An interactive tool for developing distributed telemedicine systems
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2015, v. 7, no. 3, pp. 521-527

Getting a qualified medical examination can be difficult for people in remote areas because medical staff available can either be inaccessible or it might lack expert knowledge at proper level. Telemedicine technologies can help in such situations. On one hand, such technologies allow highly qualified doctors to consult remotely, thereby increasing the quality of diagnosis and plan treatment. On the other hand, computer-aided analysis of the research results, anamnesis and information on similar cases assist medical staff in their routine activities and decision-making.

Creating telemedicine system for a particular domain is a laborious process. It’s not sufficient to pick proper medical experts and to fill the knowledge base of the analytical module. It’s also necessary to organize the entire infrastructure of the system to meet the requirements in terms of reliability, fault tolerance, protection of personal data and so on. Tools with reusable infrastructure elements, which are common to such systems, are able to decrease the amount of work needed for the development of telemedicine systems.

An interactive tool for creating distributed telemedicine systems is described in the article. A list of requirements for the systems is presented; structural solutions for meeting the requirements are suggested. A composition of such elements applicable for distributed systems is described in the article. A cardiac telemedicine system is described as a foundation of the tool

Russian participants in BOINC-based volunteer computing projects. The activity statistics
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2015, v. 7, no. 3, pp. 727-734

The article analyses the activity statistics of the Russian participants of volunteer computing (VC) using platform BOINC obtained by the authors. The data has been received with API BOINC and site www.boincstats.com. The script for the database was written in PHP, for data storing was used MySQL.

The database indicators were accumulated across all Russian projects, which allowed the calculation of the indicators characterizing the behavior of the Russian participants in all projects and teams BOINC — absolute and relative number of Russian participants, their activity, the number of introduced points system, the number of participants in each of the Russian project participants, interest in the concept of the VC.

It is shown that the position of Russia in the countries ranking is very low and is retained at the same level for 4 years. According to the authors, low activity of the Russian participants of the VC, due to individualism and the closure of Russian Internet users, as well as to a small interest in the development of fundamental science, scientific research. This, possibly due to the low-prestige as a science as a whole, as well as civil science, crowdsourcing, in particular. And, therefore, we can see insufficient dissemination of the ideas of using the mechanism of VC for research projects.

    Computer Research and Modeling, 2015, v. 7, no. 6, pp. 1155-1175

The generalization of Margolus’s block cellular automaton on a hexagonal grid is formulated. Statistical analysis of the results of probabilistic cellular automation for vast variety of this scheme solving the test task of diffusion is done. It is shown that the choice of the hexagon blocks is 25% more efficient than Y-blocks. It is shown that the algorithms have polynomial complexity, and the polynom degree lies within 0.6÷0.8 for parallel computer, and in the range 1.5÷1.7 for serial computer. The effects of embedded into automaton’s field defective cells on the rate of convergence are studied also.

Research and reduction of mathematical model of chemical reaction by Sobol’ method
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2016, v. 8, no. 4, pp. 633-646

The technique of simplification of mathematical model of a chemical reaction by reducing the number of steps of the reaction scheme, based on an analysis of sensitivity to changes in the objective function of the model parameters, is proposed. The reduced scheme of model reaction of formaldehyde oxidation is received. Functional characterizes the measure of proximity to the calculated values for the initial kinetic reaction scheme and the scheme resulting disturbance of its parameters. The advantage of this technique is the ability to analyze complex kinetic schemes and reduction of kinetic models to a size suitable for practical use. The results of computational experiments under different reaction conditions can be included in the functional and thus to receive the reduce scheme, which is consistent the detailed scheme for the desired range of conditions. Sensitivity analysis of the functional model allows to identify those parameters, which provide the largest (or smallest) the contribution to the result of the process simulation. The mathematical model can contain parameters, which change of values do not affect the qualitative and quantitative description of the process. The contribution of these parameters in the functional value won’t be of great importance. Thus it can be eliminated from consideration, which do not serve for modeling kinetic curves substances. The kinetic scheme of formaldehyde oxidation, the detailed mechanism which includes 25 stages and 15 substances, were investigated using this method. On the basis of the local and global sensitivity analysis, the most important stage of the process that affect the overall dynamics of the target concentrations of the reaction. The reduced scheme of model reaction of formaldehyde oxidation is received. This scheme also describes the behavior of the main substances, as detailed scheme, but has a much smaller number of reaction stages. The results of the comparative analysis of modeling of formaldehyde oxidation on detailed and reduced schemes are given. Computational aspects of the problems of chemical kinetics by Sobol’ global method an example of this reaction are specified. The comparison results are local, global and total sensitivity indices are given.

Analysis of noise-induced destruction of coexistence regimes in «prey–predator» population model
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2016, v. 8, no. 4, pp. 647-660

The paper is devoted to the analysis of the proximity of the population system to dangerous boundaries. An intersection of these boundaries results in the collapse of the stable coexistence of interacting populations. As a reason of such destruction one can consider random perturbations inevitably presented in any living system. This study is carried out on the example of the well-known model of interaction between predator and prey populations, taking into account both a stabilizing factor of the competition of predators for another than prey resources, and also a destabilizing saturation factor for predators. To describe the saturation of predators, we use the second type Holling trophic function. The dynamics of the system is studied as a function of the predator saturation, and the coefficient of predator competition for resources other than prey. The paper presents a parametric description of the possible dynamic regimes of the deterministic model. Here, local and global bifurcations are studied, and areas of sustainable coexistence of populations in equilibrium and the oscillation modes are described. An interesting feature of this mathematical model, firstly considered by Bazykin, is a global bifurcation of the birth of limit cycle from the separatrix loop. We study the effects of noise on the equilibrium and oscillatory regimes of coexistence of predator and prey populations. It is shown that an increase of the intensity of random disturbances can lead to significant deformations of these regimes right up to their destruction. The aim of this work is to develop a constructive probabilistic criterion for the proximity of the population stochastic system to the dangerous boundaries. The proposed approach is based on the mathematical technique of stochastic sensitivity functions, and the method of confidence domains. In the case of a stable equilibrium, this confidence domain is an ellipse. For the stable cycle, this domain is a confidence band. The size of the confidence domain is proportional to the intensity of the noise and stochastic sensitivity of the initial deterministic attractor. A geometric criterion of the exit of the population system from sustainable coexistence mode is the intersection of the confidence domain and the corresponding separatrix of the unforced deterministic model. An effectiveness of this analytical approach is confirmed by the good agreement of theoretical estimates and results of direct numerical simulations.

  8. Different versions of the shifting mode of reproduction models describe set of the macroeconomic production subsystems interacting with each other, to each of which there corresponds the household. These subsystems differ among themselves on age of the fixed capital used by them as they alternately stop production for its updating by own forces (for repair of the equipment and for introduction of the innovations increasing production efficiency). It essentially distinguishes this type of models from the models describing the mode of joint reproduction in case of which updating of fixed capital and production of a product happen simultaneously. Models of the shifting mode of reproduction allow to describe mechanisms of such phenomena as cash circulations and amortization, and also to describe different types of monetary policy, allow to interpret mechanisms of economic growth in a new way. Unlike many other macroeconomic models, model of this class in which the subsystems competing among themselves serially get an advantage in comparison with the others because of updating, essentially not equilibrium. They were originally described as a systems of ordinary differential equations with abruptly varying coefficients. In the numerical calculations which were carried out for these systems depending on parameter values and initial conditions both regular, and not regular dynamics was revealed. This paper shows that the simplest versions of this model without the use of additional approximations can be represented in a discrete form (in the form of non-linear mappings) with different variants (continuous and discrete) financial flows between subsystems (interpreted as wages and subsidies). This form of representation is more convenient for receipt of analytical results as well as for a more economical and accurate numerical calculations. In particular, its use allowed to determine the entry conditions corresponding to coordinated and sustained economic growth without systematic lagging in production of a product of one subsystems from others.

Consideration of psychological factors in models of the battle (conflict)
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2016, v. 8, no. 6, pp. 951-964

The course and outcome of the battle is largely dependent on the morale of the troops, characterized by the percentage of loss in killed and wounded, in which the troops still continue to fight. Every fight is a psychological act of ending his rejection of one of the parties. Typically, models of battle psychological factor taken into account in the decision of Lanchester equations (the condition of equality of forces, when the number of one of the parties becomes zero). It is emphasized that the model Lanchester type satisfactorily describe the dynamics of the battle only in the initial stages. To resolve this contradiction is proposed to use a modification of Lanchester's equations, taking into account the fact that at any moment of the battle on the enemy firing not affected and did not abandon the battle fighters. The obtained differential equations are solved by numerical method and allow the dynamics to take into account the influence of psychological factor and evaluate the completion time of the conflict. Computational experiments confirm the known military theory is the fact that the fight usually ends in refusal of soldiers of one of the parties from its continuation (avoidance of combat in various forms). Along with models of temporal and spatial dynamics proposed to use a modification of the technology features of the conflict of S. Skaperdas, based on the principles of combat. To estimate the probability of victory of one side in the battle takes into account the interest of the maturing sides of the bloody casualties and increased military superiority.

High-speed penetration. Discrete-element simulation and experiments
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2017, v. 9, no. 6, pp. 937-944

The paper presents the results of numerical simulation and experimental data on the high-speed penetration of the impactor into the obstacle. In the calculations, a discrete-element model has been used, based on the representation of the impactor and the target by a set of close packed interconnected particles. This class of models finds an increasingly wide application in the problems of high-speed interaction of bodies. In the previous works of the authors, the questions of application of the discrete-element model to the problem of the penetration of spherical impactors into massive targets were considered. On the basis of a comparative analysis of the data of computational and physical experiments, it was found out that for a wide class of high-speed penetration problems, a high accuracy of discrete-element modeling can be achieved using the two-parameter Lennard–Jones potential. The binding energy was identified as a function of the dynamic hardness of materials. It was shown that the use of this approach makes it possible to describe accurately the penetration process in the range of impactor velocities 500–2500 m/c.

In this paper, we compare the results of discrete-element modeling with experimental data on penetration of high-strength targets of different thickness by steel impactors. The use of computational parallelization technologies on graphic processors in combination with 3D visualization and animation of the results makes it possible to obtain detailed spatio-temporal patterns of the penetration process and compare them with experimental data.

A comparative analysis of the experimental and calculated data has shown a sufficiently high accuracy of discrete-element modeling for a wide range of target thicknesses: for thin targets pierced with preservation of the integrity of the deformed impactor, for targets of medium thickness, pierced with practically complete fragmentation of the impactor at the exit from the target, and for thick impenetrable targets.
