Computer Research and Modeling, 2014, v. 6, no. 4, pp. 523-534Views (last year): 4. Citations: 7 (RSCI).The problem of application of miscroscopic traffic models for the analysis of large network segments is discussed with an example of discrete flow with safe distance. A concept of integral charasteristics of network segments is introduced, a method for obtaining such characteristics via microscopic traffic flow models is presented. Said method is applied to a circular unidirectional interchange, obtained characteristics analysed.

Modeling of thermal desorption and hydrogen permeability
Computer Research and Modeling, 2014, v. 6, no. 5, pp. 679-703Views (last year): 3.In the context of problems of hydrogen and thermonuclear power engineering intensive research of the hydrogen isotopes properties is being conducted. Mathematical models help to specify physical-chemical ideas about the interaction of hydrogen isotopes with structural materials, to discover the limiting factors. Classical diffusion models are often insufficient. The paper is devoted to the models and numerical solution of the boundary-value problems of hydrogen thermodesorption and permeability taking into account nonlinear sorption-desorption dynamics on the surface and reversible capture of hydrogen atoms in the bulk. Algorithms based on difference approximations. The results of computer simulation of the hydrogen flux from a structural material sample are presented.

Discrete-element simulation of a spherical projectile penetration into a massive obstacle
Computer Research and Modeling, 2015, v. 7, no. 1, pp. 71-79Views (last year): 5. Citations: 5 (RSCI).А discrete element model is applied to the problem of a spherical projectile penetration into a massive obstacle. According to the model both indenter and obstacle are described by a set of densely packed particles. To model the interaction between the particles the two-parameter Lennard–Jones potential is used. Computer implementation of the model has been carried out using parallelism on GPUs, which resulted in high spatial — temporal resolution. Based on the comparison of the results of numerical simulation with experimental data the binding energy has been identified as a function of the dynamic hardness of materials. It is shown that the use of this approach allows to accurately describe the penetration process in the range of projectile velocities 500–2500 m/c.

Simulation of properties of composite materials reinforced by carbon nanotubes using perceptron complexes
Computer Research and Modeling, 2015, v. 7, no. 2, pp. 253-262Views (last year): 2. Citations: 1 (RSCI).Use of algorithms based on neural networks can be inefficient for small amounts of experimental data. Authors consider a solution of this problem in the context of modelling of properties of ceramic composite materials reinforced with carbon nanotubes using perceptron complex. This approach allowed us to obtain a mathematical description of the object of study with a minimal amount of input data (the amount of necessary experimental samples decreased 2–3.3 times). Authors considered different versions of perceptron complex structures. They found that the most appropriate structure has perceptron complex with breakthrough of two input variables. The relative error was only 6%. The selected perceptron complex was shown to be effective for predicting the properties of ceramic composites. The relative errors for output components were 0.3%, 4.2%, 0.4%, 2.9%, and 11.8%.

On an analytic-numerical method to simulate heat transfer process on $p$-dimensional complex geometry domains
Computer Research and Modeling, 2015, v. 7, no. 4, pp. 865-873Views (last year): 1.The article presents an analytical-numerical method to simulate $p$-dimentional heat transfer processes on complex geometry domains when conventional methods are not applicable. The model is converted by the proposed method so that conventional numerical analysis methods is applied to the numerical research. The results of numerical experiments are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. The obtained results, other authors’ numerical results and exact analytical solutions, known for a class of problems, is compared.

Improvement of image quality in a computer tomography by means of integral transformation of a special kind
Computer Research and Modeling, 2015, v. 7, no. 5, pp. 1033-1046Views (last year): 6.The question on improvement of quality of images obtained in a tomography problem is considered. The problem consists in finding of boundaries of inhomogeneities (inclusions) in a continuous medium by results of X-ray radiography of this medium. A nonlinear integral transformation of a special kind is proposed which allows to improve quality of images obtained earlier at a set of papers. The method is realized numerically by the use of computer modelling. Some calculations are carried out with use of data for concrete materials. The results obtained are presented by drawings and graphic images.

Development, calibration and verification of mathematical model for multilane urban road traffic flow. Part II
Computer Research and Modeling, 2015, v. 7, no. 6, pp. 1205-1219Views (last year): 3.The goal of this work is to generalize second order mathematical models for automotive flow using algorithm for building state equation — the dependency of pressure on traffic density — which is adequate with regard to real world data. The form of state equation, which closes the system of model equations, is obtained from experimental form of fundamental diagram — the dependency of traffic flow intensity on its density, and completely defines all properties of any phenomenological model. The proposed approach was verified using numerical experiments on typical traffic data, obtained from PeMS system (http://pems.dot.ca.gov/), using segment of I-507 highway in California, USA as model system.

Marks of stochastic determinacy of forest ecosystem autogenous succession in Markov models
Computer Research and Modeling, 2016, v. 8, no. 2, pp. 255-265Views (last year): 2. Citations: 2 (RSCI).This article describes a method to model the course of forest ecosystem succession to the climax state by means of a Markov chain. In contrast to traditional methods of forest succession modelling based on changes of vegetation types, several variants of the vertical structure of communities formed by late-successional tree species are taken as the transition states of the model. Durations of succession courses from any stage are not set in absolute time units, but calculated as the average number of steps before reaching the climax in a unified time scale. The regularities of succession courses are revealed in the proper time of forest ecosystems shaping. The evidences are obtained that internal features of the spatial and population structure do stochastically determine the course and the pace of forest succession. The property of developing vegetation of forest communities is defined as an attribute of stochastic determinism in the course of autogenous succession.

Stability investigation of finite-difference schemes of lattice Boltzmann method for diffusion modelling
Computer Research and Modeling, 2016, v. 8, no. 3, pp. 485-500Stability of finite difference schemes of lattice Boltzmann method for modelling of 1D diffusion for cases of D1Q2 and D1Q3 lattices is investigated. Finite difference schemes are constructed for the system of linear Bhatnagar–Gross–Krook (BGK) kinetic equations on single particle distribution functions. Brief review of articles of other authors is realized. With application of multiscale expansion by Chapman–Enskog method it is demonstrated that system of BGK kinetic equations at small Knudsen number is transformated to scalar linear diffusion equation. The solution of linear diffusion equation is obtained as a sum of single particle distribution functions. The method of linear travelling wave propagation is used to show the unconditional asymptotic stability of the solution of Cauchy problem for the system of BGK equations at all values of relaxation time. Stability of the scheme for D1Q2 lattice is demonstrated by the method of differential approximation. Stability condition is written in form of the inequality on values of relaxation time. The possibility of the reduction of stability analysis of the schemes for BGK equations to the analysis of special schemes for diffusion equation for the case of D1Q3 lattice is investigated. Numerical stability investigation is realized by von Neumann method. Absolute values of the eigenvalues of the transition matrix are investigated in parameter space of the schemes. It is demonstrated that in wide range of the parameters changing the values of modulas of eigenvalues are lower than unity, so the scheme is stable with respect to initial conditions.
