Development of and research on an algorithm for distinguishing features in Twitter publications for a classification problem with known markup
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2023, v. 15, no. 1, pp. 171-183

Social media posts play an important role in demonstration of financial market state, and their analysis is a powerful tool for trading. The article describes the result of a study of the impact of social media activities on the movement of the financial market. The top authoritative influencers are selected. Twitter posts are used as data. Such texts usually include slang and abbreviations, so methods for preparing primary text data, including Stanza, regular expressions are presented. Two approaches to the representation of a point in time in the format of text data are considered. The difference of the influence of a single tweet or a whole package consisting of tweets collected over a certain period of time is investigated. A statistical approach in the form of frequency analysis is also considered, metrics defined by the significance of a particular word when identifying the relationship between price changes and Twitter posts are introduced. Frequency analysis involves the study of the occurrence distributions of various words and bigrams in the text for positive, negative or general trends. To build the markup, changes in the market are processed into a binary vector using various parameters, thus setting the task of binary classification. The parameters for Binance candlesticks are sorted out for better description of the movement of the cryptocurrency market, their variability is also explored in this article. Sentiment is studied using Stanford Core NLP. The result of statistical analysis is relevant to feature selection for further binary or multiclass classification tasks. The presented methods of text analysis contribute to the increase of the accuracy of models designed to solve natural language processing problems by selecting words, improving the quality of vectorization. Such algorithms are often used in automated trading strategies to predict the price of an asset, the trend of its movement.

A novel method of stylometry based on the statistic of numerals
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2017, v. 9, no. 5, pp. 837-850

A new method of statistical analysis of texts is suggested. The frequency distribution of the first significant digits in numerals of English-language texts is considered. We have taken into account cardinal as well as ordinal numerals expressed both in figures, and verbally. To identify the author’s use of numerals, we previously deleted from the text all idiomatic expressions and set phrases accidentally containing numerals, as well as itemizations and page numbers, etc. Benford’s law is found to hold approximately for the frequencies of various first significant digits of compound literary texts by different authors; a marked predominance of the digit 1 is observed. In coherent authorial texts, characteristic deviations from Benford’s law arise which are statistically stable significant author peculiarities that allow, under certain conditions, to consider the problem of authorship and distinguish between texts by different authors. The text should be large enough (at least about 200 kB). At the end of $\{1, 2, \ldots, 9\}$ digits row, the frequency distribution is subject to strong fluctuations and thus unrepresentative for our purpose. The aim of the theoretical explanation of the observed empirical regularity is not intended, which, however, does not preclude the applicability of the proposed methodology for text attribution. The approach suggested and the conclusions are backed by the examples of the computer analysis of works by W.M. Thackeray, M. Twain, R. L. Stevenson, J. Joyce, sisters Bront¨e, and J.Austen. On the basis of technique suggested, we examined the authorship of a text earlier ascribed to L. F. Baum (the result agrees with that obtained by different means). We have shown that the authorship of Harper Lee’s “To Kill a Mockingbird” pertains to her, whereas the primary draft, “Go Set a Watchman”, seems to have been written in collaboration with Truman Capote. All results are confirmed on the basis of parametric Pearson’s chi-squared test as well as non-parametric Mann –Whitney U test and Kruskal –Wallis test.

Modelling interregional migration flows by the cellular automata
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2020, v. 12, no. 6, pp. 1467-1483

The article dwells upon investigating the issue of the most adequate tools developing and justifying to forecast the interregional migration flows value and structure. Migration processes have a significant impact on the size and demographic structure of the population of territories, the state and balance of regional and local labor markets.

To analyze the migration processes and to assess their impact an economic-mathematical tool is required which would be instrumental in modelling the migration processes and flows for different areas with the desired precision. The current methods and approaches to the migration processes modelling, including the analysis of their advantages and disadvantages, were considered. It is noted that to implement many of these methods mass aggregated statistical data is required which is not always available and doesn’t characterize the migrants behavior at the local level where the decision to move to a new dwelling place is made. This has a significant impact on the ability to apply appropriate migration processes modelling techniques and on the projection accuracy of the migration flows magnitude and structure.

The cellular automata model for interregional migration flows modelling, implementing the integration of the households migration behavior model under the conditions of the Bounded Rationality into the general model of the area migration flow was developed and tested based on the Primorye Territory data. To implement the households migration behavior model under the conditions of the Bounded Rationality the integral attractiveness index of the regions with economic, social and ecological components was proposed in the work.

To evaluate the prognostic capacity of the developed model, it was compared with the available cellular automata models used to predict interregional migration flows. The out of sample prediction method which showed statistically significant superiority of the proposed model was applied for this purpose. The model allows obtaining the forecasts and quantitative characteristics of the areas migration flows based on the households real migration behaviour at the local level taking into consideration their living conditions and behavioural motives.

Mathematical methods for stabilizing the structure of social systems under external disturbances
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2021, v. 13, no. 4, pp. 845-857

The article considers a bilinear model of the influence of external disturbances on the stability of the structure of social systems. Approaches to the third-party stabilization of the initial system consisting of two groups are investigated — by reducing the initial system to a linear system with uncertain parameters and using the results of the theory of linear dynamic games with a quadratic criterion. The influence of the coefficients of the proposed model of the social system and the control parameters on the quality of the system stabilization is analyzed with the help of computer experiments. It is shown that the use of a minimax strategy by a third party in the form of feedback control leads to a relatively close convergence of the population of the second group (excited by external influences) to an acceptable level, even with unfavorable periodic dynamic perturbations.

The influence of one of the key coefficients in the criterion $(\varepsilon)$ used to compensate for the effects of external disturbances (the latter are present in the linear model in the form of uncertainty) on the quality of system stabilization is investigated. Using Z-transform, it is shown that a decrease in the coefficient $\varepsilon$ should lead to an increase in the values of the sum of the squares of the control. The computer calculations carried out in the article also show that the improvement of the convergence of the system structure to the equilibrium level with a decrease in this coefficient is achieved due to sharp changes in control in the initial period, which may induce the transition of some members of the quiet group to the second, excited group.

The article also examines the influence of the values of the model coefficients that characterize the level of social tension on the quality of management. Calculations show that an increase in the level of social tension (all other things being equal) leads to the need for a significant increase in the third party's stabilizing efforts, as well as the value of control at the transition period.

The results of the statistical modeling carried out in the article show that the calculated feedback controls successfully compensate for random disturbances on the social system (both in the form of «white» noise, and of autocorrelated disturbances).

Bibliographic link prediction using contrast resampling technique
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2021, v. 13, no. 6, pp. 1317-1336

The paper studies the problem of searching for fragments with missing bibliographic links in a scientific article using automatic binary classification. To train the model, we propose a new contrast resampling technique, the innovation of which is the consideration of the context of the link, taking into account the boundaries of the fragment, which mostly affects the probability of presence of a bibliographic links in it. The training set was formed of automatically labeled samples that are fragments of three sentences with class labels «without link» and «with link» that satisfy the requirement of contrast: samples of different classes are distanced in the source text. The feature space was built automatically based on the term occurrence statistics and was expanded by constructing additional features — entities (names, numbers, quotes and abbreviations) recognized in the text.

A series of experiments was carried out on the archives of the scientific journals «Law enforcement review» (273 articles) and «Journal Infectology» (684 articles). The classification was carried out by the models Nearest Neighbors, RBF SVM, Random Forest, Multilayer Perceptron, with the selection of optimal hyperparameters for each classifier.

Experiments have confirmed the hypothesis put forward. The highest accuracy was reached by the neural network classifier (95%), which is however not as fast as the linear one that showed also high accuracy with contrast resampling (91–94%). These values are superior to those reported for NER and Sentiment Analysis on comparable data. The high computational efficiency of the proposed method makes it possible to integrate it into applied systems and to process documents online.

Statistically fair price for the European call options according to the discreet mean/variance model
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2014, v. 6, no. 5, pp. 861-874

We consider a portfolio with call option and the corresponding underlying asset under the standard assumption that stock-market price represents a random variable with lognormal distribution. Minimizing the variance hedging risk of the portfolio on the date of maturity of the call option we find a fraction of the asset per unit call option. As a direct consequence we derive the statistically fair lookback call option price in explicit form. In contrast to the famous Black–Scholes theory, any portfolio cannot be regarded as  risk-free because no additional transactions are supposed to be conducted over the life of the contract, but the sequence of independent portfolios will reduce risk to zero asymptotically. This property is illustrated in the experimental section using a dataset of daily stock prices of 37 leading US-based companies for the period from April 2006 to January 2013.

Deviation from Benford’s law and identification of author peculiarities in texts
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2015, v. 7, no. 1, pp. 197-201

The distribution of the first significant digit in numerals of connected texts is considered. Benford's law is found to hold approximately for them. Deviations from Benford's law are statistically significant author peculiarities that allow, under certain conditions, to distinguish between parts of the text with a different authorship.

Forecasting the global temperature increase for the XXI century by means of a simple statistical model
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2016, v. 8, no. 2, pp. 379-390

A simple statistical model is developed for the dynamics of the mean global annual temperature. The model combines the logarithmic effect of carbon dioxide concentration increase and the input by climatic cycles. Model parameters are determined from data of instrumental observations for 1850–2010. The model confirms the presence of climatic cycles with the period of 10.5 and 68.8 years in the global temperature dynamics. The trajectories of the global temperature changes for the XXI century are obtained under the scenarios of carbon dioxide concentration changes from the 5th IPCC Assessment Report. The comparison revealed that the global temperature trajectories from the Report are 0.9–1.8 °C above those obtained in the model.

Statistical analysis of bigrams of specialized texts
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2020, v. 12, no. 1, pp. 243-254

The method of the stochastic matrix spectrum analysis is used to build an indicator that allows to determine the subject of scientific texts without keywords usage. This matrix is a matrix of conditional probabilities of bigrams, built on the statistics of the alphabet characters in the text without spaces, numbers and punctuation marks. Scientific texts are classified according to the mutual arrangement of invariant subspaces of the matrix of conditional probabilities of pairs of letter combinations. The separation indicator is the value of the cosine of the angle between the right and left eigenvectors corresponding to the maximum and minimum eigenvalues. The computational algorithm uses a special representation of the dichotomy parameter, which is the integral of the square norm of the resolvent of the stochastic matrix of bigrams along the circumference of a given radius in the complex plane. The tendency of the integral to infinity testifies to the approximation of the integration circuit to the eigenvalue of the matrix. The paper presents the typical distribution of the indicator of identification of specialties. For statistical analysis were analyzed dissertations on the main 19 specialties without taking into account the classification within the specialty, 20 texts for the specialty. It was found that the empirical distributions of the cosine of the angle for the mathematical and Humanities specialties do not have a common domain, so they can be formally divided by the value of this indicator without errors. Although the body of texts was not particularly large, nevertheless, in the case of arbitrary selection of dissertations, the identification error at the level of 2 % seems to be a very good result compared to the methods based on semantic analysis. It was also found that it is possible to make a text pattern for each of the specialties in the form of a reference matrix of bigrams, in the vicinity of which in the norm of summable functions it is possible to accurately identify the theme of the written scientific work, without using keywords. The proposed method can be used as a comparative indicator of greater or lesser severity of the scientific text or as an indicator of compliance of the text to a certain scientific level.
