The paper reviews the main results of the study of real social networks (networks of collaboration between scientists and actors, networks of citation of scientific publications, networks of friends and acquaintances, etc.) and modern online social networks (Twitter, Facebook etc.) from the complex networks theory standpoint. Based on original research by the authors, it reveals peculiarities of perception of certain complex networks.

The solution of the logistics task of fuel supply for the regional distributed heat supply system
Computer Research and Modeling, 2012, v. 4, no. 2, pp. 451-470Views (last year): 1. Citations: 6 (RSCI).The technique for solving the logistic task of fuel supply in the region, including the interconnected tasks of routing, clustering, optimal distribution of resources and stock control is proposed. The calculations have been carried out on the example of fuel supply system of the Udmurt Republic.

The modeling of dense materials with spherepolyhedra packing method
Computer Research and Modeling, 2012, v. 4, no. 4, pp. 757-766Views (last year): 7. Citations: 6 (RSCI).The paper presents a new dense material modeling method based on spherepolyhedra packing algorithm, describes mathematical model of spherepolyhedra and discuss the results of computation experiments on different spherepolyhedra packs. The results of experiments show convergence of proposed method. Experiments include investigations of spherepolyhedra packs with different shapes, polydisperse and oriented structures. Presented method would be applied to virtual design of dense materials composed of non-spherical particles.

Comparing of a quasisteady and nonsteady mathematical models of fluid flow in evaporating drop
Computer Research and Modeling, 2012, v. 4, no. 4, pp. 811-825Views (last year): 4. Citations: 6 (RSCI).The work aims to study the admissibility of the quasi-steady approach application in fluid flow modeling inside of evaporating drops placed on a solid horizontal substrate. Non-steady model has been developed to compare results with a quasi-steady model. For the first time one-dimensional motion equation of fluid in a drop is proposed from a momentum conservation law. We have shown that inward flow is possible on the edge of drop in one-dimensional models. It may be explained by existence of stagnation points.

Numerical identification of the dehydriding model in a BOINC-based grid system
Computer Research and Modeling, 2013, v. 5, no. 1, pp. 37-45Citations: 6 (RSCI).In the paper we consider the inverse problem of evaluating kinetic parameters of the model of dehydriding of metal powder using experimental data. The «blind search» in the space of parameters revealed multiple physically reasonable solutions. The solutions were obtained using high–performance computational modeling based on BOINC–grid.

Searching for connections between biological and physico-chemical characteristics of Rybinsk reservoir ecosystem. Part 1. Criteria of connection nonrandomness
Computer Research and Modeling, 2013, v. 5, no. 1, pp. 83-105Views (last year): 3. Citations: 6 (RSCI).Based on contents of phytoplankton pigments, fluorescence samples and some physico-chemical characteristics of the Rybinsk reservoir waters, searching for connections between biological and physicalchemical characteristics is working out. The standard methods of statistical analysis (correlation, regression), methods of description of connection between qualitative classes of characteristics, based on deviation of the studied characteristics distribution from independent distribution, are studied. A method of searching for boundaries of quality classes by criterion of maximum connection coefficient is offered.

Deviation from Benford’s law and identification of author peculiarities in texts
Computer Research and Modeling, 2015, v. 7, no. 1, pp. 197-201Views (last year): 4. Citations: 6 (RSCI).The distribution of the first significant digit in numerals of connected texts is considered. Benford's law is found to hold approximately for them. Deviations from Benford's law are statistically significant author peculiarities that allow, under certain conditions, to distinguish between parts of the text with a different authorship.

Synthesis of the simulation and monitoring processes for the development of big data storage and processing facilities in physical experiments
Computer Research and Modeling, 2015, v. 7, no. 3, pp. 691-698Views (last year): 4. Citations: 6 (RSCI).The paper presents a new grid and cloud services simulation system. This system is developed in LIT JINR, Dubna, and it is aimed at improving the efficiency of the grid-cloud systems development by using work quality indicators of some real system to design and predict its evolution. For these purpose, simulation program is combined with real monitoring system of the grid-cloud service through a special database. The paper provides an example of the program usage to simulate a sufficiently general cloud structure, which can be used for more common purposes.

The correction to Newton's methods of optimization
Computer Research and Modeling, 2015, v. 7, no. 4, pp. 835-863Views (last year): 1. Citations: 6 (RSCI).An approach to the decrease of norm of the correction in Newton’s methods of optimization, based on the Cholesky’s factorization is presented, which is based on the integration with the technique of the choice of leading element of algorithm of linear programming as a method of solving the system of equations. We investigate the issues of increasing of the numerical stability of the Cholesky’s decomposition and the Gauss’ method of exception.

The algorithm of the method for calculating quality classes’ boundaries for quantitative systems’ characteristics and for determination of interactions between characteristics. Part 1. Calculation for two quality classes
Computer Research and Modeling, 2016, v. 8, no. 1, pp. 19-36Views (last year): 1. Citations: 6 (RSCI).A calculation method for boundaries of quality classes for quantitative systems characteristics of any nature is suggested. The method allows to determine interactions which are not detectable using correlation and regression analysis; quality classes’ boundaries of systems’ condition indicator and boundaries of the factors influencing this condition; contribution of the factors to a degree of «inadmissibility» of indicator values; sufficiency of the program observing the factors to describe the causes of «inadmissibility» of indicator values.
