Simulation of the gas condensate reservoir depletion
Computer Research and Modeling, 2020, v. 12, no. 5, pp. 1081-1095One of problems in developing the gas condensate fields lies on the fact that the condensed hydrocarbons in the gas-bearing layer can get stuck in the pores of the formation and hence cannot be extracted. In this regard, research is underway to increase the recoverability of hydrocarbons in such fields. This research includes a wide range of studies on mathematical simulations of the passage of gas condensate mixtures through a porous medium under various conditions.
In the present work, within the classical approach based on the Darcy law and the law of continuity of flows, we formulate an initial-boundary value problem for a system of nonlinear differential equations that describes a depletion of a multicomponent gas-condensate mixture in porous reservoir. A computational scheme is developed on the basis of the finite-difference approximation and the fourth order Runge .Kutta method. The scheme can be used for simulations both in the spatially one-dimensional case, corresponding to the conditions of the laboratory experiment, and in the two-dimensional case, when it comes to modeling a flat gas-bearing formation with circular symmetry.
The computer implementation is based on the combination of C++ and Maple tools, using the MPI parallel programming technique to speed up the calculations. The calculations were performed on the HybriLIT cluster of the Multifunctional Information and Computing Complex of the Laboratory of Information Technologies of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research.
Numerical results are compared with the experimental data on the pressure dependence of output of a ninecomponent hydrocarbon mixture obtained at a laboratory facility (VNIIGAZ, Ukhta). The calculations were performed for two types of porous filler in the laboratory model of the formation: terrigenous filler at 25 .„R and carbonate one at 60 .„R. It is shown that the approach developed ensures an agreement of the numerical results with experimental data. By fitting of numerical results to experimental data on the depletion of the laboratory reservoir, we obtained the values of the parameters that determine the inter-phase transition coefficient for the simulated system. Using the same parameters, a computer simulation of the depletion of a thin gas-bearing layer in the circular symmetry approximation was carried out.

Game-theoretic and reflexive combat models
Computer Research and Modeling, 2022, v. 14, no. 1, pp. 179-203Modeling combat operations is an urgent scientific and practical task aimed at providing commanders and staffs with quantitative grounds for making decisions. The authors proposed the function of victory in combat and military operations, based on the function of the conflict by G. Tullock and taking into account the scale of combat (military) operations. On a sufficient volume of military statistics, the scale parameter was assessed and its values were found for the tactical, operational and strategic levels. The game-theoretic models «offensive – defense», in which the sides solve the immediate and subsequent tasks, having the formation of troops in one or several echelons, have been investigated. At the first stage of modeling, the solution of the immediate task is found — the breakthrough (holding) of defense points, at the second — the solution of the subsequent task — the defeat of the enemy in the depth of the defense (counterattack and restoration of defense). For the tactical level, using the Nash equilibrium, solutions were found for the closest problem (distribution of the forces of the sides by points of defense) in an antagonistic game according to three criteria: a) breakthrough of the weakest point, b) breakthrough of at least one point, and c) weighted average probability. It is shown that it is advisable for the attacking side to use the criterion of «breaking through at least one point», in which, all other things being equal, the maximum probability of breaking through the points of defense is ensured. At the second stage of modeling for a particular case (the sides are guided by the criterion of breaking through the weakest point when breaking through and holding defense points), the problem of distributing forces and facilities between tactical tasks (echelons) was solved according to two criteria: a) maximizing the probability of breaking through the defense point and the probability of defeating the enemy in depth defense, b) maximizing the minimum value of the named probabilities (the criterion of the guaranteed result). Awareness is an important aspect of combat operations. Several examples of reflexive games (games characterized by complex mutual awareness) and information management are considered. It is shown under what conditions information control increases the player’s payoff, and the optimal information control is found.

Development of and research into a rigid algorithm for analyzing Twitter publications and its influence on the movements of the cryptocurrency market
Computer Research and Modeling, 2023, v. 15, no. 1, pp. 157-170Social media is a crucial indicator of the position of assets in the financial market. The paper describes the rigid solution for the classification problem to determine the influence of social media activity on financial market movements. Reputable crypto traders influencers are selected. Twitter posts packages are used as data. The methods of text, which are characterized by the numerous use of slang words and abbreviations, and preprocessing consist in lemmatization of Stanza and the use of regular expressions. A word is considered as an element of a vector of a data unit in the course of solving the problem of binary classification. The best markup parameters for processing Binance candles are searched for. Methods of feature selection, which is necessary for a precise description of text data and the subsequent process of establishing dependence, are represented by machine learning and statistical analysis. First, the feature selection is used based on the information criterion. This approach is implemented in a random forest model and is relevant for the task of feature selection for splitting nodes in a decision tree. The second one is based on the rigid compilation of a binary vector during a rough check of the presence or absence of a word in the package and counting the sum of the elements of this vector. Then a decision is made depending on the superiority of this sum over the threshold value that is predetermined previously by analyzing the frequency distribution of mentions of the word. The algorithm used to solve the problem was named benchmark and analyzed as a tool. Similar algorithms are often used in automated trading strategies. In the course of the study, observations of the influence of frequently occurring words, which are used as a basis of dimension 2 and 3 in vectorization, are described as well.

Subgradient methods for weakly convex and relatively weakly convex problems with a sharp minimum
Computer Research and Modeling, 2023, v. 15, no. 2, pp. 393-412The work is devoted to the study of subgradient methods with different variations of the Polyak stepsize for minimization functions from the class of weakly convex and relatively weakly convex functions that have the corresponding analogue of a sharp minimum. It turns out that, under certain assumptions about the starting point, such an approach can make it possible to justify the convergence of the subgradient method with the speed of a geometric progression. For the subgradient method with the Polyak stepsize, a refined estimate for the rate of convergence is proved for minimization problems for weakly convex functions with a sharp minimum. The feature of this estimate is an additional consideration of the decrease of the distance from the current point of the method to the set of solutions with the increase in the number of iterations. The results of numerical experiments for the phase reconstruction problem (which is weakly convex and has a sharp minimum) are presented, demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed approach to estimating the rate of convergence compared to the known one. Next, we propose a variation of the subgradient method with switching over productive and non-productive steps for weakly convex problems with inequality constraints and obtain the corresponding analog of the result on convergence with the rate of geometric progression. For the subgradient method with the corresponding variation of the Polyak stepsize on the class of relatively Lipschitz and relatively weakly convex functions with a relative analogue of a sharp minimum, it was obtained conditions that guarantee the convergence of such a subgradient method at the rate of a geometric progression. Finally, a theoretical result is obtained that describes the influence of the error of the information about the (sub)gradient available by the subgradient method and the objective function on the estimation of the quality of the obtained approximate solution. It is proved that for a sufficiently small error $\delta > 0$, one can guarantee that the accuracy of the solution is comparable to $\delta$.

Analysis of the rate of electron transport through photosynthetic cytochrome $b_6 f$ complex
Computer Research and Modeling, 2024, v. 16, no. 4, pp. 997-1022We consider an approach based on linear algebra methods to analyze the rate of electron transport through the cytochrome $b_6 f$ complex. In the proposed approach, the dependence of the quasi-stationary electron flux through the complex on the degree of reduction of pools of mobile electron carriers is considered a response function characterizing this process. We have developed software in the Python programming language that allows us to construct the master equation for the complex according to the scheme of elementary reactions and calculate quasi-stationary electron transport rates through the complex and the dynamics of their changes during the transition process. The calculations are performed in multithreaded mode, which makes it possible to efficiently use the resources of modern computing systems and to obtain data on the functioning of the complex in a wide range of parameters in a relatively short time. The proposed approach can be easily adapted for the analysis of electron transport in other components of the photosynthetic and respiratory electron-transport chain, as well as other processes in multienzyme complexes containing several reaction centers. Cryo-electron microscopy and redox titration data were used to parameterize the model of cytochrome $b_6 f$ complex. We obtained dependences of the quasi-stationary rate of plastocyanin reduction and plastoquinone oxidation on the degree of reduction of pools of mobile electron carriers and analyzed the dynamics of rate changes in response to changes in the redox state of the plastoquinone pool. The modeling results are in good agreement with the available experimental data.

Reinforcement learning-based adaptive traffic signal control invariant to traffic signal configuration
Computer Research and Modeling, 2024, v. 16, no. 5, pp. 1253-1269In this paper, we propose an adaptive traffic signal control method invariant to the configuration of the traffic signal. The proposed method uses one neural network model to control traffic signals of various configurations, differing both in the number of controlled lanes and in the used traffic light control cycle (set of phases). To describe the state space, both dynamic information about the current state of the traffic flow and static data about the configuration of a controlled intersection are used. To increase the speed of model training and reduce the required amount of data required for model convergence, it is proposed to use an “expert” who provides additional data for model training. As an expert, we propose to use an adaptive control method based on maximizing the weighted flow of vehicles through an intersection. Experimental studies of the effectiveness of the developed method were carried out in a microscopic simulation software package. The obtained results confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed method in different simulation scenarios. The possibility of using the developed method in a simulation scenario that is not used in the training process was shown. We provide a comparison of the proposed method with other baseline solutions, including the method used as an “expert”. In most scenarios, the developed method showed the best results by average travel time and average waiting time criteria. The advantage over the method used as an expert, depending on the scenario under study, ranged from 2% to 12% according to the criterion of average vehicle waiting time and from 1% to 7% according to the criterion of average travel time.

Analysis of socio-informational influence through the examples of US wars in Korea, Vietnam, and Iraq
Computer Research and Modeling, 2014, v. 6, no. 1, pp. 167-184Views (last year): 2. Citations: 3 (RSCI).In the first section of the paper a definition of presentation (perception) functions — components of individual’s subjective view of the world — are proposed. Using the basic psychophysical law formulated by S. Stevens, and relying on the hypotheses of socialization, rationality, individual choice, complexity of informational influences, dynamics of ideas and perceptions, and accessibility, formal dependence was derived allowing to calculate the function of presentation (perception) for probabilistic indicators (with known distribution function or subjective probability) and of interval type. In the second and third sections parameters of the presentation function according to surveys of the U.S. population related to the war in Korea, Vietnam, and Iraq are estimated.
