Dynamic regimes of the stochastic “prey – predatory” model with competition and saturation
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2019, v. 11, no. 3, pp. 515-531

We consider “predator – prey” model taking into account the competition of prey, predator for different from the prey resources, and their interaction described by the second type Holling trophic function. An analysis of the attractors is carried out depending on the coefficient of competition of predators. In the deterministic case, this model demonstrates the complex behavior associated with the local (Andronov –Hopf and saddlenode) and global (birth of a cycle from a separatrix loop) bifurcations. An important feature of this model is the disappearance of a stable cycle due to a saddle-node bifurcation. As a result of the presence of competition in both populations, parametric zones of mono- and bistability are observed. In parametric zones of bistability the system has either coexisting two equilibria or a cycle and equilibrium. Here, we investigate the geometrical arrangement of attractors and separatrices, which is the boundary of basins of attraction. Such a study is an important component in understanding of stochastic phenomena. In this model, the combination of the nonlinearity and random perturbations leads to the appearance of new phenomena with no analogues in the deterministic case, such as noise-induced transitions through the separatrix, stochastic excitability, and generation of mixed-mode oscillations. For the parametric study of these phenomena, we use the stochastic sensitivity function technique and the confidence domain method. In the bistability zones, we study the deformations of the equilibrium or oscillation regimes under stochastic perturbation. The geometric criterion for the occurrence of such qualitative changes is the intersection of confidence domains and the separatrix of the deterministic model. In the zone of monostability, we evolve the phenomena of explosive change in the size of population as well as extinction of one or both populations with minor changes in external conditions. With the help of the confidence domains method, we solve the problem of estimating the proximity of a stochastic population to dangerous boundaries, upon reaching which the coexistence of populations is destroyed and their extinction is observed.

    Game-theoretic and reflexive combat models
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2022, v. 14, no. 1, pp. 179-203

Modeling combat operations is an urgent scientific and practical task aimed at providing commanders and staffs with quantitative grounds for making decisions. The authors proposed the function of victory in combat and military operations, based on the function of the conflict by G. Tullock and taking into account the scale of combat (military) operations. On a sufficient volume of military statistics, the scale parameter was assessed and its values were found for the tactical, operational and strategic levels. The game-theoretic models «offensive – defense», in which the sides solve the immediate and subsequent tasks, having the formation of troops in one or several echelons, have been investigated. At the first stage of modeling, the solution of the immediate task is found — the breakthrough (holding) of defense points, at the second — the solution of the subsequent task — the defeat of the enemy in the depth of the defense (counterattack and restoration of defense). For the tactical level, using the Nash equilibrium, solutions were found for the closest problem (distribution of the forces of the sides by points of defense) in an antagonistic game according to three criteria: a) breakthrough of the weakest point, b) breakthrough of at least one point, and c) weighted average probability. It is shown that it is advisable for the attacking side to use the criterion of «breaking through at least one point», in which, all other things being equal, the maximum probability of breaking through the points of defense is ensured. At the second stage of modeling for a particular case (the sides are guided by the criterion of breaking through the weakest point when breaking through and holding defense points), the problem of distributing forces and facilities between tactical tasks (echelons) was solved according to two criteria: a) maximizing the probability of breaking through the defense point and the probability of defeating the enemy in depth defense, b) maximizing the minimum value of the named probabilities (the criterion of the guaranteed result). Awareness is an important aspect of combat operations. Several examples of reflexive games (games characterized by complex mutual awareness) and information management are considered. It is shown under what conditions information control increases the player’s payoff, and the optimal information control is found.

Development of and research into a rigid algorithm for analyzing Twitter publications and its influence on the movements of the cryptocurrency market
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2023, v. 15, no. 1, pp. 157-170

Social media is a crucial indicator of the position of assets in the financial market. The paper describes the rigid solution for the classification problem to determine the influence of social media activity on financial market movements. Reputable crypto traders influencers are selected. Twitter posts packages are used as data. The methods of text, which are characterized by the numerous use of slang words and abbreviations, and preprocessing consist in lemmatization of Stanza and the use of regular expressions. A word is considered as an element of a vector of a data unit in the course of solving the problem of binary classification. The best markup parameters for processing Binance candles are searched for. Methods of feature selection, which is necessary for a precise description of text data and the subsequent process of establishing dependence, are represented by machine learning and statistical analysis. First, the feature selection is used based on the information criterion. This approach is implemented in a random forest model and is relevant for the task of feature selection for splitting nodes in a decision tree. The second one is based on the rigid compilation of a binary vector during a rough check of the presence or absence of a word in the package and counting the sum of the elements of this vector. Then a decision is made depending on the superiority of this sum over the threshold value that is predetermined previously by analyzing the frequency distribution of mentions of the word. The algorithm used to solve the problem was named benchmark and analyzed as a tool. Similar algorithms are often used in automated trading strategies. In the course of the study, observations of the influence of frequently occurring words, which are used as a basis of dimension 2 and 3 in vectorization, are described as well.

Optimization of the brain command dictionary based on the statistical proximity criterion in silent speech recognition task
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2023, v. 15, no. 3, pp. 675-690

In our research, we focus on the problem of classification for silent speech recognition to develop a brain– computer interface (BCI) based on electroencephalographic (EEG) data, which will be capable of assisting people with mental and physical disabilities and expanding human capabilities in everyday life. Our previous research has shown that the silent pronouncing of some words results in almost identical distributions of electroencephalographic signal data. Such a phenomenon has a suppressive impact on the quality of neural network model behavior. This paper proposes a data processing technique that distinguishes between statistically remote and inseparable classes in the dataset. Applying the proposed approach helps us reach the goal of maximizing the semantic load of the dictionary used in BCI.

Furthermore, we propose the existence of a statistical predictive criterion for the accuracy of binary classification of the words in a dictionary. Such a criterion aims to estimate the lower and the upper bounds of classifiers’ behavior only by measuring quantitative statistical properties of the data (in particular, using the Kolmogorov – Smirnov method). We show that higher levels of classification accuracy can be achieved by means of applying the proposed predictive criterion, making it possible to form an optimized dictionary in terms of semantic load for the EEG-based BCIs. Furthermore, using such a dictionary as a training dataset for classification problems grants the statistical remoteness of the classes by taking into account the semantic and phonetic properties of the corresponding words and improves the classification behavior of silent speech recognition models.

The application of genetic algorithms for organizational systems’ management in case of emergency
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2019, v. 11, no. 3, pp. 533-556

Optimal management of fuel supply system boils down to choosing an energy development strategy which provides consumers with the most efficient and reliable fuel and energy supply. As a part of the program on switching the heat supply distributed management system of the Udmurt Republic to renewable energy sources, an “Information-analytical system of regional alternative fuel supply management” was developed. The paper presents the mathematical model of optimal management of fuel supply logistic system consisting of three interconnected levels: raw material accumulation points, fuel preparation points and fuel consumption points, which are heat sources. In order to increase effective the performance of regional fuel supply system a modification of information-analytical system and extension of its set of functions using the methods of quick responding when emergency occurs are required. Emergencies which occur on any one of these levels demand the management of the whole system to reconfigure. The paper demonstrates models and algorithms of optimal management in case of emergency involving break down of such production links of logistic system as raw material accumulation points and fuel preparation points. In mathematical models, the target criterion is minimization of costs associated with the functioning of logistic system in case of emergency. The implementation of the developed algorithms is based on the usage of genetic optimization algorithms, which made it possible to obtain a more accurate solution in less time. The developed models and algorithms are integrated into the information-analytical system that enables to provide effective management of alternative fuel supply of the Udmurt Republic in case of emergency.

Analogues of the relative strong convexity condition for relatively smooth problems and adaptive gradient-type methods
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2023, v. 15, no. 2, pp. 413-432

This paper is devoted to some variants of improving the convergence rate guarantees of the gradient-type algorithms for relatively smooth and relatively Lipschitz-continuous problems in the case of additional information about some analogues of the strong convexity of the objective function. We consider two classes of problems, namely, convex problems with a relative functional growth condition, and problems (generally, non-convex) with an analogue of the Polyak – Lojasiewicz gradient dominance condition with respect to Bregman divergence. For the first type of problems, we propose two restart schemes for the gradient type methods and justify theoretical estimates of the convergence of two algorithms with adaptively chosen parameters corresponding to the relative smoothness or Lipschitz property of the objective function. The first of these algorithms is simpler in terms of the stopping criterion from the iteration, but for this algorithm, the near-optimal computational guarantees are justified only on the class of relatively Lipschitz-continuous problems. The restart procedure of another algorithm, in its turn, allowed us to obtain more universal theoretical results. We proved a near-optimal estimate of the complexity on the class of convex relatively Lipschitz continuous problems with a functional growth condition. We also obtained linear convergence rate guarantees on the class of relatively smooth problems with a functional growth condition. For a class of problems with an analogue of the gradient dominance condition with respect to the Bregman divergence, estimates of the quality of the output solution were obtained using adaptively selected parameters. We also present the results of some computational experiments illustrating the performance of the methods for the second approach at the conclusion of the paper. As examples, we considered a linear inverse Poisson problem (minimizing the Kullback – Leibler divergence), its regularized version which allows guaranteeing a relative strong convexity of the objective function, as well as an example of a relatively smooth and relatively strongly convex problem. In particular, calculations show that a relatively strongly convex function may not satisfy the relative variant of the gradient dominance condition.

Mathematical methods for stabilizing the structure of social systems under external disturbances
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2021, v. 13, no. 4, pp. 845-857

The article considers a bilinear model of the influence of external disturbances on the stability of the structure of social systems. Approaches to the third-party stabilization of the initial system consisting of two groups are investigated — by reducing the initial system to a linear system with uncertain parameters and using the results of the theory of linear dynamic games with a quadratic criterion. The influence of the coefficients of the proposed model of the social system and the control parameters on the quality of the system stabilization is analyzed with the help of computer experiments. It is shown that the use of a minimax strategy by a third party in the form of feedback control leads to a relatively close convergence of the population of the second group (excited by external influences) to an acceptable level, even with unfavorable periodic dynamic perturbations.

The influence of one of the key coefficients in the criterion $(\varepsilon)$ used to compensate for the effects of external disturbances (the latter are present in the linear model in the form of uncertainty) on the quality of system stabilization is investigated. Using Z-transform, it is shown that a decrease in the coefficient $\varepsilon$ should lead to an increase in the values of the sum of the squares of the control. The computer calculations carried out in the article also show that the improvement of the convergence of the system structure to the equilibrium level with a decrease in this coefficient is achieved due to sharp changes in control in the initial period, which may induce the transition of some members of the quiet group to the second, excited group.

The article also examines the influence of the values of the model coefficients that characterize the level of social tension on the quality of management. Calculations show that an increase in the level of social tension (all other things being equal) leads to the need for a significant increase in the third party's stabilizing efforts, as well as the value of control at the transition period.

The results of the statistical modeling carried out in the article show that the calculated feedback controls successfully compensate for random disturbances on the social system (both in the form of «white» noise, and of autocorrelated disturbances).

Multi regime model and numerical algorithm for calculations on various types quasi crack developing under cyclic loading
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2022, v. 14, no. 4, pp. 873-885

A new method for calculating the initiation and development of narrow local damage zones in specimens and structural elements subjected to various modes cyclic loadings is proposed based on multi regime two criteria model of fatigue fracture. Such narrow zones of damage can be considered as quasi-cracks of two different types, corresponding to the mechanism of normal crack opening and shear.

Numerical simulations that are aimed to reproduce the left and right branches of the full fatigue curves for specimens made from titanium and aluminum alloy and to verify the model. These branches were constructed based on tests results obtained under various modes and cyclic loading schemes. Examples of modeling the development of quasi-cracks for two types (normal opening and shear) under different cyclic loading modes for a plate with a hole as a stress concentrator are given. Under a complex stress state in the proposed multi regime model, a natural implementation of any considered mechanisms for the quasi-cracks development is possible. Quasi-cracks of different types can develop in different parts of the specimen, including simultaneously.

Semantic structuring of text documents based on patterns of natural language entities
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2022, v. 14, no. 5, pp. 1185-1197

The technology of creating patterns from natural language words (concepts) based on text data in the bag of words model is considered. Patterns are used to reduce the dimension of the original space in the description of documents and search for semantically related words by topic. The process of dimensionality reduction is implemented through the formation of patterns of latent features. The variety of structures of document relations is investigated in order to divide them into themes in the latent space.

It is considered that a given set of documents (objects) is divided into two non-overlapping classes, for the analysis of which it is necessary to use a common dictionary. The belonging of words to a common vocabulary is initially unknown. Class objects are considered as opposition to each other. Quantitative parameters of oppositionality are determined through the values of the stability of each feature and generalized assessments of objects according to non-overlapping sets of features.

To calculate the stability, the feature values are divided into non-intersecting intervals, the optimal boundaries of which are determined by a special criterion. The maximum stability is achieved under the condition that the boundaries of each interval contain values of one of the two classes.

The composition of features in sets (patterns of words) is formed from a sequence ordered by stability values. The process of formation of patterns and latent features based on them is implemented according to the rules of hierarchical agglomerative grouping.

A set of latent features is used for cluster analysis of documents using metric grouping algorithms. The analysis applies the coefficient of content authenticity based on the data on the belonging of documents to classes. The coefficient is a numerical characteristic of the dominance of class representatives in groups.

To divide documents into topics, it is proposed to use the union of groups in relation to their centers. As patterns for each topic, a sequence of words ordered by frequency of occurrence from a common dictionary is considered.

The results of a computational experiment on collections of abstracts of scientific dissertations are presented. Sequences of words from the general dictionary on 4 topics are formed.

Models for spatial selection during location-aware beamforming in ultra-dense millimeter wave radio access networks
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2024, v. 16, no. 1, pp. 195-216

The work solves the problem of establishing the dependence of the potential for spatial selection of useful and interfering signals according to the signal-to-interference ratio criterion on the positioning error of user equipment during beamforming by their location at a base station, equipped with an antenna array. Configurable simulation parameters include planar antenna array with a different number of antenna elements, movement trajectory, as well as the accuracy of user equipment location estimation using root mean square error of coordinate estimates. The model implements three algorithms for controlling the shape of the antenna radiation pattern: 1) controlling the beam direction for one maximum and one zero; 2) controlling the shape and width of the main beam; 3) adaptive beamforming. The simulation results showed, that the first algorithm is most effective, when the number of antenna array elements is no more than 5 and the positioning error is no more than 7 m, and the second algorithm is appropriate to employ, when the number of antenna array elements is more than 15 and the positioning error is more than 5 m. Adaptive beamforming is implemented using a training signal and provides optimal spatial selection of useful and interfering signals without device location data, but is characterized by high complexity of hardware implementation. Scripts of the developed models are available for verification. The results obtained can be used in the development of scientifically based recommendations for beam control in ultra-dense millimeter-wave radio access networks of the fifth and subsequent generations.
