, and no instability develops. When the initial perturbation exceeds the critical amplitude, the nature of the instability development resembles that of the Newtonian fluid. In a case of the Richtmyer–Meshkov instability, the critical amplitudes of the initial perturbation of the contact boundary at different values of the yield stress are estimated. There is a distinction in behavior of the non-Newtonian fluid in a plane case: with the same value of the yield stress in three-dimensional geometry, the range of the amplitude values of the initial perturbation, when fluid starts to transit from rest to motion, is significantly narrower. In addition, it is shown that the critical amplitude of the initial perturbation of the contact boundary for the Rayleigh–Taylor instability is lower than for the Richtmyer–Meshkov instability. This is due to the action of gravity, which helps the instability to develop and counteracts the forces of viscous friction.

Optimization of task package execution planning in multi-stage systems under restrictions and the formation of sets
Computer Research and Modeling, 2021, v. 13, no. 5, pp. 917-946Modern methods of complex planning the execution of task packages in multistage systems are characterized by the presence of restrictions on the dimension of the problem being solved, the impossibility of guaranteed obtaining effective solutions for various values of its input parameters, as well as the impossibility of registration the conditions for the formation of sets from the result and the restriction on the interval duration of time of the system operating. The decomposition of the generalized function of the system into a set of hierarchically interconnected subfunctions is implemented to solve the problem of scheduling the execution of task packages with generating sets of results and the restriction on the interval duration of time for the functioning of the system. The use of decomposition made it possible to employ the hierarchical approach for planning the execution of task packages in multistage systems, which provides the determination of decisions by the composition of task groups at the first level of the hierarchy decisions by the composition of task packages groups executed during time intervals of limited duration at the second level and schedules for executing packages at the third level the hierarchy. In order to evaluate decisions on the composition of packages, the results of their execution, obtained during the specified time intervals, are distributed among the packages. The apparatus of the theory of hierarchical games is used to determine complex solutions. A model of a hierarchical game for making decisions by the compositions of packages, groups of packages and schedules of executing packages is built, which is a system of hierarchically interconnected criteria for optimizing decisions. The model registers the condition for the formation of sets from the results of the execution of task packages and restriction on duration of time intervals of its operating. The problem of determining the compositions of task packages and groups of task packages is NP-hard; therefore, its solution requires the use of approximate optimization methods. In order to optimize groups of task packages, the construction of a method for formulating initial solutions by their compositions has been implemented, which are further optimized. Moreover, a algorithm for distributing the results of executing task packages obtained during time intervals of limited duration by sets is formulated. The method of local solutions optimization by composition of packages groups, in accordance with which packages are excluded from groups, the results of which are not included in sets, and packages, that aren’t included in any group, is proposed. The software implementation of the considered method of complex optimization of the compositions of task packages, groups of task packages, and schedules for executing task packages from groups (including the implementation of the method for optimizing the compositions of groups of task packages) has been performed. With its use, studies of the features of the considered planning task are carried out. Conclusion are formulated concerning the dependence of the efficiency of scheduling the execution of task packages in multistage system under the introduced conditions from the input parameters of the problem. The use of the method of local optimization of the compositions of groups of task packages allows to increase the number of formed sets from the results of task execution in packages from groups by 60% in comparison with fixed groups (which do not imply optimization).

Variational principle for shape memory solids under variable external forces and temperatures
Computer Research and Modeling, 2021, v. 13, no. 3, pp. 541-555The quasistatic deformation problem for shape memory alloys is reviewed within the phenomenological mechanics of solids without microphysics analysis. The phenomenological approach is based on comparison of two material deformation diagrams. The first diagram corresponds to the active proportional loading when the alloy behaves as an ideal elastoplastic material; the residual strain is observed after unloading. The second diagram is relevant to the case when the deformed sample is heated to a certain temperature for each alloy. The initial shape is restored: the reverse distortion matches deformations on the first diagram, except for the sign. Because the first step of distortion can be described with the variational principle, for which the existence of the generalized solutions is proved under arbitrary loading, it becomes clear how to explain the reverse distortion within the slightly modified theory of plasticity. The simply connected surface of loading needs to be replaced with the doubly connected one, and the variational principle needs to be updated with two laws of thermodynamics and the principle of orthogonality for thermodynamic forces and streams. In this case it is not difficult to prove the existence of solutions either. The successful application of the theory of plasticity under the constant temperature causes the need to obtain a similar result for a more general case of variable external forces and temperatures. The paper studies the ideal elastoplastic von Mises model at linear strain rates. Taking into account hardening and arbitrary loading surface does not cause any additional difficulties.
The extended variational principle of the Reissner type is defined. Together with the laws of thermal plasticity it enables to prove the existence of the generalized solutions for three-dimensional bodies made of shape memory materials. The main issue to resolve is a challenge to choose a functional space for the rates and deformations of the continuum points. The space of bounded deformation, which is the main instrument of the mathematical theory of plasticity, serves this purpose in the paper. The proving process shows that the choice of the functional spaces used in the paper is not the only one. The study of other possible problem settings for the extended variational principle and search for regularity of generalized solutions seem an interesting challenge for future research.

Buckling prediction for shallow convex shells based on the analysis of nonlinear oscillations
Computer Research and Modeling, 2023, v. 15, no. 5, pp. 1189-1205Buckling problems of thin elastic shells have become relevant again because of the discrepancies between the standards in many countries on how to estimate loads causing buckling of shallow shells and the results of the experiments on thinwalled aviation structures made of high-strength alloys. The main contradiction is as follows: the ultimate internal stresses at shell buckling (collapsing) turn out to be lower than the ones predicted by the adopted design theory used in the USA and European standards. The current regulations are based on the static theory of shallow shells that was put forward in the 1930s: within the nonlinear theory of elasticity for thin-walled structures there are stable solutions that significantly differ from the forms of equilibrium typical to small initial loads. The minimum load (the lowest critical load) when there is an alternative form of equilibrium was used as a maximum permissible one. In the 1970s it was recognized that this approach is unacceptable for complex loadings. Such cases were not practically relevant in the past while now they occur with thinner structures used under complex conditions. Therefore, the initial theory on bearing capacity assessments needs to be revised. The recent mathematical results that proved asymptotic proximity of the estimates based on two analyses (the three-dimensional dynamic theory of elasticity and the dynamic theory of shallow convex shells) could be used as a theory basis. This paper starts with the setting of the dynamic theory of shallow shells that comes down to one resolving integrodifferential equation (once the special Green function is constructed). It is shown that the obtained nonlinear equation allows for separation of variables and has numerous time-period solutions that meet the Duffing equation with “a soft spring”. This equation has been thoroughly studied; its numerical analysis enables finding an amplitude and an oscillation period depending on the properties of the Green function. If the shell is oscillated with the trial time-harmonic load, the movement of the surface points could be measured at the maximum amplitude. The study proposes an experimental set-up where resonance oscillations are generated with the trial load normal to the surface. The experimental measurements of the shell movements, the amplitude and the oscillation period make it possible to estimate the safety factor of the structure bearing capacity with non-destructive methods under operating conditions.

The discrete form of the equations in the theory of the shifting mode of reproduction with different variants of financial flows
Computer Research and Modeling, 2016, v. 8, no. 5, pp. 803-815Views (last year): 1. Citations: 4 (RSCI).Different versions of the shifting mode of reproduction models describe set of the macroeconomic production subsystems interacting with each other, to each of which there corresponds the household. These subsystems differ among themselves on age of the fixed capital used by them as they alternately stop production for its updating by own forces (for repair of the equipment and for introduction of the innovations increasing production efficiency). It essentially distinguishes this type of models from the models describing the mode of joint reproduction in case of which updating of fixed capital and production of a product happen simultaneously. Models of the shifting mode of reproduction allow to describe mechanisms of such phenomena as cash circulations and amortization, and also to describe different types of monetary policy, allow to interpret mechanisms of economic growth in a new way. Unlike many other macroeconomic models, model of this class in which the subsystems competing among themselves serially get an advantage in comparison with the others because of updating, essentially not equilibrium. They were originally described as a systems of ordinary differential equations with abruptly varying coefficients. In the numerical calculations which were carried out for these systems depending on parameter values and initial conditions both regular, and not regular dynamics was revealed. This paper shows that the simplest versions of this model without the use of additional approximations can be represented in a discrete form (in the form of non-linear mappings) with different variants (continuous and discrete) financial flows between subsystems (interpreted as wages and subsidies). This form of representation is more convenient for receipt of analytical results as well as for a more economical and accurate numerical calculations. In particular, its use allowed to determine the entry conditions corresponding to coordinated and sustained economic growth without systematic lagging in production of a product of one subsystems from others.

The tests for checking of the parallel organization in logical calculation which are based on the algebra and the automats
Computer Research and Modeling, 2017, v. 9, no. 4, pp. 621-638Views (last year): 14. Citations: 1 (RSCI).We build new tests which permit to increase the human capacity for the information processing by the parallel execution of the several logic operations of prescribed type. For checking of the causes of the capacity increasing we develop the check tests on the same logic operations class in which the parallel organization of the calculations is low-effectively. We use the apparatus of the universal algebra and automat theory. This article is the extension of the cycle of the work, which investigates the human capacity for the parallel calculations. The general publications on this theme content in the references. The tasks in the described tests may to define in the form of the calculation of the result in the sequence of the same type operations from some algebra. If this operation is associative then the parallel calculation is effectively by successful grouping of process. In Theory of operations that is the using the simultaneous work several processors. Each processor transforms in the time unit the certain known number of the elements of the input date or the intermediate results (the processor productivity). Now it is not known what kind elements of date are using by the brain for the logical or mathematical calculation, and how many elements are treating in the time units. Therefore the test contains the sequence of the presentations of the tasks with different numbers of logical operations in the fixed alphabet. That is the measure of the complexity for the task. The analysis of the depending of the time for the task solution from the complexity gives the possible to estimate the processor productivity and the form of the calculate organization. For the sequence calculations only one processor is working, and the time of solution is a line function of complexity. If the new processors begin to work in parallel when the complexities of the task increase than the depending of the solution time from complexity is represented by the curve which is convex at the bottom. For the detection of situation when the man increases the speed of the single processor under the condition of the increasing complexity we use the task series with similar operations but in the no associate algebra. In such tasks the parallel calculation is little affectivity in the sense of the increasing efficiency by the increasing the number of processors. That is the check set of the tests. In article we consider still one class of the tests, which are based on the calculation of the trajectory of the formal automat state if the input sequence is determined. We investigate the special class of automats (relay) for which the construction affect on the affectivity of the parallel calculations of the final automat state. For all tests we estimate the affectivity of the parallel calculation. This article do not contained the experiment results.

The analysis of player’s behaviour in modified “Sea battle” game
Computer Research and Modeling, 2016, v. 8, no. 5, pp. 817-827Views (last year): 18.The well-known “Sea battle” game is in the focus of the current job. The main goal of the article is to provide modified version of “Sea battle” game and to find optimal players’ strategies in the new rules. Changes were applied to attacking strategies (new option to attack hitting four cells in one shot was added) as well as to the size of the field (sizes of 10 × 10, 20 × 20, 30 × 30 were used) and to the rules of disposal algorithms during the game (new possibility to move the ship off the attacking zone). The game was solved with the use of game theory capabilities: payoff matrices were found for each version of altered rules, for which optimal pure and mixed strategies were discovered. For solving payoff matrices iterative method was used. The simulation was in applying five attacking algorithms and six disposal ones with parameters variation due to the game of players with each other. Attacking algorithms were varied in 100 sets of parameters, disposal algorithms — in 150 sets. Major result is that using such algorithms the modified “Sea battle” game can be solved — that implies the possibility of finding stable pure and mixed strategies of behaviour, which guarantee the sides gaining optimal results in game theory terms. Moreover, influence of modifying the rules of “Sea battle” game is estimated. Comparison with prior authors’ results on this topic was made. Based on matching the payoff matrices with the statistical analysis, completed earlier, it was found out that standard “Sea battle” game could be represented as a special case of game modifications, observed in this article. The job is important not only because of its applications in war area, but in civil areas as well. Use of article’s results could save resources in exploration, provide an advantage in war conflicts, defend devices under devastating impact.

Synchronous components of financial time series
Computer Research and Modeling, 2017, v. 9, no. 4, pp. 639-655The article proposes a method of joint analysis of multidimensional financial time series based on the evaluation of the set of properties of stock quotes in a sliding time window and the subsequent averaging of property values for all analyzed companies. The main purpose of the analysis is to construct measures of joint behavior of time series reacting to the occurrence of a synchronous or coherent component. The coherence of the behavior of the characteristics of a complex system is an important feature that makes it possible to evaluate the approach of the system to sharp changes in its state. The basis for the search for precursors of sharp changes is the general idea of increasing the correlation of random fluctuations of the system parameters as it approaches the critical state. The increments in time series of stock values have a pronounced chaotic character and have a large amplitude of individual noises, against which a weak common signal can be detected only on the basis of its correlation in different scalar components of a multidimensional time series. It is known that classical methods of analysis based on the use of correlations between neighboring samples are ineffective in the processing of financial time series, since from the point of view of the correlation theory of random processes, increments in the value of shares formally have all the attributes of white noise (in particular, the “flat spectrum” and “delta-shaped” autocorrelation function). In connection with this, it is proposed to go from analyzing the initial signals to examining the sequences of their nonlinear properties calculated in time fragments of small length. As such properties, the entropy of the wavelet coefficients is used in the decomposition into the Daubechies basis, the multifractal parameters and the autoregressive measure of signal nonstationarity. Measures of synchronous behavior of time series properties in a sliding time window are constructed using the principal component method, moduli values of all pairwise correlation coefficients, and a multiple spectral coherence measure that is a generalization of the quadratic coherence spectrum between two signals. The shares of 16 large Russian companies from the beginning of 2010 to the end of 2016 were studied. Using the proposed method, two synchronization time intervals of the Russian stock market were identified: from mid-December 2013 to mid- March 2014 and from mid-October 2014 to mid-January 2016.

On the modeling of water obstacles overcoming by Rangifer tarandus L
Computer Research and Modeling, 2019, v. 11, no. 5, pp. 895-910Seasonal migrations and herd instinct are traditionally recognized as wild reindeer (Rangifer tarandus L.) species-specific behavioral signs. These animals are forced to overcome water obstacles during the migrations. Behaviour peculiarities are considered as the result of the selection process, which has chosen among the sets of strategies, as the only evolutionarily stable one, determining the reproduction and biological survival of wild reindeer as a species. Natural processes in the Taimyr population wild reindeer are currently occurring against the background of an increase in the influence of negative factors due to the escalation of the industrial development of the Arctic. That is why the need to identify the ethological features of these animals completely arose. This paper presents the results of applying the classical methods of the theory of optimal control and differential games to the wild reindeer study of the migration patterns in overcoming water barriers, including major rivers. Based on these animals’ ethological features and behavior forms, the herd is presented as a controlled dynamic system, which presents also two classes of individuals: the leader and the rest of the herd, for which their models, describing the trajectories of their movement, are constructed. The models are based on hypotheses, which are the mathematical formalization of some animal behavior patterns. This approach made it possible to find the trajectory of the important one using the methods of the optimal control theory, and in constructing the trajectories of other individuals, apply the principle of control with a guide. Approbation of the obtained results, which can be used in the formation of a common “platform” for the adaptive behavior models systematic construction and as a reserve for the cognitive evolution models fundamental development, is numerically carried out using a model example with observational data on the Werchnyaya Taimyra River.

System modeling, risks evaluation and optimization of a distributed computer system
Computer Research and Modeling, 2020, v. 12, no. 6, pp. 1349-1359The article deals with the problem of a distributed system operation reliability. The system core is an open integration platform that provides interaction of varied software for modeling gas transportation. Some of them provide an access through thin clients on the cloud technology “software as a service”. Mathematical models of operation, transmission and computing are to ensure the operation of an automated dispatching system for oil and gas transportation. The paper presents a system solution based on the theory of Markov random processes and considers the stable operation stage. The stationary operation mode of the Markov chain with continuous time and discrete states is described by a system of Chapman–Kolmogorov equations with respect to the average numbers (mathematical expectations) of the objects in certain states. The objects of research are both system elements that are present in a large number – thin clients and computing modules, and individual ones – a server, a network manager (message broker). Together, they are interacting Markov random processes. The interaction is determined by the fact that the transition probabilities in one group of elements depend on the average numbers of other elements groups.
The authors propose a multi-criteria dispersion model of risk assessment for such systems (both in the broad and narrow sense, in accordance with the IEC standard). The risk is the standard deviation of estimated object parameter from its average value. The dispersion risk model makes possible to define optimality criteria and whole system functioning risks. In particular, for a thin client, the following is calculated: the loss profit risk, the total risk of losses due to non-productive element states, and the total risk of all system states losses.
Finally the paper proposes compromise schemes for solving the multi-criteria problem of choosing the optimal operation strategy based on the selected set of compromise criteria.
