Neural network model of human intoxication functional state determining in some problems of transport safety solution
Computer Research and Modeling, 2018, v. 10, no. 3, pp. 285-293Views (last year): 42. Citations: 2 (RSCI).This article solves the problem of vehicles drivers intoxication functional statedetermining. Its solution is relevant in the transport security field during pre-trip medical examination. The problem solution is based on the papillomometry method application, which allows to evaluate the driver state by his pupillary reaction to illumination change. The problem is to determine the state of driver inebriation by the analysis of the papillogram parameters values — a time series characterizing the change in pupil dimensions upon exposure to a short-time light pulse. For the papillograms analysis it is proposed to use a neural network. A neural network model for determining the drivers intoxication functional state is developed. For its training, specially prepared data samples are used which are the values of the following parameters of pupillary reactions grouped into two classes of functional states of drivers: initial diameter, minimum diameter, half-constriction diameter, final diameter, narrowing amplitude, rate of constriction, expansion rate, latent reaction time, the contraction time, the expansion time, the half-contraction time, and the half-expansion time. An example of the initial data is given. Based on their analysis, a neural network model is constructed in the form of a single-layer perceptron consisting of twelve input neurons, twenty-five neurons of the hidden layer, and one output neuron. To increase the model adequacy using the method of ROC analysis, the optimal cut-off point for the classes of solutions at the output of the neural network is determined. A scheme for determining the drivers intoxication state is proposed, which includes the following steps: pupillary reaction video registration, papillogram construction, parameters values calculation, data analysis on the base of the neural network model, driver’s condition classification as “norm” or “rejection of the norm”, making decisions on the person being audited. A medical worker conducting driver examination is presented with a neural network assessment of his intoxication state. On the basis of this assessment, an opinion on the admission or removal of the driver from driving the vehicle is drawn. Thus, the neural network model solves the problem of increasing the efficiency of pre-trip medical examination by increasing the reliability of the decisions made.

Numerical solution to a two-dimensional nonlinear heat equation using radial basis functions
Computer Research and Modeling, 2022, v. 14, no. 1, pp. 9-22The paper presents a numerical solution to the heat wave motion problem for a degenerate second-order nonlinear parabolic equation with a source term. The nonlinearity is conditioned by the power dependence of the heat conduction coefficient on temperature. The problem for the case of two spatial variables is considered with the boundary condition specifying the heat wave motion law. A new solution algorithm based on an expansion in radial basis functions and the boundary element method is proposed. The solution is constructed stepwise in time with finite difference time approximation. At each time step, a boundary value problem for the Poisson equation corresponding to the original equation at a fixed time is solved. The solution to this problem is constructed iteratively as the sum of a particular solution to the nonhomogeneous equation and a solution to the corresponding homogeneous equation satisfying the boundary conditions. The homogeneous equation is solved by the boundary element method. The particular solution is sought by the collocation method using inhomogeneity expansion in radial basis functions. The calculation algorithm is optimized by parallelizing the computations. The algorithm is implemented as a program written in the C++ language. The parallel computations are organized by using the OpenCL standard, and this allows one to run the same parallel code either on multi-core CPUs or on graphic CPUs. Test cases are solved to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed solution method and the correctness of the developed computational technique. The calculation results are compared with known exact solutions, as well as with the results we obtained earlier. The accuracy of the solutions and the calculation time are estimated. The effectiveness of using various systems of radial basis functions to solve the problems under study is analyzed. The most suitable system of functions is selected. The implemented complex computational experiment shows higher calculation accuracy of the proposed new algorithm than that of the previously developed one.

Procedure for constructing of explicit, implicit and symmetric simplectic schemes for numerical solving of Hamiltonian systems of equations
Computer Research and Modeling, 2016, v. 8, no. 6, pp. 861-871Views (last year): 11.Equations of motion in Newtonian and Hamiltonian forms are used for classical molecular dynamics simulation of particle system time evolution. When Newton equations of motion are used for finding of particle coordinates and velocities in $N$-particle system it takes to solve $3N$ ordinary differential equations of second order at every time step. Traditionally numerical schemes of Verlet method are used for solving Newtonian equations of motion of molecular dynamics. A step of integration is necessary to decrease for Verlet numerical schemes steadiness conservation on sufficiently large time intervals. It leads to a significant increase of the volume of calculations. Numerical schemes of Verlet method with Hamiltonian conservation control (the energy of the system) at every time moment are used in the most software packages of molecular dynamics for numerical integration of equations of motion. It can be used two complement each other approaches to decrease of computational time in molecular dynamics calculations. The first of these approaches is based on enhancement and software optimization of existing software packages of molecular dynamics by using of vectorization, parallelization and special processor construction. The second one is based on the elaboration of efficient methods for numerical integration for equations of motion. A procedure for constructing of explicit, implicit and symmetric symplectic numerical schemes with given approximation accuracy in relation to integration step for solving of molecular dynamic equations of motion in Hamiltonian form is proposed in this work. The approach for construction of proposed in this work procedure is based on the following points: Hamiltonian formulation of equations of motion; usage of Taylor expansion of exact solution; usage of generating functions, for geometrical properties of exact solution conservation, in derivation of numerical schemes. Numerical experiments show that obtained in this work symmetric symplectic third-order accuracy scheme conserves basic properties of the exact solution in the approximate solution. It is more stable for approximation step and conserves Hamiltonian of the system with more accuracy at a large integration interval then second order Verlet numerical schemes.

Finite difference schemes for linear advection equation solving under generalized approximation condition
Computer Research and Modeling, 2018, v. 10, no. 2, pp. 181-193Views (last year): 27.A set of implicit difference schemes on the five-pointwise stensil is under construction. The analysis of properties of difference schemes is carried out in a space of undetermined coefficients. The spaces were introduced for the first time by A. S. Kholodov. Usually for properties of difference schemes investigation the problem of the linear programming was constructed. The coefficient at the main term of a discrepancy was considered as the target function. The optimization task with inequalities type restrictions was considered for construction of the monotonic difference schemes. The limitation of such an approach becomes clear taking into account that approximation of the difference scheme is defined only on the classical (smooth) solutions of partial differential equations.
The functional which minimum will be found put in compliance to the difference scheme. The functional must be the linear on the difference schemes coefficients. It is possible that the functional depends on net function – the solution of a difference task or a grid projection of the differential problem solution. If the initial terms of the functional expansion in a Taylor series on grid parameters are equal to conditions of classical approximation, we will call that the functional will be the generalized condition of approximation. It is shown that such functionals exist. For the simple linear partial differential equation with constant coefficients construction of the functional is possible also for the generalized (non-smooth) solution of a differential problem.
Families of functionals both for smooth solutions of an initial differential problem and for the generalized solution are constructed. The new difference schemes based on the analysis of the functionals by linear programming methods are constructed. At the same time the research of couple of self-dual problems of the linear programming is used. The optimum monotonic difference scheme possessing the first order of approximation on the smooth solution of differential problem is found. The possibility of application of the new schemes for creation of hybrid difference methods of the raised approximation order on smooth solutions is discussed.
The example of numerical implementation of the simplest difference scheme with the generalized approximation is given.

Physical research, numerical and analytical modeling of explosion phenomena. A review
Computer Research and Modeling, 2020, v. 12, no. 3, pp. 505-546The review considers a wide range of phenomena and problems associated with the explosion. Detailed numerical studies revealed an interesting physical effect — the formation of discrete vortex structures directly behind the front of a shock wave propagating in dense layers of a heterogeneous atmosphere. The necessity of further investigation of such phenomena and the determination of the degree of their connection with the possible development of gas-dynamic instability is shown. The brief analysis of numerous works on the thermal explosion of meteoroids during their high-speed movement in the Earth’s atmosphere is given. Much attention is paid to the development of a numerical algorithm for calculating the simultaneous explosion of several fragments of meteoroids and the features of the development of such a gas-dynamic flow are analyzed. The work shows that earlier developed algorithms for calculating explosions can be successfully used to study explosive volcanic eruptions. The paper presents and discusses the results of such studies for both continental and underwater volcanoes with certain restrictions on the conditions of volcanic activity.
The mathematical analysis is performed and the results of analytical studies of a number of important physical phenomena characteristic of explosions of high specific energy in the ionosphere are presented. It is shown that the preliminary laboratory physical modeling of the main processes that determine these phenomena is of fundamental importance for the development of sufficiently complete and adequate theoretical and numerical models of such complex phenomena as powerful plasma disturbances in the ionosphere. Laser plasma is the closest object for such a simulation. The results of the corresponding theoretical and experimental studies are presented and their scientific and practical significance is shown. The brief review of recent years on the use of laser radiation for laboratory physical modeling of the effects of a nuclear explosion on asteroid materials is given.
As a result of the analysis performed in the review, it was possible to separate and preliminarily formulate some interesting and scientifically significant questions that must be investigated on the basis of the ideas already obtained. These are finely dispersed chemically active systems formed during the release of volcanoes; small-scale vortex structures; generation of spontaneous magnetic fields due to the development of instabilities and their role in the transformation of plasma energy during its expansion in the ionosphere. It is also important to study a possible laboratory physical simulation of the thermal explosion of bodies under the influence of highspeed plasma flow, which has only theoretical interpretations.

Solution to a two-dimensional nonlinear heat equation using null field method
Computer Research and Modeling, 2023, v. 15, no. 6, pp. 1449-1467The paper deals with a heat wave motion problem for a degenerate second-order nonlinear parabolic equation with power nonlinearity. The considered boundary condition specifies in a plane the motion equation of the circular zero front of the heat wave. A new numerical-analytical algorithm for solving the problem is proposed. A solution is constructed stepby- step in time using difference time discretization. At each time step, a boundary value problem for the Poisson equation corresponding to the original equation at a fixed time is considered. This problem is, in fact, an inverse Cauchy problem in the domain whose initial boundary is free of boundary conditions and two boundary conditions (Neumann and Dirichlet) are specified on a current boundary (heat wave). A solution of this problem is constructed as the sum of a particular solution to the nonhomogeneous Poisson equation and a solution to the corresponding Laplace equation satisfying the boundary conditions. Since the inhomogeneity depends on the desired function and its derivatives, an iterative solution procedure is used. The particular solution is sought by the collocation method using inhomogeneity expansion in radial basis functions. The inverse Cauchy problem for the Laplace equation is solved by the null field method as applied to a circular domain with a circular hole. This method is used for the first time to solve such problem. The calculation algorithm is optimized by parallelizing the computations. The parallelization of the computations allows us to realize effectively the algorithm on high performance computing servers. The algorithm is implemented as a program, which is parallelized by using the OpenMP standard for the C++ language, suitable for calculations with parallel cycles. The effectiveness of the algorithm and the robustness of the program are tested by the comparison of the calculation results with the known exact solution as well as with the numerical solution obtained earlier by the authors with the use of the boundary element method. The implemented computational experiment shows good convergence of the iteration processes and higher calculation accuracy of the proposed new algorithm than of the previously developed one. The solution analysis allows us to select the radial basis functions which are most suitable for the proposed algorithm.

Stability investigation of finite-difference schemes of lattice Boltzmann method for diffusion modelling
Computer Research and Modeling, 2016, v. 8, no. 3, pp. 485-500Stability of finite difference schemes of lattice Boltzmann method for modelling of 1D diffusion for cases of D1Q2 and D1Q3 lattices is investigated. Finite difference schemes are constructed for the system of linear Bhatnagar–Gross–Krook (BGK) kinetic equations on single particle distribution functions. Brief review of articles of other authors is realized. With application of multiscale expansion by Chapman–Enskog method it is demonstrated that system of BGK kinetic equations at small Knudsen number is transformated to scalar linear diffusion equation. The solution of linear diffusion equation is obtained as a sum of single particle distribution functions. The method of linear travelling wave propagation is used to show the unconditional asymptotic stability of the solution of Cauchy problem for the system of BGK equations at all values of relaxation time. Stability of the scheme for D1Q2 lattice is demonstrated by the method of differential approximation. Stability condition is written in form of the inequality on values of relaxation time. The possibility of the reduction of stability analysis of the schemes for BGK equations to the analysis of special schemes for diffusion equation for the case of D1Q3 lattice is investigated. Numerical stability investigation is realized by von Neumann method. Absolute values of the eigenvalues of the transition matrix are investigated in parameter space of the schemes. It is demonstrated that in wide range of the parameters changing the values of modulas of eigenvalues are lower than unity, so the scheme is stable with respect to initial conditions.

Kinetic equations for modelling of diffusion processes by lattice Boltzmann method
Computer Research and Modeling, 2017, v. 9, no. 6, pp. 919-936Views (last year): 25.The system of linear hyperbolic kinetic equations with the relaxation term of Bhatnagar–Gross–Krook type for modelling of linear diffusion processes by the lattice Boltzmann method is considered. The coefficients of the equations depend on the discrete velocities from the pattern in velocity space. The system may be considered as an alternative mathematical model of the linear diffusion process. The cases of widely-used patterns on speed variables are considered. The case of parametric coefficients takes into account. By application of the method of Chapman–Enskog asymptotic expansion it is obtained, that the system may be reduced to the linear diffusion equation. The expression of the diffusion coefficient is obtained. As a result of the analysis of this expression, the existence of numerical diffusion in solutions obtained by application of lattice Boltzmann equations is demonstrated. Stability analysis is based on the investigation of wave modes defined by the solutions of hyperbolic system. In the cases of some one-dimensional patterns stability analysis may be realized analytically. In other cases the algorithm of numerical stability investigation is proposed. As a result of the numerical investigation stability of the solutions is shown for a wide range of input parameters. The sufficiency of the positivity of the relaxation parameter for the stability of solutions is demonstrated. The dispersion of the solutions, which is not realized for a linear diffusion equation, is demonstrated analytically and numerically for a wide range of the parameters. But the dispersive wave modes can be damped as an asymptotically stable solutions and the behavior of the solution is similar to the solution of linear diffusion equation. Numerical schemes, obtained from the proposed systems by various discretization techniques may be considered as a tool for computer modelling of diffusion processes, or as a solver for stationary problems and in applications of the splitting lattice Boltzmann method. Obtained results may be used for the comparison of the theoretical properties of the difference schemes of the lattice Boltzmann method for modelling of linear diffusion.

Modeling the physical processes of a powerful nuclear explosion on an asteroid
Computer Research and Modeling, 2019, v. 11, no. 5, pp. 861-877As part of the paper, a physical and theoretical analysis of the impact processes of various factors of a highaltitude and high-energy nuclear explosion on the asteroid in extra-atmospheric conditions of open space is done. It is shown that, in accordance with the energy and permeability of the plasma of explosion products, X-ray and gamma-neutron radiation, a layered structure with a different energy density depending on angular coordinates is formed on the surface of the asteroid. The temporal patterns of the energy transformation for each layer is clarified and the roles of various photo- and collision processes are determined. The effect of a high-speed plasma flow is erosive in nature, and the plasma pulse is transmitted to the asteroid. The paper presents that in a thin layer of x-ray absorption, the asteroid substance is heated to high temperatures and as a result of its expansion, a recoil impulse is formed, which is not decisive due to the small mass of the expanding high-temperature plasma. Calculations shows that the main impulse received by an asteroid is associated with the entrainment of a heated layer of a substance formed by a neutron flux (7.5 E 1014 g E cm/s). It is shown that an asteroid with a radius of ~100 m acquires a velocity of . 100 cm/s. The calculations were performed taking into account the explosion energy spent on the destruction of the amorphous structure of the asteroid material (~1 eV/atom = 3.8 E 1010 erg/g) and ionization in the region of the high-temperature layer. Based on a similar analysis, an approximation is obtained for estimating the average size of fragments in the event of the possible destruction of the asteroid by shock waves generated inside it under the influence of pressure impulses. A physical experiment was conducted in laboratory conditions, simulating the fragmentation of a stone asteroid and confirming the validity of the obtained dependence on the selected values of certain parameters. As a result of numerical studies of the effects of the explosion, carried out at different distances from the surface of the asteroid, it is shown that taking into account the real geometry of the spallation layer gives the optimal height for the formation of the maximum asteroid momentum by a factor of 1.5 greater than similar estimates according to the simplified model. A two-stage concept of the impact of nuclear explosions on an asteroid using radar guidance tools is proposed. The paper analyzes the possible impact of the emerging ionization interference on the radar tracking of the movement of large fragments of the asteroid in the space-time evolution of all elements of the studied dynamic system.

Modeling of the gas suspension expansion with a large pressure-density ratio
Computer Research and Modeling, 2026, v. 18, no. 4, pp. 809-821Modeling of gas-particle suspensions with large pressure and density gradients is of practical interest in the study of volcanic phenomena, explosions at different altitudes, as well as in technogenic problems related to the operation of space technology and the formation of space debris. This work presents numerical and analytical investigations of the expansion of gas suspensions with a high ratio (up to six orders of magnitude) of pressures and densities. For numerical modeling, a high-resolution hybrid large-particle method was employed. Under the conditions considered, the accuracy of the method was confirmed by comparison with asymptotically exact solutions. The study examined the wave and structural characteristics of concentrated gas suspension expansion depending on particle volume fraction, particle size, and initial pressure ratio. It was found that the polytropic index and sound speed in the gas suspension depend not only on temperature but also on pressure and particle concentration. With increasing pressure, both the polytropic index and sound speed rise, while with increasing particle volume fraction they decrease. In the case of an arbitrary discontinuity decay, an unusual effect is observed compared with “pure” gas dynamics: the relative velocity of the mixture in the uniform flow region decreases as the initial pressure increases. This is explained by the nonlinear dependence of the sound speed in a gas-dispersed mixture on pressure. With increasing particle size (Stokes number), the mixture flow splits into gaseous and dispersed components. At the initial moment, the contact discontinuity separating the mixture from the rarefied gas region splits into two contact boundaries: gaseous and dispersed. A practical conclusion is that when the particle size changes by two orders of magnitude, the gas-dynamic parameters of the mixture in the rarefaction wave region and up to the medium interface remain close to each other. During spatial expansion, the initial cylindrical shape of the dispersed medium successively transforms into a cross-section resembling a hexagon. At the next stage of expansion, the particles redistribute to form a bilateral conical structure. Eventually, a dispersed formation close to a spherical shape emerges.
