Localized waves of the $\varphi^4$ equation in models with two extended impurities
Computer Research and Modeling, 2025, v. 17, no. 3, pp. 437-449In this paper, we consider the interaction of a kink of the $\varphi^4$ equation with two identical extended impurities. An extended impurity is described using a rectangular function. The case of an attractive impurity is analyzed. Using analytical methods, we consider the case of small amplitudes of localized waves, when it is possible to linearize the equations of motion. For the numerical solution, the method of lines for partial differential equations was used. To find the oscillation frequencies of waves localized on impurities, the discrete Fourier transform is used. The kink was launched in the direction of the impurities with different initial velocities. The distance between the two impurities was also varied. It is shown that when a kink interacts with impurities, long-lived localized breather-type waves are excited on them. Their structure and coupled dynamics are investigated. It is determined how, by changing the parameters of the impurities and the distance between them, it is possible to control the type and dynamic parameters of the coupled oscillations of the waves localized on the impurities. Possible solutions in the form of in-phase, antiphase oscillations, in the form of beats are found. The oscillations of localized waves occur with the emission of small-amplitude waves. The spectrum of these emissions consists of two frequencies. The first is approximately equal to $\sqrt{2}$, which corresponds to the frequency value for the wobbling breather tail of the $\varphi^4$ equation. The second is approximately equal to the doubled frequency of impurity mode oscillations. The presence of two possible frequencies for coupled localized oscillations is found both analytically and numerically. It is shown that the frequencies strongly depend on the distance between impurities. With increasing distance between impurities, the frequencies merge into one — frequency obtained for the case of a single impurity. The dependences of the frequencies on the distance between impurities found numerically and analytically coincide well for large distances, when the interaction between impurities is weak, and begin to differ noticeably at small distances, when the interaction between impurities is strong. The analytical value of the obtained frequencies is always greater than the numerical ones. It is shown that the dependence of the amplitude of localized waves on the initial kink velocity has several minima and maxima.

Modeling of nonlinear aeroelastic oscillations of a channel wall interacting with a pulsating viscous gas layer
Computer Research and Modeling, 2025, v. 17, no. 4, pp. 583-600The mathematical model for aeroelastic oscillations of a narrow channel wall with a nonlinear-elastic suspension and interacting with a pulsating viscous gas layer is proposed. Within the framework of this model, the aeroelastic response of the channel wall and its phase response were determined and investigated. The authors simultaneously studied the influence of the nonlinear stiffness elastic suspension of the wall, compressibility and dissipative properties of gas, as well as the inertia of its motion on the wall oscillations. The model was elaborated based on the formulation and solution of the initial boundary-value plane problem of mathematical physics. The problem governing equations include the equations of dynamics for barotropic viscous gas, equation of dynamics for the rigid wall as the spring-mass nonlinear oscillator. Using the perturbation method, the asymptotic analysis of the problem was carried out. The solution of the equations of dynamics for the thin layer of viscous gas was obtained by the iteration method. As a result, the law of gas pressure distribution in the channel was determined and the initial problem of aeroelasticity was reduced to the study of the generalized Duffing equation. Its solution was realized by the harmonic balance method, which allowed us to determine the aeroelastic and phase responses of the channel wall in the form of implicit functions. The numerical study of these responses was carried out to evaluate the influence for inertia of gas motion and its compressibility, as well as a comparison of the results obtained with the special cases of creeping motion of viscous gas and incompressible viscous fluid. The results of this study have shown the importance of simultaneous consideration of compressibility and inertia of viscous gas motion when modeling aeroelastic oscillations of the considered channel wall.

Modeling of the gas suspension expansion with a large pressure-density ratio
Computer Research and Modeling, 2026, v. 18, no. 4, pp. 809-821Modeling of gas-particle suspensions with large pressure and density gradients is of practical interest in the study of volcanic phenomena, explosions at different altitudes, as well as in technogenic problems related to the operation of space technology and the formation of space debris. This work presents numerical and analytical investigations of the expansion of gas suspensions with a high ratio (up to six orders of magnitude) of pressures and densities. For numerical modeling, a high-resolution hybrid large-particle method was employed. Under the conditions considered, the accuracy of the method was confirmed by comparison with asymptotically exact solutions. The study examined the wave and structural characteristics of concentrated gas suspension expansion depending on particle volume fraction, particle size, and initial pressure ratio. It was found that the polytropic index and sound speed in the gas suspension depend not only on temperature but also on pressure and particle concentration. With increasing pressure, both the polytropic index and sound speed rise, while with increasing particle volume fraction they decrease. In the case of an arbitrary discontinuity decay, an unusual effect is observed compared with “pure” gas dynamics: the relative velocity of the mixture in the uniform flow region decreases as the initial pressure increases. This is explained by the nonlinear dependence of the sound speed in a gas-dispersed mixture on pressure. With increasing particle size (Stokes number), the mixture flow splits into gaseous and dispersed components. At the initial moment, the contact discontinuity separating the mixture from the rarefied gas region splits into two contact boundaries: gaseous and dispersed. A practical conclusion is that when the particle size changes by two orders of magnitude, the gas-dynamic parameters of the mixture in the rarefaction wave region and up to the medium interface remain close to each other. During spatial expansion, the initial cylindrical shape of the dispersed medium successively transforms into a cross-section resembling a hexagon. At the next stage of expansion, the particles redistribute to form a bilateral conical structure. Eventually, a dispersed formation close to a spherical shape emerges.

Citations: 7 (RSCI).The purpose of this paper is to generalize the macroscopic hydrodynamic vehicular traffic models by using the algorithm for constructing the adequate state equation — dependence the pressure from traffic density by taking into account the real experimental data (possibly using the parametric solutions for model equations). It is proved that this kind of state equation which closed model equations system and obtained from the experimentally observed form of the fundamental diagram — dependence the traffic intensity from its density, completely determines the all properties of the used phenomenological model.

Computer Research and Modeling, 2013, v. 5, no. 4, pp. 573-582Views (last year): 4. Citations: 2 (RSCI).We consider two versions of the maximum cross section method for the solutions of the stationary equation of radiative transfer in dimensional inhomogeneous medium. Both are based on the application Monte-Carlo method to the summation of the Neumann series for the solution transport equation. First modification is traditional and second is based on the use of branching Markov chains. We carried out numerical comparison of these algorithms.

The development of fracture mathematical models for numerical solution of exploration seismology problems with use of grid-characteristic method
Computer Research and Modeling, 2016, v. 8, no. 6, pp. 911-925Views (last year): 9.The article contains the description of developed mathematical models of fractures which can be used for numerical solution of exploration seismology problems with use of grid-characteristic method on unstructured triangular and tetrahedral meshes. The base of developed models is the concept of infinitely thin fracture. This fracture is represented by contact boundary. Such approach significantly reduces the consumption of computer resources by the absence of the mesh definition inside of fracture necessity. By the other side it lets state the fracture discretely in integration domain, therefore one can observe qualitative new effects which are not available to observe by use of effective models of fractures, actively used in computational seismic.
The main target in the development of models have been getting the most accurate result. Developed models thet can receive the response close to the actual response of the existing fracture in geological environment. We considered fluid-filled fractures, glued and partially glued fractures, and also fractures with dynamical friction force. Fracture behavior determinated by the nature of condition on the border.
Empty fracture was represented as free boundary condition. This condition give us opportunity for total reflection of wave fronts from fracture. Fluid-filling provided the condition for sliding on the border. Under this condition, there was a passage of longitudinal and total reflection of converted waves. For the real fractures, which has unequal distance between the borders has been proposed the model of partially glued fracture. At different points of the fracture's boundary were sat different conditions. Almost the same effect is achieved by using a fracture model of dynamic friction condition. But its disadvantage is the inabillity to specify the proportion of fracture's glued area due to the friction factor can take values from zero to infinity. The model of partially glued fracture is devoid of this disadvantage.

Algorithms of through calculation for damage processes
Computer Research and Modeling, 2018, v. 10, no. 5, pp. 645-666Views (last year): 24.The paper reviews the existing approaches to calculating the destruction of solids. The main attention is paid to algorithms using a unified approach to the calculation of deformation both for nondestructive and for the destroyed states of the material. The thermodynamic derivation of the unified rheological relationships taking into account the elastic, viscous and plastic properties of materials and describing the loss of the deformation resistance ability with the accumulation of microdamages is presented. It is shown that the mathematical model under consideration provides a continuous dependence of the solution on input parameters (parameters of the material medium, initial and boundary conditions, discretization parameters) with softening of the material.
Explicit and implicit non-matrix algorithms for calculating the evolution of deformation and fracture development are presented. Non-explicit schemes are implemented using iterations of the conjugate gradient method, with the calculation of each iteration exactly coinciding with the calculation of the time step for two-layer explicit schemes. So, the solution algorithms are very simple.
The results of solving typical problems of destruction of solid deformable bodies for slow (quasistatic) and fast (dynamic) deformation processes are presented. Based on the experience of calculations, recommendations are given for modeling the processes of destruction and ensuring the reliability of numerical solutions.
