Modelling diameter measurement errors of a wide-aperture laser beam with flat profile

Citations: 3 (RSCI).Work is devoted to modeling instrumental errors of a laser beam diameter measurement using a method based on a lambertian transmissive screen. Super-Lorenz distribution was used as a model of the beam. To determine the effect of each parameter on the measurement error were performed computational experiments, results of which were approximated by analytic functions. There were obtained the errors depending on relative beam size, spatial non-uniformity of the transmission screen, lens distortion, physical vignetting, beam tilt, CCD spatial resolution, ADC resolution of a camera. There was shown that the error can be less then 1 %.

Statistical modeling of the production processes оf the flexible automated assembly in the object-oriented programming environment

JINR TIER-1-level computing system for the CMS experiment at LHC: status and perspectives

Citations: 2 (RSCI).The Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) is a high-performance general-purpose detector at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. A distributed data analysis system for processing and further analysis of CMS experimental data has been developed and this model foresees the obligatory usage of modern grid-technologies. The CMS Computing Model makes use of the hierarchy of computing centers (Tiers). The Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) takes an active part in the CMS experiment. In order to provide a proper computing infrastructure for the CMS experiment at JINR and for Russian institutes collaborating in CMS, Tier-1 center for the CMS experiment is constructing at JINR. The main tasks and services of the CMS Tier-1 at JINR are described. The status and perspectives of the Tier1 center for the CMS experiment at JINR are presented.

Choice of design of transcatheter aortic valve prosthesis frame based on finite element analysis

Citations: 1 (RSCI).This article presents an analysis of the impact of the transcatheter prosthesis frame design features on the results of its implantation in the aortic root model. In this paper we analyzed the various approaches to the design of such structures, as well as modifications in order to improve their functional characteristics during the implantation. As a general method for obtaining the results of interaction of the objects was used finite element method with nonlinear materials description and analysis of the main parameters: the stress-strain state, radial and friction forces.

Numerical simulation of electromagnetic properties of the saturated rock media with surface conductivity effects

Citations: 1 (RSCI).New numerical simulation technique to calculate electrical properties of rocks with two-phase “oil– water” saturation is proposed. This technique takes into account surface conductivity of electrical double layers at the contact between solid rock and aqueous solution inside pore space. The numerical simulation technique is based on acquiring of electrical potential distribution in high-resolution three-dimensional digital model of porous medium. The digital model incorporates the spatial geometry of pore channels and contains bulk and surface grid cells. Numerical simulation results demonstrate the importance of surface conductivity effects.

Investigation of individual-based mechanisms of single-species population dynamics by logical deterministic cellular automata

Citations: 3 (RSCI).Investigation of logical deterministic cellular automata models of population dynamics allows to reveal detailed individual-based mechanisms. The search for such mechanisms is important in connection with ecological problems caused by overexploitation of natural resources, environmental pollution and climate change. Classical models of population dynamics have the phenomenological nature, as they are “black boxes”. Phenomenological models fundamentally complicate research of detailed mechanisms of ecosystem functioning. We have investigated the role of fecundity and duration of resources regeneration in mechanisms of population growth using four models of ecosystem with one species. These models are logical deterministic cellular automata and are based on physical axiomatics of excitable medium with regeneration. We have modeled catastrophic death of population arising from increasing of resources regeneration duration. It has been shown that greater fecundity accelerates population extinction. The investigated mechanisms are important for understanding mechanisms of sustainability of ecosystems and biodiversity conservation. Prospects of the presented modeling approach as a method of transparent multilevel modeling of complex systems are discussed.

Modeling the structural element of flexible woven composites under static tension using the method of finite element in ANSYS

The reinforcing cloth is a plain weave of threads of assembled harness. Threads are represented by elastic material. The matrix of the material is a soft polymer with the possibility of irreversible deformations. Taken into account the possibility of the occurrence of damage in the structure of the material under high loads. Built detailed diagram of deformation under uniaxial tension. The accuracy of the model is conrmed by in situ experiments.

Sectional model of non-free tree growth

Citations: 1 (RSCI).The three-dimensional model of biomass dynamics of a tree growing on a limited territory presented. The tree consists of structural sections periodically arising on its top. Each section generates a virtual "tree". Adjacent virtual trees are nested each other and their difference is the section. Sections have biomass dynamics which differs from the dynamics of the tree and gradually die off (including in course of the free growth of the tree), giving effect denudation of trunk from bottom. This is observed in nature. The 3D-model of biomass dynamics of a tree, growing in a limited area, for describing the biomass dynamics of sections and their constituent sectors uses equations similar to those proposed earlier for the 2D-tree model. Examples of biomass dynamics of sectors, sections and tree obtained using the developed model are presented. The dynamics of the hodographs of the azimuthal biomass distribution of sections demonstrates that the lower sections of a tree growing in a limited area, are in oppression and die (more quickly compared with the model of freely growing tree), and new sections on top of the tree appear and grow freely. As a result, "wave" of tree biomass runs up the trunk.

Computer aided analysis of medical image recognition for example of scintigraphy

Citations: 3 (RSCI).The practical application of nuclear medicine demonstrates the continued information deficiency of the algorithms and programs that provide visualization and analysis of medical images. The aim of the study was to determine the principles of optimizing the processing of planar osteostsintigraphy on the basis of сomputer aided diagnosis (CAD) for analysis of texture descriptions of images of metastatic zones on planar scintigrams of skeleton. A computer-aided diagnosis system for analysis of skeletal metastases based on planar scintigraphy data has been developed. This system includes skeleton image segmentation, calculation of textural, histogram and morphometrical parameters and the creation of a training set. For study of metastatic images’ textural characteristics on planar scintigrams of skeleton was developed the computer program of automatic analysis of skeletal metastases is used from data of planar scintigraphy. Also expert evaluation was used to distinguishing ‘pathological’ (metastatic) from ‘physiological’ (non-metastatic) radiopharmaceutical hyperfixation zones in which Haralick’s textural features were determined: autocorrelation, contrast, ‘forth moment’ and heterogeneity. This program was established on the principles of сomputer aided diagnosis researches planar scintigrams of skeletal patients with metastatic breast cancer hearths hyperfixation of radiopharmaceuticals were identified. Calculated parameters were made such as brightness, smoothness, the third moment of brightness, brightness uniformity, entropy brightness. It has been established that in most areas of the skeleton of histogram values of parameters in pathologic hyperfixation of radiopharmaceuticals predominate over the same values in the physiological. Most often pathological hyperfixation of radiopharmaceuticals as the front and rear fixed scintigramms prevalence of brightness and smoothness of the image brightness in comparison with those of the physiological hyperfixation of radiopharmaceuticals. Separate figures histogram analysis can be used in specifying the diagnosis of metastases in the mathematical modeling and interpretation bone scintigraphy. Languages in China provinces: quantitative estimation with incomplete data
Computer Research and Modeling, 2016, v. 8, no. 4, pp. 707-716Views (last year): 3.This paper formulates and solves a practical problem of data recovery regarding the distribution of languages on regional level in context of China. The necessity of this recovery is related to the problem of the determination of the linguistic diversity indices, which, in turn, are used to analyze empirically and to predict sources of social and economic development as well as to indicate potential conflicts at regional level. We use Ethnologue database and China census as the initial data sources. For every language spoken in China, the data contains (a) an estimate of China residents who claim this language to be their mother tongue, and (b) indicators of the presence of such residents in China provinces. For each pair language/province, we aim to estimate the number of the province inhabitants that claim the language to be their mother tongue. This base problem is reduced to solving an undetermined system of algebraic equations. Given additional restriction that Ethnologue database introduces data collected at different time moments because of gaps in Ethnologue language surveys and accompanying data collection expenses, we relate those data to a single time moment, that turns the initial task to an ’ill-posed’ system of algebraic equations with imprecisely determined right hand side. Therefore, we are looking for an approximate solution characterized by a minimal discrepancy of the system. Since some languages are much less distributed than the others, we minimize the weighted discrepancy, introducing weights that are inverse to the right hand side elements of the equations. This definition of discrepancy allows to recover the required variables. More than 92% of the recovered variables are robust to probabilistic modelling procedure for potential errors in initial data.
