Numerical approach and parallel implementation for computer simulation of stacked long Josephson Junctions
Computer Research and Modeling, 2016, v. 8, no. 4, pp. 593-604Views (last year): 7. Citations: 6 (RSCI).We consider a model of stacked long Josephson junctions (LJJ), which consists of alternating superconducting and dielectric layers. The model takes into account the inductive and capacitive coupling between the neighbor junctions. The model is described by a system of nonlinear partial differential equations with respect to the phase differences and the voltage of LJJ, with appropriate initial and boundary conditions. The numerical solution of this system of equations is based on the use of standard three-point finite-difference formulae for discrete approximations in the space coordinate, and the applying the four-step Runge-Kutta method for solving the Cauchy problem obtained. Designed parallel algorithm is implemented by means of the MPI technology (Message Passing Interface). In the paper, the mathematical formulation of the problem is given, numerical scheme and a method of calculation of the current-voltage characteristics of the LJJ system are described. Two variants of parallel implementation are presented. The influence of inductive and capacitive coupling between junctions on the structure of the current-voltage characteristics is demonstrated. The results of methodical calculations with various parameters of length and number of Josephson junctions in the LJJ stack depending on the number of parallel computing nodes, are presented. The calculations have been performed on multiprocessor clusters HybriLIT and CICC of Multi-Functional Information and Computing Complex (Laboratory of Information Technologies, Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, Dubna). The numerical results are discussed from the viewpoint of the effectiveness of presented approaches of the LJJ system numerical simulation in parallel. It has been shown that one of parallel algorithms provides the 9 times speedup of calculations.

Probabilistic aspects of “computer analogy” method for solving differential equations
Computer Research and Modeling, 2009, v. 1, no. 1, pp. 21-31Views (last year): 3. Citations: 1 (RSCI).Method which allows to obtain explicit form of the solution as a part of power series of the argument step is developed. Formalization of characteristics of the algorithm analogous to operations of a computer is performed. The operation of transfer from one rank to another leads to a probability scheme of the algorithm that averages unknown intermediate steps in higher ranks of the series. The stochastic characteristics of the method are studied and illustrated. Examples of solving nonlinear equations and systems of nonlinear differential equations are presented.

Features of numerical solutions of some problems for cnoidal waves as periodic solutions of the Korteweg – de Vries
Computer Research and Modeling, 2021, v. 13, no. 5, pp. 885-901This article discusses the features of the numerical solutions of some problems for cnoidal waves, which are periodic solutions of the classical Korteweg – de Vries equation of the traveling wave type. Exact solutions describing these waves were obtained by communicating the autowave approximation of the Korteweg – de Vries equation to ordinary functions of the third, second, and finally, first orders. Referring to a numerical example shows that in this way ordinary differential equations are not equivalent. The theorem formulated and proved in this article and the remark to it include the set of solutions of the first and second order, which, in their ordinal, are not equivalent. The ordinary differential equation of the first order obtained by the autowave approximation for the description of a cnoidal wave (a periodic solution) and a soliton (a solitary wave). Despite this, from a computational point of view, this equation is the most inconvenient. For this equation, the Lipschitz condition for the sought-for function is not satisfied in the neighborhood of constant solutions. Hence, the existence theorem and the unique solutions of the Cauchy problem for an ordinary differential equation of the first order are not valid. In particular, the uniqueness of the solution to the Cauchy problem is violated at stationary points. Therefore, for an ordinary differential equation of the first order, obtained from the Korteweg – de Vries equation, both in the case of a cnoidal wave and in the case of a soliton, the Cauchy problem cannot be posed at the extremum points. The first condition can be a set position between adjacent extremum points. But for the second, third and third orders, the initial conditions can be set at the growth points and at the extremum points. In this case, the segment for the numerical solution greatly expands and periodicity is observed. For the solutions of these ordinary solutions, the statements of the Cauchy problems are studied, and the results are compared with exact solutions and with each other. A numerical realization of the transformation of a cnoidal wave into a soliton is shown. The results of the article have a hemodynamic interpretation of the pulsating blood flow in a cylindrical blood vessel consisting of elastic rings.

Solution to a two-dimensional nonlinear heat equation using null field method
Computer Research and Modeling, 2023, v. 15, no. 6, pp. 1449-1467The paper deals with a heat wave motion problem for a degenerate second-order nonlinear parabolic equation with power nonlinearity. The considered boundary condition specifies in a plane the motion equation of the circular zero front of the heat wave. A new numerical-analytical algorithm for solving the problem is proposed. A solution is constructed stepby- step in time using difference time discretization. At each time step, a boundary value problem for the Poisson equation corresponding to the original equation at a fixed time is considered. This problem is, in fact, an inverse Cauchy problem in the domain whose initial boundary is free of boundary conditions and two boundary conditions (Neumann and Dirichlet) are specified on a current boundary (heat wave). A solution of this problem is constructed as the sum of a particular solution to the nonhomogeneous Poisson equation and a solution to the corresponding Laplace equation satisfying the boundary conditions. Since the inhomogeneity depends on the desired function and its derivatives, an iterative solution procedure is used. The particular solution is sought by the collocation method using inhomogeneity expansion in radial basis functions. The inverse Cauchy problem for the Laplace equation is solved by the null field method as applied to a circular domain with a circular hole. This method is used for the first time to solve such problem. The calculation algorithm is optimized by parallelizing the computations. The parallelization of the computations allows us to realize effectively the algorithm on high performance computing servers. The algorithm is implemented as a program, which is parallelized by using the OpenMP standard for the C++ language, suitable for calculations with parallel cycles. The effectiveness of the algorithm and the robustness of the program are tested by the comparison of the calculation results with the known exact solution as well as with the numerical solution obtained earlier by the authors with the use of the boundary element method. The implemented computational experiment shows good convergence of the iteration processes and higher calculation accuracy of the proposed new algorithm than of the previously developed one. The solution analysis allows us to select the radial basis functions which are most suitable for the proposed algorithm.

Stability investigation of finite-difference schemes of lattice Boltzmann method for diffusion modelling
Computer Research and Modeling, 2016, v. 8, no. 3, pp. 485-500Stability of finite difference schemes of lattice Boltzmann method for modelling of 1D diffusion for cases of D1Q2 and D1Q3 lattices is investigated. Finite difference schemes are constructed for the system of linear Bhatnagar–Gross–Krook (BGK) kinetic equations on single particle distribution functions. Brief review of articles of other authors is realized. With application of multiscale expansion by Chapman–Enskog method it is demonstrated that system of BGK kinetic equations at small Knudsen number is transformated to scalar linear diffusion equation. The solution of linear diffusion equation is obtained as a sum of single particle distribution functions. The method of linear travelling wave propagation is used to show the unconditional asymptotic stability of the solution of Cauchy problem for the system of BGK equations at all values of relaxation time. Stability of the scheme for D1Q2 lattice is demonstrated by the method of differential approximation. Stability condition is written in form of the inequality on values of relaxation time. The possibility of the reduction of stability analysis of the schemes for BGK equations to the analysis of special schemes for diffusion equation for the case of D1Q3 lattice is investigated. Numerical stability investigation is realized by von Neumann method. Absolute values of the eigenvalues of the transition matrix are investigated in parameter space of the schemes. It is demonstrated that in wide range of the parameters changing the values of modulas of eigenvalues are lower than unity, so the scheme is stable with respect to initial conditions.

New algorithms for composing differential equations of the motion of the exoskeleton with variable length of the links and the control of hinge-joint
Computer Research and Modeling, 2017, v. 9, no. 2, pp. 201-210Views (last year): 15. Citations: 2 (RSCI).The article discusses the model of the anthropomorphic type of mechanism of the exoskeleton with links of variable length. Four models of parts of variable length are considered comprehensively: the model link of the exoskeleton of variable length with a resilient member and a rigid strong core; the model of the telescopic link; the model link with the masses in the hinge-joint between them; the link model with an arbitrary number of masses. The differential equations of motion in the form of Lagrange equations of the second kind are made. On the basis of analysis of differential equations of motion for multi-link rod of a mechanical system type, exoskeleton revealed their structure, which allowed us to represent them in vector-matrix form. The General pattern of building matrices are established for the first time and the generalization of the expressions for elements of matrices in two-dimensional case are obtained. New recursive and matrix methods of composing of differential equations of motion are given. A unified approach to constructing differential equations of motion of the exoskeleton based on the developed recursive and matrix methods write differential equations of motion of the proposed exoskeleton. Comparison of the time of writing the differential equations of motion proposed methods, in comparison with the Lagrange equations of the second kind, in the system of computer mathematics Mathematica conducted. An analytical study of the model of the exoskeleton carried out. It was found that for mechanisms with n movable links of the Cauchy problem for systems of differential equations of motion for any initial conditions there is no single and unlimited continue. Control of the exoskeleton is accomplished using the torques which are located in the hinge-joints in the joints of the links and simulating control actions. Numerical investigation of a model of the exoskeleton is made, a comparison of results of calculations for exoskeletons with various models of units is held. A numerical study of the empirical evidence about the man and his movements is used. It is established that the choice structure of the exoskeleton model with lumped masses is more preferable to a model with perfectly rigid strong core. As an exoskeleton, providing comfortable movement of people, and you should repeat the properties of the musculoskeletal system.

On the modification of the method of component descent for solving some inverse problems of mathematical physics
Computer Research and Modeling, 2023, v. 15, no. 2, pp. 301-316The article is devoted to solving ill-posed problems of mathematical physics for elliptic and parabolic equations, such as the Cauchy problem for the Helmholtz equation and the retrospective Cauchy problem for the heat equation with constant coefficients. These problems are reduced to problems of convex optimization in Hilbert space. The gradients of the corresponding functionals are calculated approximately by solving two well-posed problems. A new method is proposed for solving the optimization problems under study, it is component-by-component descent in the basis of eigenfunctions of a self-adjoint operator associated with the problem. If it was possible to calculate the gradient exactly, this method would give an arbitrarily exact solution of the problem, depending on the number of considered elements of the basis. In real cases, the inaccuracy of calculations leads to a violation of monotonicity, which requires the use of restarts and limits the achievable quality. The paper presents the results of experiments confirming the effectiveness of the constructed method. It is determined that the new approach is superior to approaches based on the use of gradient optimization methods: it allows to achieve better quality of solution with significantly less computational resources. It is assumed that the constructed method can be generalized to other problems.

Approximate model of an axisymmetric flow of a non-compressible fluid in an infinitely long circular cylinder, the walls of which are composed of elastic rings, based on solutions of the Korteweg – de Vries equation
Computer Research and Modeling, 2024, v. 16, no. 2, pp. 375-394An approximate mathematical model of blood flow in an axisymmetric blood vessel is studied. Such a vessel is understood as an infinitely long circular cylinder, the walls of which consist of elastic rings. Blood is considered as an incompressible fluid flowing in this cylinder. Increased pressure causes radially symmetrical stretching of the elastic rings. Following J. Lamb, the rings are located close to each other so that liquid does not flow between them. To mentally realize this, it is enough to assume that the rings are covered with an impenetrable film that does not have elastic properties. Only rings have elasticity. The considered model of blood flow in a blood vessel consists of three equations: the continuity equation, the law of conservation of momentum and the equation of state. An approximate procedure for reducing the equations under consideration to the Korteweg – de Vries (KdV) equation is considered, which was not fully considered by J. Lamb, only to establish the dependence of the coefficients of the KdV equation on the physical parameters of the considered model of incompressible fluid flow in an axisymmetric vessel. From the KdV equation, by a standard transition to traveling waves, ODEs of the third, second and first orders are obtained, respectively. Depending on the different cases of arrangement of the three stationary solutions of the first-order ODE, a cnoidal wave and a soliton are standardly obtained. The main attention is paid to an unbounded periodic solution, which we call a degenerate cnoidal wave. Mathematically, cnoidal waves are described by elliptic integrals with parameters defining amplitudes and periods. Soliton and degenerate cnoidal wave are described by elementary functions. The hemodynamic meaning of these types of decisions is indicated. Due to the fact that the sets of solutions to first-, second- and third-order ODEs do not coincide, it has been established that the Cauchy problem for second- and third-order ODEs can be specified at all points, and for first-order ODEs only at points of growth or decrease. The Cauchy problem for a first-order ODE cannot be specified at extremum points due to the violation of the Lipschitz condition. The degeneration of the cnoidal wave into a degenerate cnoidal wave, which can lead to rupture of the vessel walls, is numerically illustrated. The table below describes two modes of approach of a cnoidal wave to a degenerate cnoidal wave.

Description of the rapid invasion processes by means of the kinetic model
Computer Research and Modeling, 2014, v. 6, no. 5, pp. 829-838Recently many investigations have been devoted to theoretical models in new areas concerning description of different biological, sociological and historical processes. In the present paper we investigate the nazi Germany invasion in Poland, France and USSR from the kinetic theory point of view. We model this process with the Cauchy boundary problem for the two-element kinetic equations with spatial uniform initial conditions. The solution of the problem is given in the form of the traveling wave and the propagation velocity of a frontline depends on the quotient between initial forces concentrations. Moreover it is obtained that the general solution of the model can be obtained in terms of the quadratures and elementary functions. Finally it is shown that the frontline velocities are complied with the historical data.

Development of a computational environment for mathematical modeling of superconducting nanostructures with a magnet
Computer Research and Modeling, 2023, v. 15, no. 5, pp. 1349-1358Now days the main research activity in the field of nanotechnology is aimed at the creation, study and application of new materials and new structures. Recently, much attention has been attracted by the possibility of controlling magnetic properties using a superconducting current, as well as the influence of magnetic dynamics on the current–voltage characteristics of hybrid superconductor/ferromagnet (S/F) nanostructures. In particular, such structures include the S/F/S Josephson junction or molecular nanomagnets coupled to the Josephson junctions. Theoretical studies of the dynamics of such structures need processes of a large number of coupled nonlinear equations. Numerical modeling of hybrid superconductor/magnet nanostructures implies the calculation of both magnetic dynamics and the dynamics of the superconducting phase, which strongly increases their complexity and scale, so it is advisable to use heterogeneous computing systems.
In the course of studying the physical properties of these objects, it becomes necessary to numerically solve complex systems of nonlinear differential equations, which requires significant time and computational resources.
The currently existing micromagnetic algorithms and frameworks are based on the finite difference or finite element method and are extremely useful for modeling the dynamics of magnetization on a wide time scale. However, the functionality of existing packages does not allow to fully implement the desired computation scheme.
The aim of the research is to develop a unified environment for modeling hybrid superconductor/magnet nanostructures, providing access to solvers and developed algorithms, and based on a heterogeneous computing paradigm that allows research of superconducting elements in nanoscale structures with magnets and hybrid quantum materials. In this paper, we investigate resonant phenomena in the nanomagnet system associated with the Josephson junction. Such a system has rich resonant physics. To study the possibility of magnetic reversal depending on the model parameters, it is necessary to solve numerically the Cauchy problem for a system of nonlinear equations. For numerical simulation of hybrid superconductor/magnet nanostructures, a computing environment based on the heterogeneous HybriLIT computing platform is implemented. During the calculations, all the calculation times obtained were averaged over three launches. The results obtained here are of great practical importance and provide the necessary information for evaluating the physical parameters in superconductor/magnet hybrid nanostructures.
