  1. The paper concerns the study of the Rice statistical distribution’s peculiarities which cause the possibility of its efficient application in solving the tasks of high precision phase measuring in optics. The strict mathematical proof of the Rician distribution’s stable character is provided in the example of the differential signal consideration, namely: it has been proved that the sum or the difference of two Rician signals also obey the Rice distribution. Besides, the formulas have been obtained for the parameters of the resulting summand or differential signal’s Rice distribution. Based upon the proved stable character of the Rice distribution a new original technique of the high precision measuring of the two quasi-harmonic signals’ phase shift has been elaborated in the paper. This technique is grounded in the statistical analysis of the measured sampled data for the amplitudes of the both signals and for the amplitude of the third signal which is equal to the difference of the two signals to be compared in phase. The sought-for phase shift of two quasi-harmonic signals is being calculated from the geometrical considerations as an angle of a triangle which sides are equal to the three indicated signals’ amplitude values having been reconstructed against the noise background. Thereby, the proposed technique of measuring the phase shift using the differential signal analysis, is based upon the amplitude measurements only, what significantly decreases the demands to the equipment and simplifies the technique implementation in practice. The paper provides both the strict mathematical substantiation of a new phase shift measuring technique and the results of its numerical testing. The elaborated method of high precision phase measurements may be efficiently applied for solving a wide circle of tasks in various areas of science and technology, in particular — at distance measuring, in communication systems, in navigation, etc.

  2. The paper presents the results of theoretical investigation of the peculiarities of the quasi-harmonic signal’s phase statistical distribution, while the quasi-harmonic signal is formed as a result of the Gaussian noise impact on the initially harmonic signal. The revealed features of the phase distribution became a basis for the original technique elaborated for estimating the parameters of the initial, undistorted signal. It has been shown that the task of estimation of the initial phase value can be efficiently solved by calculating the magnitude of the mathematical expectation of the results of the phase sampled measurements, while for solving the task of estimation of the second parameter — the signal level respectively to the noise level — the dependence of the phase sampled measurements variance upon the sough-for parameter is proposed to be used. For solving this task the analytical formulas having been obtained in explicit form for the moments of lower orders of the phase distribution, are applied. A new approach to quasi-harmonic signal’s parameters estimation based on the method of moments has been developed and substantiated. In particular, the application of this method ensures a high-precision measuring the amplitude characteristics of a signal by means of the phase measurements only. The numerical results obtained by means of conducted computer simulation of the elaborated technique confirm both the theoretical conclusions and the method’s efficiency. The existence and the uniqueness of the task solution by the method of moments is substantiated. It is shown that the function that describes the dependence of the phase second central moment on the sough-for parameter, is a monotonically decreasing and thus the single-valued function. The developed method may be of interest for solving a wide range of scientific and applied tasks, connected with the necessity of estimation of both the signal level and the phase value, in such areas as data processing in systems of medical diagnostic visualization, radio-signals processing, radio-physics, optics, radio-navigation and metrology.

  3. The paper provides a solution of a task of calculating the parameters of a Rician distributed signal on the basis of the maximum likelihood principle in limiting cases of large and small values of the signal-tonoise ratio. The analytical formulas are obtained for the solution of the maximum likelihood equations’ system for the required signal and noise parameters for both the one-parameter approximation, when only one parameter is being calculated on the assumption that the second one is known a-priori, and for the two-parameter task, when both parameters are a-priori unknown. The direct calculation of required signal and noise parameters by formulas allows escaping the necessity of time resource consuming numerical solving the nonlinear equations’ s system and thus optimizing the duration of computer processing of signals and images. There are presented the results of computer simulation of a task confirming the theoretical conclusions. The task is meaningful for the purposes of Rician data processing, in particular, magnetic-resonance visualization.

Statistical distribution of the quasi-harmonic signal’s phase: basics of theory and computer simulation
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2024, v. 16, no. 2, pp. 287-297

The paper presents the results of the fundamental research directed on the theoretical study and computer simulation of peculiarities of the quasi-harmonic signal’s phase statistical distribution. The quasi-harmonic signal is known to be formed as a result of the Gaussian noise impact on the initially harmonic signal. By means of the mathematical analysis the formulas have been obtained in explicit form for the principle characteristics of this distribution, namely: for the cumulative distribution function, the probability density function, the likelihood function. As a result of the conducted computer simulation the dependencies of these functions on the phase distribution parameters have been analyzed. The paper elaborates the methods of estimating the phase distribution parameters which contain the information about the initial, undistorted signal. It has been substantiated that the task of estimating the initial value of the phase of quasi-harmonic signal can be efficiently solved by averaging the results of the sampled measurements. As for solving the task of estimating the second parameter of the phase distribution, namely — the parameter, determining the signal level respectively the noise level — a maximum likelihood technique is proposed to be applied. The graphical illustrations are presented that have been obtained by means of the computer simulation of the principle characteristics of the phase distribution under the study. The existence and uniqueness of the likelihood function’s maximum allow substantiating the possibility and the efficiency of solving the task of estimating signal’s level relative to noise level by means of the maximum likelihood technique. The elaborated method of estimating the un-noised signal’s level relative to noise, i. e. the parameter characterizing the signal’s intensity on the basis of measurements of the signal’s phase is an original and principally new technique which opens perspectives of usage of the phase measurements as a tool of the stochastic data analysis. The presented investigation is meaningful for solving the task of determining the phase and the signal’s level by means of the statistical processing of the sampled phase measurements. The proposed methods of the estimation of the phase distribution’s parameters can be used at solving various scientific and technological tasks, in particular, in such areas as radio-physics, optics, radiolocation, radio-navigation, metrology.

  6. Efficiency of production directly depends on quality of the management of technology which, in turn, relies on the accuracy and efficiency of the processing of control and measuring information. Development of the mathematical methods of research of the system communications and regularities of functioning and creation of the mathematical models taking into account structural features of object of researches, and also writing of the software products for realization of these methods are an actual task. Practice has shown that the list of parameters that take place in the study of complex object of modern production, ranging from a few dozen to several hundred names, and the degree of influence of each factor in the initial time is not clear. Before working for the direct determination of the model in these circumstances, it is impossible — the amount of the required information may be too great, and most of the work on the collection of this information will be done in vain due to the fact that the degree of influence on the optimization of most factors of the original list would be negligible. Therefore, a necessary step in determining a model of a complex object is to work to reduce the dimension of the factor space. Most industrial plants are hierarchical group processes and mass volume production, characterized by hundreds of factors. (For an example of realization of the mathematical methods and the approbation of the constructed models data of the Moldavian steel works were taken in a basis.) To investigate the systemic linkages and patterns of functioning of such complex objects are usually chosen several informative parameters, and carried out their sampling. In this article the sequence of coercion of the initial indices of the technological process of the smelting of steel to the look suitable for creation of a mathematical model for the purpose of prediction is described. The implementations of new types became also creation of a basis for development of the system of automated management of quality of the production. In the course of weak correlation the following stages are selected: collection and the analysis of the basic data, creation of the table the correlated of the parameters, abbreviation of factor space by means of the correlative pleiads and a method of weight factors. The received results allow to optimize process of creation of the model of multiple-factor process.

Resource-adaptive approach to structured text data annotation using small language models
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2026, v. 18, no. 1, pp. 41-59

This paper presents an experimental study of the application of automatic annotation of text data in the question – answer format (QA pairs) under conditions of limited computing resources and data protection requirements. Unlike traditional approaches based on rigid rules or the use of external APIs, we propose using small language models with a small number of parameters that can function locally without a GPU on standard CPU systems. Two models were selected for testing — Gemma-3-4b and Qwen-2.5-3b (quantized 4-bit versions) — and a corpus of documents with a clear structure and a formally rigorous style of presentation was used as source material. An automatic annotation system was developed that implements the full cycle of QA dataset generation: automatic division of the source document into logically connected fragments, formation of “question – answer” pairs using the Gemma-3-4b model, preliminary verification of their correctness using Qwen-2.5-3b based on evidence span from the context and expert quality assessment. The results are exported in JSONL format. Performance evaluation covers the entire QA pair generation system, including fragment processing by the local language model, text preprocessing and postprocessing modules. Performance is measured by the time it takes to generate a single QA pair, the total throughput of the system, RAM usage, and CPU load, which allows for an objective assessment of the computational efficiency of the proposed approach when running on a CPU. An experiment on an extended sample of 12 documents showed that automatic annotation demonstrates stable performance when processing different types of documents, while manual annotation is characterized by significantly higher time costs and high variability. Depending on the type of document, the acceleration of annotation compared to the manual process ranges from 8 to 14 times. Quality analysis showed that most of the generated QA pairs have high semantic consistency with the original context, with only a limited proportion of data requiring expert correction or exception. Although full manual validation of the corpus (the “gold standard”) was not performed as part of this work, the combination of automatic evaluation and selective expert review allows us to consider the resulting quality level acceptable for preliminary automated annotation tasks. Overall, the results confirm the practical applicability of small language models for building autonomous and reproducible automatic text annotation systems under limited computational resources and provide a basis for further research in the field of effective training corpus preparation for natural language processing tasks.

Signal and noise parameters’ determination at rician data analysis by method of moments of lower odd orders
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2017, v. 9, no. 5, pp. 717-728

The paper develops a new mathematical method of the joint signal and noise parameters determination at the Rice statistical distribution by method of moments based upon the analysis of data for the 1-st and the 3-rd raw moments of the random rician value. The explicit equations’ system have been obtained for required parameters of the signal and noise. In the limiting case of the small value of the signal-to-noise ratio the analytical formulas have been derived that allow calculating the required parameters without the necessity of solving the equations numerically. The technique having been elaborated in the paper ensures an efficient separation of the informative and noise components of the data to be analyzed without any a-priori restrictions, just based upon the processing of the results of the signal’s sampled measurements. The task is meaningful for the purposes of the rician data processing, in particular in the systems of magnetic-resonance visualization, in ultrasound visualization systems, at the optical signals’ analysis in range measuring systems, in radio location, etc. The results of the investigation have shown that the two parameter task solution of the proposed technique does not lead to the increase in demanded volume of computing resources compared with the one parameter task being solved in approximation that the second parameter of the task is known a-priori There are provided the results of the elaborated technique’s computer simulation. The results of the signal and noise parameters’ numerical calculation have confirmed the efficiency of the elaborated technique. There has been conducted the comparison of the accuracy of the sought-for parameters estimation by the technique having been developed in this paper and by the previously elaborated method of moments based upon processing the measured data for lower even moments of the signal to be analyzed.

Investigation the material properties of a plate by laser ultrasound using the analysis of multiple waves
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2019, v. 11, no. 4, pp. 653-673

Ultrasound examination of material properties is a precision method for determining their elastic and strength properties in connection with the small wavelength formed in the material after impact of a laser beam. In this paper, the wave processes arising during these measurements are considered in detail. It is shown that full-wave numerical modeling allows us to study in detail the types of waves, topological characteristics of their profile, speed of arrival of waves at various points, identification the types of waves whose measurements are most optimal for examining a sample made of a specific material of a particular shape, and to develop measurement procedures.

To carry out full-wave modeling, a grid-characteristic method on structured grids was used in this work and a hyperbolic system of equations that describes the propagation of elastic waves in the material of the thin plate under consideration on a specific example of a ratio of thickness to width of 1:10 was solved.

To simulate an elastic front that arose in the plate due to a laser beam, a model of the corresponding initial conditions was proposed. A comparison of the wave effects that arise during its use in the case of a point source and with the data of physical experiments on the propagation of laser ultrasound in metal plates was made.

A study was made on the basis of which the characteristic topological features of the wave processes under consideration were identified and revealed. The main types of elastic waves arising due to a laser beam are investigated, the possibility of their use for studying the properties of materials is analyzed. A method based on the analysis of multiple waves is proposed. The proposed method for studying the properties of a plate with the help of multiple waves on synthetic data was tested, and it showed good results.

It should be noted that most of the studies of multiple waves are aimed at developing methods for their suppression. Multiple waves are not used to process the results of ultrasound studies due to the complexity of their detection in the recorded data of a physical experiment.

Due to the use of full wave modeling and analysis of spatial dynamic wave processes, multiple waves are considered in detail in this work and it is proposed to divide materials into three classes, which allows using multiple waves to obtain information about the material of the plate.

The main results of the work are the developed problem statements for the numerical simulation of the study of plates of a finite thickness by laser ultrasound; the revealed features of the wave phenomena arising in plates of a finite thickness; the developed method for studying the properties of the plate on the basis of multiple waves; the developed classification of materials.

The results of the studies presented in this paper may be of interest not only for developments in the field of ultrasonic non-destructive testing, but also in the field of seismic exploration of the earth's interior, since the proposed approach can be extended to more complex cases of heterogeneous media and applied in geophysics.

Determining the characteristics of a random process by comparing them with values based on models of distribution laws
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2025, v. 17, no. 6, pp. 1105-1118

The effectiveness of communication and data transmission systems (CSiPS), which are an integral part of modern systems in almost any field of science and technology, largely depends on the stability of the frequency of the generated signals. The signals generated in the CSiPD can be considered as processes, the frequency of which changes under the influence of a combination of external influences. Changing the frequency of the signals leads to a decrease in the signal-tonoise ratio (SNR) and, consequently, a deterioration in the characteristics of the signal-to-noise ratio, such as the probability of a bit error and bandwidth. It is most convenient to consider the description of such changes in the frequency of signals as random processes, the apparatus of which is widely used in the construction of mathematical models describing the functioning of systems and devices in various fields of science and technology. Moreover, in many cases, the characteristics of a random process, such as the distribution law, mathematical expectation, and variance, may be unknown or known with errors that do not allow us to obtain estimates of the signal parameters that are acceptable in accuracy. The article proposes an algorithm for solving the problem of determining the characteristics of a random process (signal frequency) based on a set of samples of its frequency, allowing to determine the sample mean, sample variance and the distribution law of frequency deviations in the general population. The basis of this algorithm is the comparison of the values of the observed random process measured over a certain time interval with a set of the same number of random values formed on the basis of model distribution laws. Distribution laws based on mathematical models of these systems and devices or corresponding to similar systems and devices can be considered as model distribution laws. When forming a set of random values for the accepted model distribution law, the sample mean value and variance obtained from the measurement results of the observed random process are used as mathematical expectation and variance. The feature of the algorithm is to compare the measured values of the observed random process ordered in ascending or descending order and the generated sets of values in accordance with the accepted models of distribution laws. The results of mathematical modeling illustrating the application of this algorithm are presented.
