Forecasting demographic and macroeconomic indicators in a distributed global model
Computer Research and Modeling, 2023, v. 15, no. 3, pp. 757-779The paper present a dynamic macro model of world dynamics. The world is divided into 19 geographic regions in the model. The internal development of the regions is described by regression equations for demographic and economic indicators (Population, Gross Domestic Product, Gross Capital Formation). The bilateral trade flows from region to region describes interregional interactions and represented the trade submodel. Time, the gross product of the exporter and the gross product of the importer were used as regressors. Four types were considered: time pair regression — dependence of trade flow on time, export function — dependence of the share of trade flow in the gross product of the exporter on the gross product of the importer, import function — dependence of the share of trade flow in the gross product of the importer on the gross product of the exporter, multiple regression — dependence of trade flow on the gross products of the exporter and importer. Two types of functional dependence were used for each type: linear and log-linear, in total eight variants of the trading equation were studied. The quality of regression models is compared by the coefficient of determination. By calculations the model satisfactorily approximates the dynamics of monotonically changing indicators. The dynamics of non-monotonic trade flows is analyzed, three types of functional dependence on time are proposed for their approximation. It is shown that the number of foreign trade series can be approximated by the space of seven main components with a 10% error. The forecast of regional development and global dynamics up to 2040 is constructed.

Application of the friendship index and disparity filter for the analysis of bibliometric journal networks
Computer Research and Modeling, 2026, v. 18, no. 2, pp. 519-535The traditional approach to studying inter-journal communication involves analyzing journal citation graphs. This paper proposes a method for analyzing journal networks using a new type of bibliometric graph — a journal intersection graph based on the binary operation of set intersection — employing techniques grounded in the friendship index and the disparity function. The approach is demonstrated using a relatively small example of a real journal network, with data sourced from the All-Russian portal Math-Net.Ru information system: 63 journals from 2008–2021 meeting specific criteria, containing almost 69 thousand articles authored by 54 thousand individuals. The mathematical model of this real-world network is represented as an intersection graph using the Jaccard coefficient, which exhibits specific properties: low dimensionality, high graph density, and an edge weight distribution that is not approximated by a power law function. The obtained results include the network structure of connections within the studied set of journals, accounting for their degree of interaction, and the identification of significant vertices using the friendship index. This captures the graph’s structural properties, offers an obvious substantive interpretation, and allows for ranking journals by this metric. Thus, the method implements a tool for distinguishing between vertices that are leaders in terms of the friendship index and “network integrators” (based on closeness/betweenness centrality). It also demonstrates a qualitative change in structural properties when reducing graph density while maintaining connectivity, achieved by applying the disparity function. The sequential application of the disparity function while lowering the significance threshold allows for the identification of the graph’s core, containing the most strongly connected vertices. This, in turn, enables the determination of a set of vertices (and corresponding journals) that are simultaneously part of the core and have the highest significance according to the friendship index. An analysis of the levels of this resulting journal set within the “Belyi Spisok” (“White List”) shows these journals have a high rating. The findings provide a deeper understanding of the relationship structure within scientific journal networks and define new approaches for their study.

Statistical methods for detecting anomalies in examination results at the institutional level
Computer Research and Modeling, 2026, v. 18, no. 2, pp. 537-552This study proposes a methodology for anomaly detection in educational assessment data, demonstrated on the case of the 2023–2024 Basic State Exam (BSE) in mathematics in Russia. The relevance of the study is related to the absence of mandatory video surveillance during the examination period, which creates a risk of potential rule violations both by individual students and by entire educational institutions. By analyzing the distribution of primary scores, we identify a big spike in the area between grades 2 and 3 as a specific pattern in results that may indicate cases of cheating during the exam. To determine the most suspicious results, two anomaly criteria were constructed. The first criterion relies on comparing the magnitude of the spike in empirical distribution function in school’s results with the corresponding regional average level. This criterion made it possible to identify 47 educational institutions with abnormally high values of the spike. The second (general) criterion was derived from comparing students’ scores on the examination with their performance on a diagnostic mathematics test conducted in grade 8 under video surveillance. This comparison is appropriate because almost the same group of students took part in both assessments. This approach helps reduce the number of detected anomalies by distinguishing those more likely to reflect actual protocol violations from those arising due to the specific characteristics of a particular student population and their exam preparation within a given educational institution. The application of the oneclass support vector machine method enabled the identification of 12 schools with atypical anomalous results. The proposed methodology could be useful for the detection of potential cases of cheating during exams and the development of methods for preventing such behavior. In particular, it can be used to support targeted preventive work with specific schools in order to reduce the risk of exam rule violations.

Exact calculation of a posteriori probability distribution with distributed computing systems
Computer Research and Modeling, 2015, v. 7, no. 3, pp. 539-542Views (last year): 3.We'd like to present a specific grid infrastructure and web application development and deployment. The purpose of infrastructure and web application is to solve particular geophysical problems that require heavy computational resources. Here we cover technology overview and connector framework internals. The connector framework links problem-specific routines with middleware in a manner that developer of application doesn't have to be aware of any particular grid software. That is, the web application built with this framework acts as an interface between the user 's web browser and Grid's (often very) own middleware.
Our distributed computing system is built around Gridway metascheduler. The metascheduler is connected to TORQUE resource managers of virtual compute nodes that are being run atop of compute cluster utilizing the virtualization technology. Such approach offers several notable features that are unavailable to bare-metal compute clusters.
The first application we've integrated with our framework is seismic anisotropic parameters determination by inversion of SKS and converted phases. We've used probabilistic approach to inverse problem solution based on a posteriory probability distribution function (APDF) formalism. To get the exact solution of the problem we have to compute the values of multidimensional function. Within our implementation we used brute-force APDF calculation on rectangular grid across parameter space.
The result of computation is stored in relational DBMS and then represented in familiar human-readable form. Application provides several instruments to allow analysis of function's shape by computational results: maximum value distribution, 2D cross-sections of APDF, 2D marginals and a few other tools. During the tests we've run the application against both synthetic and observed data.

Using CERN cloud technologies for the further ATLAS TDAQ software development and for its application for the remote sensing data processing in the space monitoring tasks
Computer Research and Modeling, 2015, v. 7, no. 3, pp. 683-689Views (last year): 2.The CERN cloud technologies (the CernVM project) give a new possibility for the software developers. The participation of the JINR ATLAS TDAQ working group in the software development for distributed data acquisition and processing system (TDAQ) of the ATLAS experiment (CERN) involves the work in the condition of the dynamically developing system and its infrastructure. The CERN cloud technologies, especially CernVM, provide the most effective access as to the TDAQ software as to the third-part software used in ATLAS. The access to the Scientific Linux environment is provided by CernVM virtual machines and the access software repository — by CernVM-FS. The problem of the functioning of the TDAQ middleware in the CernVM environment was studied in this work. The CernVM usage is illustrated on three examples: the development of the packages Event Dump and Webemon, and the adaptation of the data quality auto checking system of the ATLAS TDAQ (Data Quality Monitoring Framework) for the radar data assessment.
