Numerical solution of a two-dimensional quasi-static problem of thermoplasticity: residual thermal stress calculation for a multipass welding of heterogeneous steels
Computer Research and Modeling, 2012, v. 4, no. 2, pp. 345-356Views (last year): 4. Citations: 6 (RSCI).A two-dimensional mathematical model was developed for estimating the stresses in welded joints formed during multipass welding of multilayer steels. The basis of the model is the system of equations that includes the Lagrange variational equation of incremental plasticity theory and the variational equation of heat conduction, which expresses the principle of M. Biot. Variational-difference method was used to solve the problems of heat conductivity and calculation of the transient temperature field, and then at each time step – for the quasi-static problem of thermoplasticity. The numerical scheme is based on triangular meshes, which gives a more accuracy in describing the boundaries of structural elements as compared to rectangular grids.

Benchmark «line-by-line» calculations of atmospheric radiation
Computer Research and Modeling, 2012, v. 4, no. 3, pp. 553-562Views (last year): 4. Citations: 3 (RSCI).The paper presents the methodology of «line-by-line» calculations of the Earth and atmosphere thermal radiation. Intensity of radiation is computed by numerical integration of the radiative transfer kinetic equation and the system of the angular momentum equations using quasi-diffusion method. Data from HITRAN molecular spectroscopic database [Rothman et al., 2009] are used to calculate the atmosphere optical parameters.

Numerical simulation of heat and mass transfer processes in microchannels using CFD-package σFlow
Computer Research and Modeling, 2012, v. 4, no. 4, pp. 781-792Views (last year): 4. Citations: 3 (RSCI).This article is dedicated to numerical modeling of heat and mass transfer processes in microchannels. Microchannels are channels, that characteristic diameter is about 100 μm. Interest to the study of processes in them is growing every year, due to the rapid development of microfluid technique. The study was conducted using the software package σFlow. Isothermal and nonisothermal flows in microchannels of various configurations were considered. The obtained results were compared with available experimental and analytical data. In general for all problems a good agreement was obtained.

Comparing of a quasisteady and nonsteady mathematical models of fluid flow in evaporating drop
Computer Research and Modeling, 2012, v. 4, no. 4, pp. 811-825Views (last year): 4. Citations: 6 (RSCI).The work aims to study the admissibility of the quasi-steady approach application in fluid flow modeling inside of evaporating drops placed on a solid horizontal substrate. Non-steady model has been developed to compare results with a quasi-steady model. For the first time one-dimensional motion equation of fluid in a drop is proposed from a momentum conservation law. We have shown that inward flow is possible on the edge of drop in one-dimensional models. It may be explained by existence of stagnation points.

Multi-particle Brownian Dynamics software ProKSim for protein-protein interactions modeling
Computer Research and Modeling, 2013, v. 5, no. 1, pp. 47-64Views (last year): 4. Citations: 8 (RSCI).Protein-protein interactions are of central importance for virtually every process in living matter. Modeling the dynamics of protein association is crucial for understanding their functionality. This paper proposes novel simulation software ProKSim (Protein Kinetics Simulator) for modeling of protein interactions by means of the multi-particle Brownian Dynamics. Effect of long-range electrostatic interactions on the process of transient encounter complex formation is numerically estimated. Investigation of transient encounter complex formation was performed for three pairs of proteins: ferredoxin and ferredoxin:NADP+-redustase, plastocyanin and cytochrome f, barnase and barstar.

Numerical simulation of unsteady conjugate natural convection in a cylindrical porous domain (Darcy–Boussinesq model)
Computer Research and Modeling, 2013, v. 5, no. 2, pp. 179-191Views (last year): 4. Citations: 3 (RSCI).Mathematical simulation on unsteady natural convection in a closed porous cylindrical cavity having finite thickness heat-conducting solid walls in conditions of convective heat exchange with an environment has been carried out. A boundary-value problem of mathematical physics formulated in dimensionless variables such as stream function and temperature on the basis of Darcy–Boussinesq model has been solved by finite difference method. Effect of a porous medium permeability 10–5≤Da<∞, ratio between a solid wall thickness and the inner radius of a cylinder 0.1≤h/L≤0.3, a thermal conductivity ratio 1≤λ1,2≤20 and a dimensionless time on both local distributions of isolines and isotherms and integral complexes reflecting an intensity of convective flow and heat transfer has been analyzed in detail.

Computer Research and Modeling, 2013, v. 5, no. 2, pp. 193-203Views (last year): 4. Citations: 4 (RSCI).This work considers the problem of optimal control galvanic process in multianode bath. The nonstationary mathematical model of galvanic process, which considers change concentrations of electrolyte components, is developed. Mathematic modeling of thermal distillation of water in film flowing under vacuum
Computer Research and Modeling, 2013, v. 5, no. 2, pp. 205-211Views (last year): 4. Citations: 1 (RSCI).The article is dedicated to mathematic modeling of natural water desalination process by method of thermal distillation. The article gives the equations which allow describing the processes of film flowing and boiling of water, steam condensation and vacuum maintenance. The article presents the algorithm of calculation, implemented in MatLab computer mathematic system and Excel electronic tables, and the initial data required for the calculation. The model has been checked for adequacy. The calculation of ten-effect distillation system is given. Searching for connections between biological and physico-chemical characteristics of Rybinsk reservoir ecosystem. Part 3. Calculation of the boundaries of water quality classes
Computer Research and Modeling, 2013, v. 5, no. 3, pp. 451-471Views (last year): 4. Citations: 4 (RSCI).Approbation of calculation of borders of water quality classes for the purpose of ecological diagnosis and standardization by data of the Rybinsk reservoir is carried out. For bioindication indicators of phytoplankton fluorescence and the contents of pigments of phytoplankton are used. Chesnokov's importance coefficient proved to be the most preferred measure of connection for analyzing the effects of environmental factors on indicators. The factors important for environmental condition are identified. Comparison of borders between quality classes “valid” and “invalid” of factors values and boundaries of the classifications of water quality.
