Methodic of legacy information systems handling
Computer Research and Modeling, 2014, v. 6, no. 2, pp. 331-344Views (last year): 3. Citations: 1 (RSCI).In this article a method of legacy information systems handling is offered. During professional activities of specialists of various domains of industry they face with the problem that computer software that was involved in product development stage becomes obsolete much quickly than the product itself. At the same time switch to any modern software might be not possible due to various reasons. This problem is known as "legacy system" problem. It appears when product lifecycle is sufficiently longer than that of software systems that were used for product creation. In this article author offers an approach for solving this problem along with computer application based on this approach.

Computer analysis of the bone regeneration strength in a model system of osteosynthesis by the Ilizarov fixator with static loads
Computer Research and Modeling, 2014, v. 6, no. 3, pp. 427-440Views (last year): 3.The adequate complexity three-dimensional finite element model of biomechanical system with space, shell and beam-type elements was built. The model includes the Ilizarov fixator and tibial bone’s simulator with the regenerating tissue at the fracture location. The proposed model allows us to specify the orthotropic elastic properties of tibial bone model in cortical and trabecular zones. It is also possible to change the basic geometrical and mechanical characteristics of biomechanical system, change the finite element mash density and define the different external loads, such as pressure on the bone and compression or distraction between the repositioned rings of Ilizarov device.
By using special APDL ANSYS program macros the mode of deformation was calculated in the fracture zone for various static loads on the simulator bone, for compression or distraction between the repositioned rings and for various mechanical properties during different stages of the bone regenerate formation (gelatinous, cartilaginous, trabecular and cortical bone remodeling). The obtained results allow us to estimate the permissible values of the external pressure on the bone and of the displacements of the Ilizarov fixator rings for different stages of the bone regeneration, based on the admittance criterion for the maximum of the stresses in the callus. The presented data can be used in a clinical condition for planning, realization and monitoring of the power modes for transosseous osteosynthesis with the external Ilizarov fixator.

On a possible approach to a sport game with continuous time simulation
Computer Research and Modeling, 2014, v. 6, no. 3, pp. 455-460Views (last year): 3. Citations: 2 (RSCI).This paper is dedicated to discussing methods of statistical modeling the outcomes of sport events and, particularly, matches with continuous time. We propose a simulation-based approach to predicting the outcome of a match, somehow medium between pure statistical methods and agent simulation of individual players. An example of retrospective prediction is given.

Percolation modeling of hydraulic hysteresis in a porous media
Computer Research and Modeling, 2014, v. 6, no. 4, pp. 543-558Views (last year): 3. Citations: 1 (RSCI).In this paper we consider various models of hydraulic hysteresis in invasive mercury porosimetry. For simulating the hydraulic hysteresis is used isotropic site percolation on three-dimensional square lattices with $(1,\,\pi)$-neighborhood. The relationship between the percolation model parameters and invasive porosimetry data is studied phenomenologically. The implementation of the percolation model is based on libraries SPSL and SECP, released under license GNU GPL-3 using the free programming language R.

Calculation of spatial distribution of differently oriented LEDs
Computer Research and Modeling, 2014, v. 6, no. 4, pp. 577-584Views (last year): 3. Citations: 2 (RSCI).New method for calculation of spatial light distribution of differently oriented LEDs is proposed. The main idea is combination of coordinate systems associated with these light sources. Unlike other conventional approaches, this method can be applied to the emitters with light distribution with arbitrary symmetry or without symmetry at all.

Modeling of thermal desorption and hydrogen permeability
Computer Research and Modeling, 2014, v. 6, no. 5, pp. 679-703Views (last year): 3.In the context of problems of hydrogen and thermonuclear power engineering intensive research of the hydrogen isotopes properties is being conducted. Mathematical models help to specify physical-chemical ideas about the interaction of hydrogen isotopes with structural materials, to discover the limiting factors. Classical diffusion models are often insufficient. The paper is devoted to the models and numerical solution of the boundary-value problems of hydrogen thermodesorption and permeability taking into account nonlinear sorption-desorption dynamics on the surface and reversible capture of hydrogen atoms in the bulk. Algorithms based on difference approximations. The results of computer simulation of the hydrogen flux from a structural material sample are presented.

Nonequilibrium initiation of volumetric combustion in a combustion engine: modeling and experimental setup
Computer Research and Modeling, 2014, v. 6, no. 6, pp. 911-922Views (last year): 3. Citations: 4 (RSCI).The paper presents results of experimental, computational and analytical study of the effect of nonequilibrium chemical activation of air-fuel mixture on effectiveness of Diesel process. The generation of a high-voltage multi-streamer discharge in combustion chamber at the compression phase is considered as the method of the activation. The description of electrical discharge system, results of measurement and visualization are presented. The plasma-chemical kinetics of nonequilibrium ignition is analyzed to establish a passway for a proper reduction of chemical kinetics scheme. The results of numerical simulation of gas dynamic processes at presence of plasma-assisted combustion in a geometrical configuration close to the experimental one are described.
