Development of a computational environment for mathematical modeling of superconducting nanostructures with a magnet
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2023, v. 15, no. 5, pp. 1349-1358

Now days the main research activity in the field of nanotechnology is aimed at the creation, study and application of new materials and new structures. Recently, much attention has been attracted by the possibility of controlling magnetic properties using a superconducting current, as well as the influence of magnetic dynamics on the current–voltage characteristics of hybrid superconductor/ferromagnet (S/F) nanostructures. In particular, such structures include the S/F/S Josephson junction or molecular nanomagnets coupled to the Josephson junctions. Theoretical studies of the dynamics of such structures need processes of a large number of coupled nonlinear equations. Numerical modeling of hybrid superconductor/magnet nanostructures implies the calculation of both magnetic dynamics and the dynamics of the superconducting phase, which strongly increases their complexity and scale, so it is advisable to use heterogeneous computing systems.

In the course of studying the physical properties of these objects, it becomes necessary to numerically solve complex systems of nonlinear differential equations, which requires significant time and computational resources.

The currently existing micromagnetic algorithms and frameworks are based on the finite difference or finite element method and are extremely useful for modeling the dynamics of magnetization on a wide time scale. However, the functionality of existing packages does not allow to fully implement the desired computation scheme.

The aim of the research is to develop a unified environment for modeling hybrid superconductor/magnet nanostructures, providing access to solvers and developed algorithms, and based on a heterogeneous computing paradigm that allows research of superconducting elements in nanoscale structures with magnets and hybrid quantum materials. In this paper, we investigate resonant phenomena in the nanomagnet system associated with the Josephson junction. Such a system has rich resonant physics. To study the possibility of magnetic reversal depending on the model parameters, it is necessary to solve numerically the Cauchy problem for a system of nonlinear equations. For numerical simulation of hybrid superconductor/magnet nanostructures, a computing environment based on the heterogeneous HybriLIT computing platform is implemented. During the calculations, all the calculation times obtained were averaged over three launches. The results obtained here are of great practical importance and provide the necessary information for evaluating the physical parameters in superconductor/magnet hybrid nanostructures.

Difference splitting schemes for the system of one-dimensional equations of hemodynamics
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2024, v. 16, no. 2, pp. 459-488

The work is devoted to the construction and analysis of difference schemes for a system of hemodynamic equations obtained by averaging the hydrodynamic equations of a viscous incompressible fluid over the vessel cross-section. Models of blood as an ideal and as a viscous Newtonian fluid are considered. Difference schemes that approximate equations with second order on the spatial variable are proposed. The computational algorithms of the constructed schemes are based on the method of splitting on physical processes. According to this approach, at one time step, the model equations are considered separately and sequentially. The practical implementation of the proposed schemes at each time step leads to a sequential solution of two linear systems with tridiagonal matrices. It is demonstrated that the schemes are ρ-stable under minor restrictions on the time step in the case of sufficiently smooth solutions.

For the problem with a known analytical solution, it is demonstrated that the numerical solution has a second order convergence in a wide range of spatial grid step. The proposed schemes are compared with well-known explicit schemes, such as the Lax – Wendroff, Lax – Friedrichs and McCormack schemes in computational experiments on modeling blood flow in model vascular systems. It is demonstrated that the results obtained using the proposed schemes are close to the results obtained using other computational schemes, including schemes constructed by other approaches to spatial discretization. It is demonstrated that in the case of different spatial grids, the time of computation for the proposed schemes is significantly less than in the case of explicit schemes, despite the need to solve systems of linear equations at each step. The disadvantages of the schemes are the limitation on the time step in the case of discontinuous or strongly changing solutions and the need to use extrapolation of values at the boundary points of the vessels. In this regard, problems on the adaptation of splitting schemes for problems with discontinuous solutions and in cases of special types of conditions at the vessels ends are perspective for further research.

Numerical simulation of sportsman's external flow
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2017, v. 9, no. 2, pp. 331-344

Numerical simulation of moving sportsman external flow is presented. The unique method is developed for obtaining integral aerodynamic characteristics, which were the function of the flow regime (i.e. angle of attack, flow speed) and body position. Individual anthropometric characteristics and moving boundaries of sportsman (or sports equipment) during the race are taken into consideration.

Numerical simulation is realized using FlowVision CFD. The software is based on the finite volume method, high-performance numerical methods and reliable mathematical models of physical processes. A Cartesian computational grid is used by FlowVision, the grid generation is a completely automated process. Local grid adaptation is used for solving high-pressure gradient and object complex shape. Flow simulation process performed by solutions systems of equations describing movement of fluid and/or gas in the computational domain, including: mass, moment and energy conservation equations; state equations; turbulence model equations. FlowVision permits flow simulation near moving bodies by means of computational domain transformation according to the athlete shape changes in the motion. Ski jumper aerodynamic characteristics are studied during all phases: take-off performance in motion, in-run and flight. Projected investigation defined simulation method, which includes: inverted statement of sportsman external flow development (velocity of the motion is equal to air flow velocity, object is immobile); changes boundary of the body technology defining; multiple calculations with the national team member data projecting. The research results are identification of the main factors affected to jumping performance: aerodynamic forces, rotating moments etc. Developed method was tested with active sportsmen. Ski jumpers used this method during preparations for Sochi Olympic Games 2014. A comparison of the predicted characteristics and experimental data shows a good agreement. Method versatility is underlined by performing swimmer and skater flow simulation. Designed technology is applicable for sorts of natural and technical objects.

Numerical simulation of fluid flow in a blood pump in the FlowVision software package
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2023, v. 15, no. 4, pp. 1025-1038

A numerical simulation of fluid flow in a blood pump was performed using the FlowVision software package. This test problem, provided by the Center for Devices and Radiological Health of the US. Food and Drug Administration, involved considering fluid flow according to several design modes. At the same time for each case of calculation a certain value of liquid flow rate and rotor speed was set. Necessary data for calculations in the form of exact geometry, flow conditions and fluid characteristics were provided to all research participants, who used different software packages for modeling. Numerical simulations were performed in FlowVision for six calculation modes with the Newtonian fluid and standard kε turbulence model, in addition, the fifth mode with the kω SST turbulence model and with the Caro rheological fluid model were performed. In the first stage of the numerical simulation, the convergence over the mesh was investigated, on the basis of which a final mesh with a number of cells of the order of 6 million was chosen. Due to the large number of cells, in order to accelerate the study, part of the calculations was performed on the Lomonosov-2 cluster. As a result of numerical simulation, we obtained and analyzed values of pressure difference between inlet and outlet of the pump, velocity between rotor blades and in the area of diffuser, and also, we carried out visualization of velocity distribution in certain cross-sections. For all design modes there was compared the pressure difference received numerically with the experimental data, and for the fifth calculation mode there was also compared with the experiment by speed distribution between rotor blades and in the area of diffuser. Data analysis has shown good correlation of calculation results in FlowVision with experimental results and numerical simulation in other software packages. The results obtained in FlowVision for solving the US FDA test suggest that FlowVision software package can be used for solving a wide range of hemodynamic problems.

Modeling the number of employed, unemployed and economically inactive population in the Russian Far East
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2021, v. 13, no. 1, pp. 251-264

Studies of the crisis socio-demographic situation in the Russian Far East require not only the use of traditional statistical methods, but also a conceptual analysis of possible development scenarios based on the synergy principles. The article is devoted to the analysis and modeling of the number of employed, unemployed and economically inactive population using nonlinear autonomous differential equations. We studied a basic mathematical model that takes into account the principle of pair interactions, which is a special case of the model for the struggle between conditional information of D. S. Chernavsky. The point estimates for the parameters are found using least squares method adapted for this model. The average approximation error was no more than 5.17%. The calculated parameter values correspond to the unstable focus and the oscillations with increasing amplitude of population number in the asymptotic case, which indicates a gradual increase in disparities between the employed, unemployed and economically inactive population and a collapse of their dynamics. We found that in the parametric space, not far from the inertial scenario, there are domains of blow-up and chaotic regimes complicating the ability to effectively manage. The numerical study showed that a change in only one model parameter (e.g. migration) without complex structural socio-economic changes can only delay the collapse of the dynamics in the long term or leads to the emergence of unpredictable chaotic regimes. We found an additional set of the model parameters corresponding to sustainable dynamics (stable focus) which approximates well the time series of the considered population groups. In the mathematical model, the bifurcation parameters are the outflow rate of the able-bodied population, the fertility (“rejuvenation of the population”), as well as the migration inflow rate of the unemployed. We found that the transition to stable regimes is possible with the simultaneous impact on several parameters which requires a comprehensive set of measures to consolidate the population in the Russian Far East and increase the level of income in terms of compensation for infrastructure sparseness. Further economic and sociological research is required to develop specific state policy measures.

    Computer Research and Modeling, 2015, v. 7, no. 3, pp. 641-648

Efficiency and completeness of the numerical simulation in oceanography and hydrometeorology are entirely determined by algorithmic features of the construction of an interactive computer simulations in the scale of the oceans with adaptive coated closed seas and coastal waters refined mathematical models, with the possibility of specifying software parallelization calculations near the concrete — the protected areas of the sea coast. An important component of the research is continuous graphical visualization techniques in the course of calculations, including those undertaken in parallel processes with shared RAM or test points on the external media. The results of computational experiments are used in the description of hydrodynamic processes near the coast, which is important in keeping the organization of sea control services and forecasting marine hazards.

    Computer Research and Modeling, 2015, v. 7, no. 3, pp. 767-774

The paper discusses the design and verification stages in the development of complex numerical algorithms to create direct computational experiments in fluid mechanics. The modeling of physical fields and nonstationary processes of continuum mechanics, it is desirable to rely on strict rules of construction the numerical objects and related computational algorithms. Synthesis of adaptive the numerical objects and effective arithmetic- logic operations can serve to optimize the whole computing tasks, provided strict following and compliance with the original of the laws of fluid mechanics. The possibility of using ternary logic enables to resolve some contradictions of functional and declarative programming in the implementation of purely applied problems of mechanics. Similar design decisions lead to new numerical schemes tensor mathematics to help optimize effectiveness and validate correctness the simulation results. The most important consequence is the possibility of using interactive graphical techniques for the visualization of intermediate results of modeling, as well as managed to influence the course of computing experiment under the supervision of engineers aerohydrodynamics– researchers.

    Natural models of parallel computations
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2015, v. 7, no. 3, pp. 781-785

Course “Natural models of parallel computing”, given for senior students of the Faculty of Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics, Moscow State University, is devoted to the issues of supercomputer implementation of natural computational models and is, in fact, an introduction to the theory of natural computing, a relatively new branch of science, formed at the intersection of mathematics, computer science and natural sciences (especially biology). Topics of the natural computing include both already classic subjects such as cellular automata, and relatively new, introduced in the last 10–20 years, such as swarm intelligence. Despite its biological origin, all these models are widely applied in the fields related to computer data processing. Research in the field of natural computing is closely related to issues and technology of parallel computing. Presentation of theoretical material of the course is accompanied by a consideration of the possible schemes for parallel computing, in the practical part of the course it is supposed to perform by the students a software implementation using MPI technology and numerical experiments to investigate the effectiveness of the chosen schemes of parallel computing.
