Method of estimation of heart failure during a physical exercise
Computer Research and Modeling, 2017, v. 9, no. 2, pp. 311-321Views (last year): 8. Citations: 1 (RSCI).The results of determination of the risk of cardiovascular failure of young athletes and adolescents in stressful physical activity have been demonstrated. The method of screening diagnostics of the risk of developing heart failure has been described. The results of contactless measurement of the form of the pulse wave of the radial artery using semiconductor laser autodyne have been presented. In the measurements used laser diode type RLD-650 specifications: output power of 5 mW, emission wavelength 654 nm. The problem was solved by the reduced form of the reflector movement, which acts as the surface of the skin of the human artery, tested method of assessing the risk of cardiovascular disease during exercise and the analysis of the results of its application to assess the risk of cardiovascular failure reactions of young athletes. As analyzed parameters were selected the following indicators: the steepness of the rise in the systolic portion of the fast and slow phase, the rate of change in the pulse wave catacrota variability of cardio intervals as determined by the time intervals between the peaks of the pulse wave. It analyzed pulse wave form on its first and second derivative with respect to time. The zeros of the first derivative of the pulse wave allow to set aside time in systolic rise. A minimum of the second derivative corresponds to the end of the phase and the beginning of the slow pressure build-up in the systole. Using the first and second derivative of the pulse wave made it possible to separately analyze the pulse wave form phase of rapid and slow pressure increase phase during systolic expansion. It has been established that the presence of anomalies in the form of the pulse wave in combination with vagotonic nervous regulation of the cardiovascular system of a patient is a sign of danger collapse of circulation during physical exercise.

Estimation of models parameters for time series with Markov switching regimes
Computer Research and Modeling, 2018, v. 10, no. 6, pp. 903-918Views (last year): 36.The paper considers the problem of estimating the parameters of time series described by regression models with Markov switching of two regimes at random instants of time with independent Gaussian noise. For the solution, we propose a variant of the EM algorithm based on the iterative procedure, during which an estimation of the regression parameters is performed for a given sequence of regime switching and an evaluation of the switching sequence for the given parameters of the regression models. In contrast to the well-known methods of estimating regression parameters in the models with Markov switching, which are based on the calculation of a posteriori probabilities of discrete states of the switching sequence, in the paper the estimates are calculated of the switching sequence, which are optimal by the criterion of the maximum of a posteriori probability. As a result, the proposed algorithm turns out to be simpler and requires less calculations. Computer modeling allows to reveal the factors influencing accuracy of estimation. Such factors include the number of observations, the number of unknown regression parameters, the degree of their difference in different modes of operation, and the signal-to-noise ratio which is associated with the coefficient of determination in regression models. The proposed algorithm is applied to the problem of estimating parameters in regression models for the rate of daily return of the RTS index, depending on the returns of the S&P 500 index and Gazprom shares for the period from 2013 to 2018. Comparison of the estimates of the parameters found using the proposed algorithm is carried out with the estimates that are formed using the EViews econometric package and with estimates of the ordinary least squares method without taking into account regimes switching. The account of regimes switching allows to receive more exact representation about structure of a statistical dependence of investigated variables. In switching models, the increase in the signal-to-noise ratio leads to the fact that the differences in the estimates produced by the proposed algorithm and using the EViews program are reduced.

Extension of Strongin’s Global Optimization Algorithm to a Function Continuous on a Compact Interval
Computer Research and Modeling, 2019, v. 11, no. 6, pp. 1111-1119The Lipschitz continuous property has been used for a long time to solve the global optimization problem and continues to be used. Here we can mention the work of Piyavskii, Yevtushenko, Strongin, Shubert, Sergeyev, Kvasov and others. Most papers assume a priori knowledge of the Lipschitz constant, but the derivation of this constant is a separate problem. Further still, we must prove that an objective function is really Lipschitz, and it is a complicated problem too. In the case where the Lipschitz continuity is established, Strongin proposed an algorithm for global optimization of a satisfying Lipschitz condition on a compact interval function without any a priori knowledge of the Lipschitz estimate. The algorithm not only finds a global extremum, but it determines the Lipschitz estimate too. It is known that every function that satisfies the Lipchitz condition on a compact convex set is uniformly continuous, but the reverse is not always true. However, there exist models (Arutyunova, Dulliev, Zabotin) whose study requires a minimization of the continuous but definitely not Lipschitz function. One of the algorithms for solving such a problem was proposed by R. J. Vanderbei. In his work he introduced some generalization of the Lipchitz property named $\varepsilon$-Lipchitz and proved that a function defined on a compact convex set is uniformly continuous if and only if it satisfies the $\varepsilon$-Lipchitz condition. The above-mentioned property allowed him to extend Piyavskii’s method. However, Vanderbei assumed that for a given value of $\varepsilon$ it is possible to obtain an associate Lipschitz $\varepsilon$-constant, which is a very difficult problem. Thus, there is a need to construct, for a function continuous on a compact convex domain, a global optimization algorithm which works in some way like Strongin’s algorithm, i.e., without any a priori knowledge of the Lipschitz $\varepsilon$-constant. In this paper we propose an extension of Strongin’s global optimization algorithm to a function continuous on a compact interval using the $\varepsilon$-Lipchitz conception, prove its convergence and solve some numerical examples using the software that implements the developed method.

Numerical simulation of corium cooling driven by natural convection in case of in-vessel retention and time-dependent heat generation
Computer Research and Modeling, 2021, v. 13, no. 4, pp. 807-822Represented study considers numerical simulation of corium cooling driven by natural convection within a horizontal hemicylindrical cavity, boundaries of which are assumed isothermal. Corium is a melt of ceramic fuel of a nuclear reactor and oxides of construction materials.
Corium cooling is a process occurring during severe accident associated with core melt. According to invessel retention conception, the accident may be restrained and localized, if the corium is contained within the vessel, only if it is cooled externally. This conception has a clear advantage over the melt trap, it can be implemented at already operating nuclear power plants. Thereby proper numerical analysis of the corium cooling has become such a relevant area of studies.
In the research, we assume the corium is contained within a horizontal semitube. The corium initially has temperature of the walls. In spite of reactor shutdown, the corium still generates heat owing to radioactive decays, and the amount of heat released decreases with time accordingly to Way–Wigner formula. The system of equations in Boussinesq approximation including momentum equation, continuity equation and energy equation, describes the natural convection within the cavity. Convective flows are taken to be laminar and two-dimensional.
The boundary-value problem of mathematical physics is formulated using the non-dimensional nonprimitive variables «stream function – vorticity». The obtained differential equations are solved numerically using the finite difference method and locally one-dimensional Samarskii scheme for the equations of parabolic type.
As a result of the present research, we have obtained the time behavior of mean Nusselt number at top and bottom walls for Rayleigh number ranged from 103 to 106. These mentioned dependences have been analyzed for various dimensionless operation periods before the accident. Investigations have been performed using streamlines and isotherms as well as time dependences for convective flow and heat transfer rates.

Tensor methods inside mixed oracle for min-min problems
Computer Research and Modeling, 2022, v. 14, no. 2, pp. 377-398In this article we consider min-min type of problems or minimization by two groups of variables. In some way it is similar to classic min-max saddle point problem. Although, saddle point problems are usually more difficult in some way. Min-min problems may occur in case if some groups of variables in convex optimization have different dimensions or if these groups have different domains. Such problem structure gives us an ability to split the main task to subproblems, and allows to tackle it with mixed oracles. However existing articles on this topic cover only zeroth and first order oracles, in our work we consider high-order tensor methods to solve inner problem and fast gradient method to solve outer problem.
We assume, that outer problem is constrained to some convex compact set, and for the inner problem we consider both unconstrained case and being constrained to some convex compact set. By definition, tensor methods use high-order derivatives, so the time per single iteration of the method depends a lot on the dimensionality of the problem it solves. Therefore, we suggest, that the dimension of the inner problem variable is not greater than 1000. Additionally, we need some specific assumptions to be able to use mixed oracles. Firstly, we assume, that the objective is convex in both groups of variables and its gradient by both variables is Lipschitz continuous. Secondly, we assume the inner problem is strongly convex and its gradient is Lipschitz continuous. Also, since we are going to use tensor methods for inner problem, we need it to be p-th order Lipschitz continuous ($p > 1$). Finally, we assume strong convexity of the outer problem to be able to use fast gradient method for strongly convex functions.
We need to emphasize, that we use superfast tensor method to tackle inner subproblem in unconstrained case. And when we solve inner problem on compact set, we use accelerated high-order composite proximal method.
Additionally, in the end of the article we compare the theoretical complexity of obtained methods with regular gradient method, which solves the mentioned problem as regular convex optimization problem and doesn’t take into account its structure (Remarks 1 and 2).

Numerical modeling of physical processes leading to the destruction of meteoroids in the Earth’s atmosphere
Computer Research and Modeling, 2022, v. 14, no. 4, pp. 835-851Within the framework of the actual problem of comet-asteroid danger, the physical processes causing the destruction and fragmentation of meteor bodies in the Earth’s atmosphere are numerically investigated. Based on the developed physicalmathematical models that determines the movements of space objects of natural origin in the atmosphere and their interaction with it, the fall of three, one of the largest and by some parameters unusual bolides in the history of meteoritics, are considered: Tunguska, Vitim and Chelyabinsk. Their singularity lies in the absence of any material meteorite remains and craters in the area of the alleged crash site for the first two bodies and the non-detection, as it is assumed, of the main mother body for the third body (due to the too small amount of mass of the fallen fragments compared to the estimated mass). The effect of aerodynamic loads and heat flows on these bodies are studied, which leads to intensive surface mass loss and possible mechanical destruction. The velocities of the studied celestial bodies and the change in their masses are determined from the modernized system of equations of the theory of meteoric physics. An important factor that is taken into account here is the variability of the meteorite mass entrainment parameter under the action of heat fluxes (radiation and convective) along the flight path. The process of fragmentation of meteoroids in this paper is considered within the framework of a progressive crushing model based on the statistical theory of strength, taking into account the influence of the scale factor on the ultimate strength of objects. The phenomena and effects arising at various kinematic and physical parameters of each of these bodies are revealed. In particular, the change in the ballistics of their flight in the denser layers of the atmosphere, consisting in the transition from the fall mode to the ascent mode. At the same time, the following scenarios of the event can be realized: 1) the return of the body back to outer space at its residual velocity greater than the second cosmic one; 2) the transition of the body to the orbit of the Earth satellite at a residual velocity greater than the first cosmic one; 3) at lower values of the residual velocity of the body, its return after some time to the fall mode and falling out at a considerable distance from the intended crash site. It is the implementation of one of these three scenarios of the event that explains, for example, the absence of material traces, including craters, in the case of the Tunguska bolide in the vicinity of the forest collapse. Assumptions about the possibility of such scenarios have been made earlier by other authors, and in this paper their implementation is confirmed by the results of numerical calculations.

Fuzzy knowledge extraction in the development of expert predictive diagnostic systems
Computer Research and Modeling, 2022, v. 14, no. 6, pp. 1395-1408Expert systems imitate professional experience and thinking process of a specialist to solve problems in various subject areas. An example of the problem that it is expedient to solve with the help of the expert system is the problem of forming a diagnosis that arises in technology, medicine, and other fields. When solving the diagnostic problem, it is necessary to anticipate the occurrence of critical or emergency situations in the future. They are situations, which require timely intervention of specialists to prevent critical aftermath. Fuzzy sets theory provides one of the approaches to solve ill-structured problems, diagnosis-making problems belong to which. The theory of fuzzy sets provides means for the formation of linguistic variables, which are helpful to describe the modeled process. Linguistic variables are elements of fuzzy logical rules that simulate the reasoning of professionals in the subject area. To develop fuzzy rules it is necessary to resort to a survey of experts. Knowledge engineers use experts’ opinion to evaluate correspondence between a typical current situation and the risk of emergency in the future. The result of knowledge extraction is a description of linguistic variables that includes a combination of signs. Experts are involved in the survey to create descriptions of linguistic variables and present a set of simulated situations. When building such systems, the main problem of the survey is laboriousness of the process of interaction of knowledge engineers with experts. The main reason is the multiplicity of questions the expert must answer. The paper represents reasoning of the method, which allows knowledge engineer to reduce the number of questions posed to the expert. The paper describes the experiments carried out to test the applicability of the proposed method. An expert system for predicting risk groups for neonatal pathologies and pregnancy pathologies using the proposed knowledge extraction method confirms the feasibility of the proposed approach.

Utilizing multi-source real data for traffic flow optimization in CTraf
Computer Research and Modeling, 2024, v. 16, no. 1, pp. 147-159The problem of optimal control of traffic flow in an urban road network is considered. The control is carried out by varying the duration of the working phases of traffic lights at controlled intersections. A description of the control system developed is given. The control system enables the use of three types of control: open-loop, feedback and manual. In feedback control, road infrastructure detectors, video cameras, inductive loop and radar detectors are used to determine the quantitative characteristics of current traffic flow state. The quantitative characteristics of the traffic flows are fed into a mathematical model of the traffic flow, implemented in the computer environment of an automatic traffic flow control system, in order to determine the moments for switching the working phases of the traffic lights. The model is a system of finite-difference recurrent equations and describes the change in traffic flow on each road section at each time step, based on retrived data on traffic flow characteristics in the network, capacity of maneuvers and flow distribution through alternative maneuvers at intersections. The model has scaling and aggregation properties. The structure of the model depends on the structure of the graph of the controlled road network. The number of nodes in the graph is equal to the number of road sections in the considered network. The simulation of traffic flow changes in real time makes it possible to optimally determine the duration of traffic light operating phases and to provide traffic flow control with feedback based on its current state. The system of automatic collection and processing of input data for the model is presented. In order to model the states of traffic flow in the network and to solve the problem of optimal traffic flow control, the CTraf software package has been developed, a brief description of which is given in the paper. An example of the solution of the optimal control problem of traffic flows on the basis of real data in the road network of Moscow is given.

Evolutionary effects of non-selective sustainable harvesting in a genetically heterogeneous population
Computer Research and Modeling, 2025, v. 17, no. 4, pp. 717-735The problem of harvest optimization remains a central challenge in mathematical biology. The concept of Maximum Sustainable Yield (MSY), widely used in optimal exploitation theory, proposes maintaining target populations at levels ensuring maximum reproduction, theoretically balancing economic benefits with resource conservation. While MSYbased management promotes population stability and system resilience, it faces significant limitations due to complex intrapopulation structures and nonlinear dynamics in exploited species. Of particular concern are the evolutionary consequences of harvesting, as artificial selection may drive changes divergent from natural selection pressures. Empirical evidence confirms that selective harvesting alters behavioral traits, reduces offspring quality, and modifies population gene pools. In contrast, the genetic impacts of non-selective harvesting remain poorly understood and require further investigation.
This study examines how non-selective harvesting with constant removal rates affects evolution in genetically heterogeneous populations. We model genetic diversity controlled by a single diallelic locus, where different genotypes dominate at high/low densities: r-strategists (high fecundity) versus K-strategists (resource-limited resilience). The classical ecological and genetic model with discrete time is considered. The model assumes that the fitness of each genotype linearly depends on the population size. By including the harvesting withdrawal coefficient, the model allows for linking the problem of optimizing harvest with the that of predicting genotype selection.
Analytical results demonstrate that under MSY harvesting the equilibrium genetic composition remains unchanged while population size halves. The type of genetic equilibrium may shift, as optimal harvest rates differ between equilibria. Natural K-strategist dominance may reverse toward r-strategists, whose high reproduction compensates for harvest losses. Critical harvesting thresholds triggering strategy shifts were identified.
These findings explain why exploited populations show slow recovery after harvesting cessation: exploitation reinforces adaptations beneficial under removal pressure but maladaptive in natural conditions. For instance, captive arctic foxes select for high-productivity genotypes, whereas wild populations favor lower-fecundity/higher-survival phenotypes. This underscores the necessity of incorporating genetic dynamics into sustainable harvesting management strategies, as MSY policies may inadvertently alter evolutionary trajectories through density-dependent selection processes. Recovery periods must account for genetic adaptation timescales in management frameworks.

Synchronization of circadian rhythms in the scale of a gene, a cell and a whole organism
Computer Research and Modeling, 2013, v. 5, no. 2, pp. 255-270Views (last year): 1. Citations: 8 (RSCI).In the paper three characteristic scales of a biological system are proposed: microscopic (gene's size), mesoscopic (cell’s size) and macroscopic level (organism’s size). For each case the approach to modeling of circadian rhythms is discussed on the base of a time-delay model. At gene’s scale the stochastic description has been used. The robustness of rhythms mechanism to the fluctuations has been demonstrated. At the mesoscopic scale we propose the deterministic description within the spatially extended model. It was found the effect of collective synchronization of rhythms in cells. Macroscopic effects have been studied within the discrete model describing the collective behaviour of large amount of cells. The problem of cross-linking of results obtained at different scales is discussed. The comparison with experimental data is given.
