Special action and counter-terrorism models
Computer Research and Modeling, 2024, v. 16, no. 6, pp. 1467-1498Special actions (guerrilla, anti-guerrilla, reconnaissance and sabotage, subversive, counter-terrorist, counter-sabotage, etc.) are organized and conducted by law enforcement and armed forces and are aimed at protecting citizens and ensuring national security. Since the early 2000s, the problems of special actions have attracted the attention of specialists in the field of modeling, sociologists, physicists and representatives of other sciences. This article reviews and characterizes the works in the field of modeling special actions and counterterrorism. The works are classified by modeling methods (descriptive, optimization and game-theoretic), by types and stages of actions, and by phases of management (preparation and conduct of activities). The second section presents a classification of methods and models for special actions and counterterrorism, and gives a brief overview of descriptive models. The method of geographic profiling, network games, models of dynamics of special actions, the function of victory in combat and special actions (the dependence of the probability of victory on the correlation of forces and means of the parties) are considered. The third section considers the “attacker – defender” game and its extensions: the Stackelberg game and the Stackelberg security game, as well as issues of their application in security tasks In the “attacker – defender” game and security games, known works are classified on the following grounds: the sequence of moves, the number of players and their target functions, the time horizon of the game, the degree of rationality of the players and their attitude to risk, the degree of awareness of the players. The fourth section is devoted to the description of patrolling games on a graph with discrete time and simultaneous choice by the parties of their actions (Nash equilibrium is computed to find optimal strategies). The fifth section deals with game-theoretic models of transportation security as applications of Stackelberg security games. The last section is devoted to the review and characterization of a number of models of border security in two phases of management: preparation and conduct of activities. An example of effective interaction between Coast Guard units and university researchers is considered. Promising directions for further research are the following: first, modeling of counter-terrorist and special operations to neutralize terrorist and sabotage groups with the involvement of multidepartmental and heterogeneous forces and means, second, complexification of models by levels and stages of activity cycles, third, development of game-theoretic models of combating maritime terrorism and piracy.

Simulation of lightning initiation on the basis of dynamical grap
Computer Research and Modeling, 2021, v. 13, no. 1, pp. 125-147Despite numerous achievements of modern science the problem of lightning initiation in an electrodeless thundercloud, the maximum electric field strength inside which is approximately an order of magnitude lower than the dielectric strength of air, remains unsolved. Although there is no doubt that discharge activity begins with the appearance of positive streamers, which can develop under approximately half the threshold electric field as compared to negative ones, it remains unexplored how cold weakly conducting streamer systems unite in a joint hot well-conducting leader channel capable of self-propagation due to effective polarization in a relatively small external field. In this study, we present a self-organizing transport model which is applied to the case of electric discharge tree formation in a thundercloud. So, the model is aimed at numerical simulation of the initial stage of lightning discharge development. Among the innovative features of the model are the absence of grid spacing, high spatiotemporal resolution, and consideration of temporal evolution of electrical parameters of transport channels. The model takes into account the widely known asymmetry between threshold fields needed for positive and negative streamers development. In our model, the resulting well-conducting leader channel forms due to collective effect of combining the currents of tens of thousands of interacting streamer channels each of which initially has negligible conductivity and temperature that does not differ from the ambient one. The model bipolar tree is a directed graph (it has both positive and negative parts). It has morphological and electrodynamic characteristics which are intermediate between laboratory long spark and developed lightning. The model has universal character which allows to use it in other tasks related to the study of transport (in the broad sense of the word) networks.

Technology for collecting initial data for constructing models for assessing the functional state of a human by pupil's response to illumination changes in the solution of some problems of transport safety
Computer Research and Modeling, 2021, v. 13, no. 2, pp. 417-427This article solves the problem of developing a technology for collecting initial data for building models for assessing the functional state of a person. This condition is assessed by the pupil response of a person to a change in illumination based on the pupillometry method. This method involves the collection and analysis of initial data (pupillograms), presented in the form of time series characterizing the dynamics of changes in the human pupils to a light impulse effect. The drawbacks of the traditional approach to the collection of initial data using the methods of computer vision and smoothing of time series are analyzed. Attention is focused on the importance of the quality of the initial data for the construction of adequate mathematical models. The need for manual marking of the iris and pupil circles is updated to improve the accuracy and quality of the initial data. The stages of the proposed technology for collecting initial data are described. An example of the obtained pupillogram is given, which has a smooth shape and does not contain outliers, noise, anomalies and missing values. Based on the presented technology, a software and hardware complex has been developed, which is a collection of special software with two main modules, and hardware implemented on the basis of a Raspberry Pi 4 Model B microcomputer, with peripheral equipment that implements the specified functionality. To evaluate the effectiveness of the developed technology, models of a single-layer perspetron and a collective of neural networks are used, for the construction of which the initial data on the functional state of intoxication of a person were used. The studies have shown that the use of manual marking of the initial data (in comparison with automatic methods of computer vision) leads to a decrease in the number of errors of the 1st and 2nd years of the kind and, accordingly, to an increase in the accuracy of assessing the functional state of a person. Thus, the presented technology for collecting initial data can be effectively used to build adequate models for assessing the functional state of a person by pupillary response to changes in illumination. The use of such models is relevant in solving individual problems of ensuring transport security, in particular, monitoring the functional state of drivers.

A neural network model for traffic signs recognition in intelligent transport systems
Computer Research and Modeling, 2021, v. 13, no. 2, pp. 429-435This work analyzes the problem of traffic signs recognition in intelligent transport systems. The basic concepts of computer vision and image recognition tasks are considered. The most effective approach for solving the problem of analyzing and recognizing images now is the neural network method. Among all kinds of neural networks, the convolutional neural network has proven itself best. Activation functions such as Relu and SoftMax are used to solve the classification problem when recognizing traffic signs. This article proposes a technology for recognizing traffic signs. The choice of an approach for solving the problem based on a convolutional neural network due to the ability to effectively solve the problem of identifying essential features and classification. The initial data for the neural network model were prepared and a training sample was formed. The Google Colaboratory cloud service with the external libraries for deep learning TensorFlow and Keras was used as a platform for the intelligent system development. The convolutional part of the network is designed to highlight characteristic features in the image. The first layer includes 512 neurons with the Relu activation function. Then there is the Dropout layer, which is used to reduce the effect of overfitting the network. The output fully connected layer includes four neurons, which corresponds to the problem of recognizing four types of traffic signs. An intelligent traffic sign recognition system has been developed and tested. The used convolutional neural network included four stages of convolution and subsampling. Evaluation of the efficiency of the traffic sign recognition system using the three-block cross-validation method showed that the error of the neural network model is minimal, therefore, in most cases, new images will be recognized correctly. In addition, the model has no errors of the first kind, and the error of the second kind has a low value and only when the input image is very noisy.

Improving the quality of route generation in SUMO based on data from detectors using reinforcement learning
Computer Research and Modeling, 2024, v. 16, no. 1, pp. 137-146This work provides a new approach for constructing high-precision routes based on data from transport detectors inside the SUMO traffic modeling package. Existing tools such as flowrouter and routeSampler have a number of disadvantages, such as the lack of interaction with the network in the process of building routes. Our rlRouter uses multi-agent reinforcement learning (MARL), where the agents are incoming lanes and the environment is the road network. By performing actions to launch vehicles, agents receive a reward for matching data from transport detectors. Parameter Sharing DQN with the LSTM backbone of the Q-function was used as an algorithm for multi-agent reinforcement learning.
Since the rlRouter is trained inside the SUMO simulation, it can restore routes better by taking into account the interaction of vehicles within the network with each other and with the network infrastructure. We have modeled diverse traffic situations on three different junctions in order to compare the performance of SUMO’s routers with the rlRouter. We used Mean Absoluter Error (MAE) as the measure of the deviation from both cumulative detectors and routes data. The rlRouter achieved the highest compliance with the data from the detectors. We also found that by maximizing the reward for matching detectors, the resulting routes also get closer to the real ones. Despite the fact that the routes recovered using rlRouter are superior to the routes obtained using SUMO tools, they do not fully correspond to the real ones, due to the natural limitations of induction-loop detectors. To achieve more plausible routes, it is necessary to equip junctions with other types of transport counters, for example, camera detectors.

The development of an intelligent system for recognizing the volume and weight characteristics of cargo
Computer Research and Modeling, 2021, v. 13, no. 2, pp. 437-450Industrial imaging or “machine vision” is currently a key technology in many industries as it can be used to optimize various processes. The purpose of this work is to create a software and hardware complex for measuring the overall and weight characteristics of cargo based on an intelligent system using neural network identification methods that allow one to overcome the technological limitations of similar complexes implemented on ultrasonic and infrared measuring sensors. The complex to be developed will measure cargo without restrictions on the volume and weight characteristics of cargo to be tariffed and sorted within the framework of the warehouse complexes. The system will include an intelligent computer program that determines the volume and weight characteristics of cargo using the machine vision technology and an experimental sample of the stand for measuring the volume and weight of cargo.
We analyzed the solutions to similar problems. We noted that the disadvantages of the studied methods are very high requirements for the location of the camera, as well as the need for manual operations when calculating the dimensions, which cannot be automated without significant modifications. In the course of the work, we investigated various methods of object recognition in images to carry out subject filtering by the presence of cargo and measure its overall dimensions. We obtained satisfactory results when using cameras that combine both an optical method of image capture and infrared sensors. As a result of the work, we developed a computer program allowing one to capture a continuous stream from Intel RealSense video cameras with subsequent extraction of a three-dimensional object from the designated area and to calculate the overall dimensions of the object. At this stage, we analyzed computer vision techniques; developed an algorithm to implement the task of automatic measurement of goods using special cameras and the software allowing one to obtain the overall dimensions of objects in automatic mode.
Upon completion of the work, this development can be used as a ready-made solution for transport companies, logistics centers, warehouses of large industrial and commercial enterprises.

Simulation of traffic flows based on the quasi-gasdynamic approach and the cellular automata theory using supercomputers
Computer Research and Modeling, 2024, v. 16, no. 1, pp. 175-194The purpose of the study is to simulate the dynamics of traffic flows on city road networks as well as to systematize the current state of affairs in this area. The introduction states that the development of intelligent transportation systems as an integral part of modern transportation technologies is coming to the fore. The core of these systems contain adequate mathematical models that allow to simulate traffic as close to reality as possible. The necessity of using supercomputers due to the large amount of calculations is also noted, therefore, the creation of special parallel algorithms is needed. The beginning of the article is devoted to the up-to-date classification of traffic flow models and characterization of each class, including their distinctive features and relevant examples with links. Further, the main focus of the article is shifted towards the development of macroscopic and microscopic models, created by the authors, and determination of the place of these models in the aforementioned classification. The macroscopic model is based on the continuum approach and uses the ideology of quasi-gasdynamic systems of equations. Its advantages are indicated in comparison with existing models of this class. The model is presented both in one-dimensional and two-dimensional versions. The both versions feature the ability to study multi-lane traffic. In the two-dimensional version it is made possible by introduction of the concept of “lateral” velocity, i. e., the speed of changing lanes. The latter version allows for carrying out calculations in the computational domain which corresponds to the actual geometry of the road. The section also presents the test results of modeling vehicle dynamics on a road fragment with the local widening and on a road fragment with traffic lights, including several variants of traffic light regimes. In the first case, the calculations allow to draw interesting conclusions about the impact of a road widening on a road capacity as a whole, and in the second case — to select the optimal regime configuration to obtain the “green wave” effect. The microscopic model is based on the cellular automata theory and the single-lane Nagel – Schreckenberg model and is generalized for the multi-lane case by the authors of the article. The model implements various behavioral strategies of drivers. Test computations for the real transport network section in Moscow city center are presented. To achieve an adequate representation of vehicles moving through the network according to road traffic regulations the authors implemented special algorithms adapted for parallel computing. Test calculations were performed on the K-100 supercomputer installed in the Centre of Collective Usage of KIAM RAS.

Allocation of steinerpoints in euclidean Steiner tree problem by means of MatLab package

The cost of network is sum of building costs and cost of the information transportation. Euclidean Steiner tree problem in the form of topological network design is a good model of this problem.
The package MatLab has the way to solve the second part of this problem — allocate Steiner points under condition that the adjacency matrix is set. The method to get solution has been worked out. The Steiner tree is formed by means of solving of the sequence of "three points" Steiner
