The implicit line-by-line recurrence method in application to the solution of problems of incompressible viscous fluid dynamics
Computer Research and Modeling, 2015, v. 7, no. 1, pp. 35-50Views (last year): 3. Citations: 3 (RSCI).In the paper the results of applying the implicit line-by-line recurrence method for solving of systems of elliptic difference equations, arising, in particular, at numerical simulation of dynamics of incompressible viscous fluid are considered. Research is conducted on the example of the problem about a steady-state two-dimensional lid-driven cavity flow formulated in primitive variables ($u,\, v,\, p$) for large Re (up to 20 000) and grids (up to 2049×2049). High efficiency of the method at calculation of a pressure correction fields is demonstrated. The difficulties of constructing a solution of the problem for large Rе are analyzed.

Modelling diameter measurement errors of a wide-aperture laser beam with flat profile
Computer Research and Modeling, 2015, v. 7, no. 1, pp. 113-124Views (last year): 3. Citations: 3 (RSCI).Work is devoted to modeling instrumental errors of a laser beam diameter measurement using a method based on a lambertian transmissive screen. Super-Lorenz distribution was used as a model of the beam. To determine the effect of each parameter on the measurement error were performed computational experiments, results of which were approximated by analytic functions. There were obtained the errors depending on relative beam size, spatial non-uniformity of the transmission screen, lens distortion, physical vignetting, beam tilt, CCD spatial resolution, ADC resolution of a camera. There was shown that the error can be less then 1 %.

Analysis of stochastic attractors for time-delayed quadratic discrete model of population dynamics
Computer Research and Modeling, 2015, v. 7, no. 1, pp. 145-157Views (last year): 3. Citations: 1 (RSCI).We consider a time-delayed quadratic discrete model of population dynamics under the influence of random perturbations. Analysis of stochastic attractors of the model is performed using the methods of direct numerical simulation and the stochastic sensitivity function technique. A deformation of the probability distribution of random states around the stable equilibria and cycles is studied parametrically. The phenomenon of noise-induced transitions in the zone of discrete cycles is demonstrated.

Detection of promoter and non-promoter E.coli sequences by analysis of their electrostatic profiles
Computer Research and Modeling, 2015, v. 7, no. 2, pp. 347-359Views (last year): 3.The article is devoted to the idea of using physical properties of DNA instead of sequence along for the aspect of accurate search and annotation of various prokaryotic genomic regions. Particulary, the possibility to use electrostatic potential distribution around DNA sequence as a classifier for identification of a few functional DNA regions was demonstrated. A number of classification models was built providing discrimination of promoters and non-promoter regions (random sequences, coding regions and promoter-like sequences) with accuracy value about 83–85%. The most valueable regions for the discrimination were determined and expected to play a certain role in the process of DNA-recognition by RNA-polymerase.

Modification of Chanter–Thornley mushroom growth model and its analysis by means of multiapproach simulation
Computer Research and Modeling, 2015, v. 7, no. 2, pp. 375-385Views (last year): 3. Citations: 3 (RSCI).Classical Chanter–Thornley model of mushroom growth has been modified and implemented in AnyLogic simulation environment by means of system dynamics, discrete-event and agent-based approaches. A numerical case study of the model is presented and the problem of optimum age at harvest, providing the maximum integral yield for all fruiting “waves” is solved.

Grid based high performance computing in satellite imagery. Case study — Perona–Malik filter
Computer Research and Modeling, 2015, v. 7, no. 3, pp. 399-406Views (last year): 3.The present paper discusses an approach to the efficient satellite image processing which involves two steps. The first step assumes the distribution of the steadily increasing volume of satellite collected data through a Grid infrastructure. The second step assumes the acceleration of the solution of the individual tasks related to image processing by implementing execution codes which make heavy use of spatial and temporal parallelism. An instance of such execution code is the image processing by means of the iterative Perona–Malik filter within FPGA application specific hardware architecture.

JINR TIER-1-level computing system for the CMS experiment at LHC: status and perspectives
Computer Research and Modeling, 2015, v. 7, no. 3, pp. 455-462Views (last year): 3. Citations: 2 (RSCI).The Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) is a high-performance general-purpose detector at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. A distributed data analysis system for processing and further analysis of CMS experimental data has been developed and this model foresees the obligatory usage of modern grid-technologies. The CMS Computing Model makes use of the hierarchy of computing centers (Tiers). The Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) takes an active part in the CMS experiment. In order to provide a proper computing infrastructure for the CMS experiment at JINR and for Russian institutes collaborating in CMS, Tier-1 center for the CMS experiment is constructing at JINR. The main tasks and services of the CMS Tier-1 at JINR are described. The status and perspectives of the Tier1 center for the CMS experiment at JINR are presented.

The BES-III experiment at the IHEP CAS, Beijing, is running at the high-luminosity e+e- collider BEPC-II to study physics of charm quarks and tau leptons. The world largest samples of J/psi and psi' events are already collected, a number of unique data samples in the energy range 2.5–4.6 GeV have been taken. The data volume is expected to increase by an order of magnitude in the coming years. This requires to move from a centralized computing system to a distributed computing environment, thus allowing the use of computing resources from remote sites — members of the BES-III Collaboration. In this report the general information, latest results and development plans of the BES-III distributed computing system are presented.
