Neural network model of human intoxication functional state determining in some problems of transport safety solution
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2018, v. 10, no. 3, pp. 285-293

This article solves the problem of vehicles drivers intoxication functional statedetermining. Its solution is relevant in the transport security field during pre-trip medical examination. The problem solution is based on the papillomometry method application, which allows to evaluate the driver state by his pupillary reaction to illumination change. The problem is to determine the state of driver inebriation by the analysis of the papillogram parameters values — a time series characterizing the change in pupil dimensions upon exposure to a short-time light pulse. For the papillograms analysis it is proposed to use a neural network. A neural network model for determining the drivers intoxication functional state is developed. For its training, specially prepared data samples are used which are the values of the following parameters of pupillary reactions grouped into two classes of functional states of drivers: initial diameter, minimum diameter, half-constriction diameter, final diameter, narrowing amplitude, rate of constriction, expansion rate, latent reaction time, the contraction time, the expansion time, the half-contraction time, and the half-expansion time. An example of the initial data is given. Based on their analysis, a neural network model is constructed in the form of a single-layer perceptron consisting of twelve input neurons, twenty-five neurons of the hidden layer, and one output neuron. To increase the model adequacy using the method of ROC analysis, the optimal cut-off point for the classes of solutions at the output of the neural network is determined. A scheme for determining the drivers intoxication state is proposed, which includes the following steps: pupillary reaction video registration, papillogram construction, parameters values calculation, data analysis on the base of the neural network model, driver’s condition classification as “norm” or “rejection of the norm”, making decisions on the person being audited. A medical worker conducting driver examination is presented with a neural network assessment of his intoxication state. On the basis of this assessment, an opinion on the admission or removal of the driver from driving the vehicle is drawn. Thus, the neural network model solves the problem of increasing the efficiency of pre-trip medical examination by increasing the reliability of the decisions made.

Modern methods of mathematical modeling of blood flow using reduced order methods
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2018, v. 10, no. 5, pp. 581-604

The study of the physiological and pathophysiological processes in the cardiovascular system is one of the important contemporary issues, which is addressed in many works. In this work, several approaches to the mathematical modelling of the blood flow are considered. They are based on the spatial order reduction and/or use a steady-state approach. Attention is paid to the discussion of the assumptions and suggestions, which are limiting the scope of such models. Some typical mathematical formulations are considered together with the brief review of their numerical implementation. In the first part, we discuss the models, which are based on the full spatial order reduction and/or use a steady-state approach. One of the most popular approaches exploits the analogy between the flow of the viscous fluid in the elastic tubes and the current in the electrical circuit. Such models can be used as an individual tool. They also used for the formulation of the boundary conditions in the models using one dimensional (1D) and three dimensional (3D) spatial coordinates. The use of the dynamical compartment models allows describing haemodynamics over an extended period (by order of tens of cardiac cycles and more). Then, the steady-state models are considered. They may use either total spatial reduction or two dimensional (2D) spatial coordinates. This approach is used for simulation the blood flow in the region of microcirculation. In the second part, we discuss the models, which are based on the spatial order reduction to the 1D coordinate. The models of this type require relatively small computational power relative to the 3D models. Within the scope of this approach, it is also possible to include all large vessels of the organism. The 1D models allow simulation of the haemodynamic parameters in every vessel, which is included in the model network. The structure and the parameters of such a network can be set according to the literature data. It also exists methods of medical data segmentation. The 1D models may be derived from the 3D Navier – Stokes equations either by asymptotic analysis or by integrating them over a volume. The major assumptions are symmetric flow and constant shape of the velocity profile over a cross-section. These assumptions are somewhat restrictive and arguable. Some of the current works paying attention to the 1D model’s validation, to the comparing different 1D models and the comparing 1D models with clinical data. The obtained results reveal acceptable accuracy. It allows concluding, that the 1D approach can be used in medical applications. 1D models allow describing several dynamical processes, such as pulse wave propagation, Korotkov’s tones. Some physiological conditions may be included in the 1D models: gravity force, muscles contraction force, regulation and autoregulation.

Structural models of product in CAD-systems
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2024, v. 16, no. 5, pp. 1079-1091

Computer-aided assembly planning of complex products is an important area of modern information technology. The sequence of assembly and decomposition of the product into assembly units largely depend on the mechanical structure of a technical system (machine, mechanical device, etc.). In most modern research, the mechanical structure of products is modeled using a graph of connections and its various modifications. The coordination of parts during assembly can be achieved by implementing several connections at the same time. This generates a $k$-ary basing relation on a set of product parts, which cannot be correctly described by graph means. A hypergraph model of the mechanical structure of a product is proposed. Modern discrete manufacturing uses sequential coherent assembly operations. The mathematical description of such operations is the normal contraction of edges of the hypergraph model. The sequence of contractions that transform the hypergraph into a point is a description of the assembly plan. Hypergraphs for which such a transformation exists are called $s$-hypergraphs. $S$-hypergraphs are correct mathematical models of the mechanical structures of any assembled products. A theorem on necessary conditions for the contractibility of $s$-hypergraphs is given. It is shown that the necessary conditions are not sufficient. An example of a noncontractible hypergraph for which the necessary conditions are satisfied is given. This means that the design of a complex technical system may contain hidden structural errors that make assembly of the product impossible. Therefore, finding sufficient conditions for contractibility is an important task. Two theorems on sufficient conditions for contractibility are proved. They provide a theoretical basis for developing an efficient computational procedure for finding all $s$-subgraphs of an $s$-hypergraph. An $s$-subgraph is a model of any part of a product that can be assembled independently. These are, first of all, assembly units of various levels of hierarchy. The set of all $s$-subgraphs of an $s$-hypergraph, ordered by inclusion, is a lattice. This model can be used to synthesize all possible sequences of assembly and disassembly of a product and its components. The lattice model of the product allows you to analyze geometric obstacles during assembly using algebraic means.

Hypergraph approach in the decomposition of complex technical systems
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2020, v. 12, no. 5, pp. 1007-1022

The article considers a mathematical model of decomposition of a complex product into assembly units. This is an important engineering problem, which affects the organization of discrete production and its operational management. A review of modern approaches to mathematical modeling and automated computer-aided of decompositions is given. In them, graphs, networks, matrices, etc. serve as mathematical models of structures of technical systems. These models describe the mechanical structure as a binary relation on a set of system elements. The geometrical coordination and integrity of machines and mechanical devices during the manufacturing process is achieved by means of basing. In general, basing can be performed on several elements simultaneously. Therefore, it represents a variable arity relation, which can not be correctly described in terms of binary mathematical structures. A new hypergraph model of mechanical structure of technical system is described. This model allows to give an adequate formalization of assembly operations and processes. Assembly operations which are carried out by two working bodies and consist in realization of mechanical connections are considered. Such operations are called coherent and sequential. This is the prevailing type of operations in modern industrial practice. It is shown that the mathematical description of such operation is normal contraction of an edge of the hypergraph. A sequence of contractions transforming the hypergraph into a point is a mathematical model of the assembly process. Two important theorems on the properties of contractible hypergraphs and their subgraphs proved by the author are presented. The concept of $s$-hypergraphs is introduced. $S$-hypergraphs are the correct mathematical models of mechanical structures of any assembled technical systems. Decomposition of a product into assembly units is defined as cutting of an $s$-hypergraph into $s$-subgraphs. The cutting problem is described in terms of discrete mathematical programming. Mathematical models of structural, topological and technological constraints are obtained. The objective functions are proposed that formalize the optimal choice of design solutions in various situations. The developed mathematical model of product decomposition is flexible and open. It allows for extensions that take into account the characteristics of the product and its production.

  5. The present article describes the authors’ model of construction of the distributed computer network and realization in it of the distributed calculations which are carried out within the limits of the software-information environment providing management of the information, automated and engineering systems of intellectual buildings. The presented model is based on the functional approach with encapsulation of the non-determined calculations and various side effects in monadic calculations that allows to apply all advantages of functional programming to a choice and execution of scenarios of management of various aspects of life activity of buildings and constructions. Besides, the described model can be used together with process of intellectualization of technical and sociotechnical systems for increase of level of independence of decision-making on management of values of parameters of the internal environment of a building, and also for realization of methods of adaptive management, in particular application of various techniques and approaches of an artificial intellect. According to the authors it will allow one to realize new technologies and methods — the distributed register on the basis of the directed acyclic graph, calculation on edge and the hybrid scheme of construction of artificial intellectual systems — and all this together can be used for increase of efficiency of management of intellectual buildings. Actuality of the presented model is based on necessity and importance of translation of processes of management of life cycle of buildings and constructions in paradigm of Industry 4.0 and application for management of methods of an artificial intellect with universal introduction of independent artificial cognitive agents. Model novelty follows from cumulative consideration of the distributed calculations within the limits of the functional approach and hybrid paradigm of construction of artificial intellectual agents for management of intellectual buildings. The work is theoretical. The article will be interesting to scientists and engineers working in the field of automation of technological and industrial processes both within the limits of intellectual buildings, and concerning management of complex technical and social and technical systems as a whole.

Molecular dynamics assessment of the mechanical properties of fibrillar actin
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2022, v. 14, no. 5, pp. 1081-1092

Actin is a conserved structural protein that is expressed in all eukaryotic cells. When polymerized, it forms long filaments of fibrillar actin, or F-actin, which are involved in the formation of the cytoskeleton, in muscle contraction and its regulation, and in many other processes. The dynamic and mechanical properties of actin are important for interaction with other proteins and the realization of its numerous functions in the cell. We performed 204.8 ns long molecular dynamics (MD) simulations of an actin filament segment consisting of 24 monomers in the absence and the presence of MgADP at 300 K in the presence of a solvent and at physiological ionic strength using the AMBER99SBILDN and CHARMM36 force fields in the GROMACS software environment, using modern structural models as the initial structure obtained by high-resolution cryoelectron microscopy. MD calculations have shown that the stationary regime of fluctuations in the structure of the F-actin long segment is developed 80–100 ns after the start of the MD trajectory. Based on the results of MD calculations, the main parameters of the actin helix and its bending, longitudinal, and torsional stiffness were estimated using a section of the calculation model that is far enough away from its ends. The estimated subunit axial (2.72–2.75 nm) and angular (165–168) translation of the F-actin helix, its bending (2.8–4.7 · 10−26 N·m2), longitudinal (36–47·10−9 N), and torsional (2.6–3.1·10−26 N·m2) stiffness are in good agreement with the results of the most reliable experiments. The results of MD calculations have shown that modern structural models of F-actin make it possible to accurately describe its dynamics and mechanical properties, provided that computational models contain a sufficiently large number of monomers, modern force fields, and relatively long MD trajectories are used. The inclusion of actin partner proteins, in particular, tropomyosin and troponin, in the MD model can help to understand the molecular mechanisms of such important processes as the regulation of muscle contraction.

Methodology of aircraft icing calculation in a wide range of climate and speed parameters. Applicability within the NLG-25 airworthiness standards
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2023, v. 15, no. 4, pp. 957-978

Certifying a transport airplane for the flights under icing conditions in Russia was carried out within the framework of the requirements of Annex С to the AP-25 Aviation Rules. In force since 2023 to replace AP-25 the new Russian certification document “Airworthiness Standards” (NLG-25) proposes the introduction of Appendix O. A feature of Appendix O is the need to carry out calculations in conditions of high liquid water content and with large water drops (500 microns or more). With such parameters of the dispersed flow, such physical processes as the disruption and splashing of a water film when large drops enter it become decisive. The flow of a dispersed medium under such conditions is essentially polydisperse. This paper describes the modifications of the IceVision technique implemented on the basis of the FlowVision software package for the ice accretion calculations within the framework of Appendix O.

The main difference between the IceVision method and the known approaches is the use of the Volume of fluid (VOF) technology to the shape of ice changes tracking. The external flow around the aircraft is calculated simultaneously with the growth of ice and its heating. Ice is explicitly incorporated in the computational domain; the heat transfer equation is solved in it. Unlike the Lagrangian approaches, the Euler computational grid is not completely rebuilt in the IceVision technique: only the cells containing the contact surface are changed.

The IceVision 2.0 version accounts for stripping the film, as well as bouncing and splashing of falling drops at the surfaces of the aircraft and ice. The diameter of secondary droplets is calculated using known empirical correlations. The speed of the water film flow over the surface is determined taking into account the action of aerodynamic forces, gravity, hydrostatic pressure gradient and surface tension force. The result of taking into account surface tension is the effect of contraction of the film, which leads to the formation of water flows in the form of rivulets and ice deposits in the form of comb-like growths. An energy balance relation is fulfilled on the ice surface that takes into account the energy of falling drops, heat exchange between ice and air, the heat of crystallization, evaporation, sublimation and condensation. The paper presents the results of solving benchmark and model problems, demonstrating the effectiveness of the IceVision technique and the reliability of the obtained results.

Current issues in computational modeling of thrombosis, fibrinolysis, and thrombolysis
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2024, v. 16, no. 4, pp. 975-995

Hemostasis system is one of the key body’s defense systems, which is presented in all the liquid tissues and especially important in blood. Hemostatic response is triggered as a result of the vessel injury. The interaction between specialized cells and humoral systems leads to the formation of the initial hemostatic clot, which stops bleeding. After that the slow process of clot dissolution occurs. The formation of hemostatic plug is a unique physiological process, because during several minutes the hemostatic system generates complex structures on a scale ranging from microns for microvessel injury or damaged endothelial cell-cell contacts, to centimeters for damaged systemic arteries. Hemostatic response depends on the numerous coordinated processes, which include platelet adhesion and aggregation, granule secretion, platelet shape change, modification of the chemical composition of the lipid bilayer, clot contraction, and formation of the fibrin mesh due to activation of blood coagulation cascade. Computer modeling is a powerful tool, which is used to study this complex system at different levels of organization. This includes study of intracellular signaling in platelets, modelling humoral systems of blood coagulation and fibrinolysis, and development of the multiscale models of thrombus growth. There are two key issues of the computer modeling in biology: absence of the adequate physico-mathematical description of the existing experimental data due to the complexity of the biological processes, and high computational complexity of the models, which doesn’t allow to use them to test physiologically relevant scenarios. Here we discuss some key unresolved problems in the field, as well as the current progress in experimental research of hemostasis and thrombosis. New findings lead to reevaluation of the existing concepts and development of the novel computer models. We focus on the arterial thrombosis, venous thrombosis, thrombosis in microcirculation and the problems of fibrinolysis and thrombolysis. We also briefly discuss basic types of the existing mathematical models, their computational complexity, and principal issues in simulation of thrombus growth in arteries.

Effects of the heart contractility and its vascular load on the heart rate in athlets
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2017, v. 9, no. 2, pp. 323-329

Heart rate (HR) is the most affordable indicator for measuring. In order to control the individual response to physical exercises of different load types heart rate is measured when the athletes perform different types of muscular work (strength machines, various types of training and competitive exercises). The magnitude of heart rate and its dynamics during muscular work and recovery can be objectively judged on the functional status of the cardiovascular system of an athlete, the level of its individual physical performance, as well as an adaptive response to a particular exercise. However, the heart rate is not an independent determinant of the physical condition of an athlete. HR size is formed by the interaction of the basic physiological mechanisms underlying cardiac hemodynamic ejection mode. Heart rate depends on one hand, on contractility of the heart, the venous return, the volumes of the atria and ventricles of the heart and from vascular heart load, the main components of which are elastic and peripheral resistance of the arterial system on the other hand. The values of arterial system vascular resistances depend on the power of muscular work and its duration. HR sensitivity to changes in heart load and vascular contraction was determined in athletes by pair regression analysis simultaneously recorded heart rate data, and peripheral $(R)$ and elastic $(E_a)$ resistance (heart vascular load), and the power $(W)$ of heartbeats (cardiac contractility). The coefficients of sensitivity and pair correlation between heart rate indicators and vascular load and contractility of left ventricle of the heart were determined in athletes at rest and during the muscular work on the cycle ergometer. It is shown that increase in both ergometer power load and heart rate is accompanied by the increase of correlation coefficients and coefficients of the heart rate sensitivity to $R$, $E_a$ and $W$.

Nonextensive Tsallis statistics of contract system of prime contractors and subcontractors in defense industry
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2022, v. 14, no. 5, pp. 1163-1183

In this work, we analyze the system of contracts made by Russian defense enterprises in the process of state defense order execution. We conclude that methods of statistical mechanics can be applied to the description of the given system. Following the original grand-canonical ensemble approach, we can create the statistical ensemble under investigation as a set of instant snapshots of indistinguishable contracts having individual values. We show that due to government regulations of contract prices the contract system can be described in terms of nonextensive Tsallis statistics. We have found that probability distributions of contract prices correspond to deformed Bose – Einstein distributions obtained using nonextensive Tsallis entropy. This conclusion is true both in the case of the whole set of contracts and in the case of the contracts made by an individual defense company as a seller.

In order to analyze how deformed Bose – Einstein distributions fit the empirical contract price distributions we compare the corresponding cumulative distribution functions. We conclude that annual distributions of individual sales which correspond to each company’s contract (order) can be used as relevant data for contract price distributions analysis. The empirical cumulative distribution functions for the individual sales ranking of Concern CSRI Elektropribor, one of the leading Russian defense companies, are analyzed for the period 2007–2021. The theoretical cumulative distribution functions, obtained using deformed Bose – Einstein distributions in the case of «rare contract gas» limit, fit well to the empirical cumulative distribution functions. The fitted values for the entropic index show that the degree of nonextensivity of the system under investigations is rather high. It is shown that the characteristic prices of distributions can be estimated by weighing the values of annual individual sales with the escort probabilities. Given that the fitted values of chemical potential are equal to zero, we suggest that «gas of contracts» can be compared to photon gas in which the number of particles is not conserved.
