Multidimensional nodal method of characteristics for hyperbolic systems
Computer Research and Modeling, 2021, v. 13, no. 1, pp. 19-32Disclosed is a multidimensional nodal method of characteristics, designed to integrate hyperbolic systems, based on splitting the initial system of equations into a number of one-dimensional subsystems, for which a onedimensional nodal method of characteristics is used. Calculation formulas are given, the calculation method is described in detail in relation to a single-speed model of a heterogeneous medium in the presence of gravity forces. The presented method is applicable to other hyperbolic systems of equations. Using this explicit, nonconservative, first-order accuracy of the method, a number of test tasks are calculated and it is shown that in the framework of the proposed approach, by attracting additional points in the circuit template, it is possible to carry out calculations with Courant numbers exceeding one. So, in the calculation of the flow of the threedimensional step by the flow of a heterogeneous mixture, the Courant number was 1.2. If Godunov’s method is used to solve the same problem, the maximum number of Courant, at which a stable account is possible, is 0.13 × 10-2. Another feature of the multidimensional method of characteristics is the weak dependence of the time step on the dimension of the problem, which significantly expands the possibilities of this approach. Using this method, a number of problems were calculated that were previously considered “heavy” for the numerical methods of Godunov, Courant – Isaacson – Rees, which is due to the fact that it most fully uses the advantages of the characteristic representation of the system of equations.

Analysis of mechanical structures of complex technical systems
Computer Research and Modeling, 2021, v. 13, no. 5, pp. 903-916The work is devoted to the structural analysis of complex technical systems. Mechanical structures are considered, the properties of which affect the behavior of products during assembly, repair and operation. The main source of data on parts and mechanical connections between them is a hypergraph. This model formalizes the multidimensional basing relation. The hypergraph correctly describes the connectivity and mutual coordination of parts, which is achieved during the assembly of the product. When developing complex products in CAD systems, an engineer often makes serious design mistakes: overbasing of parts and non-sequential assembly operations. Effective ways of identifying these structural defects have been proposed. It is shown that the property of independent assembly can be represented as a closure operator whose domain is the boolean of the set of product parts. The images of this operator are connected and coordinated subsets of parts that can be assembled independently. A lattice model is described, which is the state space of the product during assembly, disassembly and decomposition into assembly units. The lattice model serves as a source of various structural information about the project. Numerical estimates of the cardinality of the set of admissible alternatives in the problems of choosing an assembly sequence and decomposition into assembly units are proposed. For many technical operations (for example, control, testing, etc.), it is necessary to mount all the operand parts in one assembly unit. A simple formalization of the technical conditions requiring the inclusion (exclusion) of parts in the assembly unit (from the assembly unit) has been developed. A theorem that gives an mathematical description of product decomposition into assembly units in exact lattice terms is given. A method for numerical evaluation of the robustness of the mechanical structure of a complex technical system is proposed.

Method for processing acoustic emission testing data to define signal velocity and location
Computer Research and Modeling, 2022, v. 14, no. 5, pp. 1029-1040Non-destructive acoustic emission testing is an effective and cost-efficient way to examine pressure vessels for hidden defects (cracks, laminations etc.), as well as the only method that is sensitive to developing defects. The sound velocity in the test object and its adequate definition in the location scheme are of paramount importance for the accurate detection of the acoustic emission source. The acoustic emission data processing method proposed herein comprises a set of numerical methods and allows defining the source coordinates and the most probable velocity for each signal. The method includes pre-filtering of data by amplitude, by time differences, elimination of electromagnetic interference. Further, a set of numerical methods is applied to them to solve the system of nonlinear equations, in particular, the Newton – Kantorovich method and the general iterative process. The velocity of a signal from one source is assumed as a constant in all directions. As the initial approximation is taken the center of gravity of the triangle formed by the first three sensors that registered the signal. The method developed has an important practical application, and the paper provides an example of its approbation in the calibration of an acoustic emission system at a production facility (hydrocarbon gas purification absorber). Criteria for prefiltering of data are described. The obtained locations are in good agreement with the signal generation sources, and the velocities even reflect the Rayleigh-Lamb division of acoustic waves due to the different signal source distances from the sensors. The article contains the dependency graph of the average signal velocity against the distance from its source to the nearest sensor. The main advantage of the method developed is its ability to detect the location of different velocity signals within a single test. This allows to increase the degree of freedom in the calculations, and thereby increase their accuracy.

About one version of the nodal method of characteristics
Computer Research and Modeling, 2023, v. 15, no. 1, pp. 29-44A variant of the inverse method of characteristics (IMH) is presented, in whose algorithm an additional fractional time step is introduced, which makes it possible to increase the accuracy of calculations due to a more accurate approximation of the characteristics. The calculation formulas of the modified method for the equations of the one-velocity model of a gas-liquid mixture are given, with the help of which one-dimensional and also flat test problems with self-similar solutions are calculated. When solving multidimensional problems, the original system of equations is split into a number of one-dimensional subsystems, for the calculation of which the inverse method of characteristics with a fractional time step is used. Using the proposed method, the following were calculated: the one-dimensional problem of the decay of an arbitrary discontinuity in a dispersed medium; a twodimensional problem of the interaction of a homogeneous gas-liquid flow with an obstacle with an attached shock wave, as well as a flow with a centered rarefaction wave. The results of numerical calculations of these problems are compared with self-similar solutions and their satisfactory agreement is noted. On the example of the Riemann problem with a shock wave, a comparison is made with a number of conservative, non-conservative, first and higher orders of accuracy schemes, from which, in particular, it follows that the presented calculation method, i. e. MIMC, quite competitive. Despite the fact that the application of MIMC requires many times more time than the original inverse method of characteristics (IMC), calculations can be carried out with an increased time step and, in some cases, more accurate results can be obtained. It is noted that the method with a fractional time step has advantages over the IMC in cases where the characteristics of the system are significantly curvilinear. For this reason, the use of MIMC, for example, for the Euler equations is inappropriate, since for the latter the characteristics within the time step differ little from straight lines.

Solution to a two-dimensional nonlinear heat equation using null field method
Computer Research and Modeling, 2023, v. 15, no. 6, pp. 1449-1467The paper deals with a heat wave motion problem for a degenerate second-order nonlinear parabolic equation with power nonlinearity. The considered boundary condition specifies in a plane the motion equation of the circular zero front of the heat wave. A new numerical-analytical algorithm for solving the problem is proposed. A solution is constructed stepby- step in time using difference time discretization. At each time step, a boundary value problem for the Poisson equation corresponding to the original equation at a fixed time is considered. This problem is, in fact, an inverse Cauchy problem in the domain whose initial boundary is free of boundary conditions and two boundary conditions (Neumann and Dirichlet) are specified on a current boundary (heat wave). A solution of this problem is constructed as the sum of a particular solution to the nonhomogeneous Poisson equation and a solution to the corresponding Laplace equation satisfying the boundary conditions. Since the inhomogeneity depends on the desired function and its derivatives, an iterative solution procedure is used. The particular solution is sought by the collocation method using inhomogeneity expansion in radial basis functions. The inverse Cauchy problem for the Laplace equation is solved by the null field method as applied to a circular domain with a circular hole. This method is used for the first time to solve such problem. The calculation algorithm is optimized by parallelizing the computations. The parallelization of the computations allows us to realize effectively the algorithm on high performance computing servers. The algorithm is implemented as a program, which is parallelized by using the OpenMP standard for the C++ language, suitable for calculations with parallel cycles. The effectiveness of the algorithm and the robustness of the program are tested by the comparison of the calculation results with the known exact solution as well as with the numerical solution obtained earlier by the authors with the use of the boundary element method. The implemented computational experiment shows good convergence of the iteration processes and higher calculation accuracy of the proposed new algorithm than of the previously developed one. The solution analysis allows us to select the radial basis functions which are most suitable for the proposed algorithm.

Solving traveling salesman problem via clustering and a new algorithm for merging tours
Computer Research and Modeling, 2025, v. 17, no. 1, pp. 45-58Traditional methods for solving the traveling salesman problem are not effective for high-dimensional problems due to their high computational complexity. One of the most effective ways to solve this problem is the decomposition approach, which includes three main stages: clustering vertices, solving subproblems within each cluster and then merging the obtained solutions into a final solution. This article focuses on the third stage — merging cycles of solving subproblems — since this stage is not always given sufficient attention, which leads to less accurate final solutions of the problem. The paper proposes a new modified Sigal algorithm for merging cycles. To evaluate its effectiveness, it is compared with two algorithms for merging cycles — the method of connecting midpoints of edges and an algorithm based on closeness of cluster centroids. The dependence of quality of solving subproblems on algorithms used for merging cycles is investigated. Sigal’s modified algorithm performs pairwise clustering and minimizes total distance. The centroid method focuses on connecting clusters based on closeness of centroids, and an algorithm using mid-points estimates the distance between mid-points of edges. Two types of clustering — k-means and affinity propagation — were also considered. Numerical experiments were performed using the TSPLIB dataset with different numbers of cities and topologies to test effectiveness of proposed algorithm. The study analyzes errors caused by the order in which clusters were merged, the quality of solving subtasks and number of clusters. Experiments show that the modified Sigal algorithm has the smallest median final distance and the most stable results compared to other methods. Results indicate that the quality of the final solution obtained using the modified Sigal algorithm is more stable depending on the sequence of merging clusters. Improving the quality of solving subproblems usually results in linear improvement of the final solution, but the pooling algorithm rarely affects the degree of this improvement.

Resource-adaptive approach to structured text data annotation using small language models
Computer Research and Modeling, 2026, v. 18, no. 1, pp. 41-59This paper presents an experimental study of the application of automatic annotation of text data in the question – answer format (QA pairs) under conditions of limited computing resources and data protection requirements. Unlike traditional approaches based on rigid rules or the use of external APIs, we propose using small language models with a small number of parameters that can function locally without a GPU on standard CPU systems. Two models were selected for testing — Gemma-3-4b and Qwen-2.5-3b (quantized 4-bit versions) — and a corpus of documents with a clear structure and a formally rigorous style of presentation was used as source material. An automatic annotation system was developed that implements the full cycle of QA dataset generation: automatic division of the source document into logically connected fragments, formation of “question – answer” pairs using the Gemma-3-4b model, preliminary verification of their correctness using Qwen-2.5-3b based on evidence span from the context and expert quality assessment. The results are exported in JSONL format. Performance evaluation covers the entire QA pair generation system, including fragment processing by the local language model, text preprocessing and postprocessing modules. Performance is measured by the time it takes to generate a single QA pair, the total throughput of the system, RAM usage, and CPU load, which allows for an objective assessment of the computational efficiency of the proposed approach when running on a CPU. An experiment on an extended sample of 12 documents showed that automatic annotation demonstrates stable performance when processing different types of documents, while manual annotation is characterized by significantly higher time costs and high variability. Depending on the type of document, the acceleration of annotation compared to the manual process ranges from 8 to 14 times. Quality analysis showed that most of the generated QA pairs have high semantic consistency with the original context, with only a limited proportion of data requiring expert correction or exception. Although full manual validation of the corpus (the “gold standard”) was not performed as part of this work, the combination of automatic evaluation and selective expert review allows us to consider the resulting quality level acceptable for preliminary automated annotation tasks. Overall, the results confirm the practical applicability of small language models for building autonomous and reproducible automatic text annotation systems under limited computational resources and provide a basis for further research in the field of effective training corpus preparation for natural language processing tasks.

Test-signals forming method for correlation identification of nonlinear systems

Citations: 3 (RSCI).Тhe new test-signals forming method for correlation identification of a nonlinear system based on Lee–Shetzen cross-correlation approach is developed and tested. Numerical Gauss–Newton algorithm is applied to correct autocorrelation functions of test signals. The achieved test-signals have length less than 40 000 points and allow to measure the 2nd order Wiener kernels with a linear resolution up to 32 points, the 3rd order Wiener kernels with a linear resolution up to 12 points and the 4th order Wiener kernels with a linear resolution up to 8 points.

Analysis of the possibility of investigation of hydrodynamic responses and landing dynamics of space module impacting water with FlowVision CFD software
Computer Research and Modeling, 2017, v. 9, no. 1, pp. 47-55Views (last year): 10.The results of verification carried out for investigations of hydrodynamic effect on reentry conicalsegmental space vehicle are presented in the paper. The program complex Flow Vision is used for this analysis. The purpose of the study is verification of using Flow Vision program complex for problem solving mentioned above on the base of comparison between calculated and experimental data, obtained on the Apollo landing models and new development reentry spacecraft of manned transporting spaceship designed by RSC Energia. The comparison was carried out through the data of pressure values on spacecraft model surfaces during its water landing and inertia center motion parameters.
The results of study show good agreement between experimental and calculated data of force effects on vehicle construction during water landing and its motion parameters in the water medium. Computer simulation sufficiently well reproduces influence of initial velocities & water entry angles variations on water landing process.
Using of computer simulation provides simultaneous acquisition of all data information needed for investigation of water landing peculiarities during construction design, notably, hydrodynamic effects for structural strength calculations, parameters and dynamics of center mass motion and vehicle revolution around center mass for estimation water landing conditions, as well as vehicle stability after landing.
Obtained results confirm suitability of using Flow Vision program complex for water landing vehicle investigations and investigations of influence of different landing regimes through wide initial condition change range, that permits considerably decrease extent of expensive experimental tests and realize landing conditions which are sufficiently complicated for realizing in model physical experiments.

Development of the remotely piloted agricultural aircraft (RPAA) control system on the basis of the airplane MV-500
Computer Research and Modeling, 2018, v. 10, no. 3, pp. 315-323Views (last year): 20.The article presents the intermediate results of the development of a control system for a remotely piloted agricultural aircraft (RPAA). The concept of using an automated complex for performing aerochemical work (ACW) designed for processing fields, water areas, forests with the purpose of protection from pests of plants, fertilization is developed. The basic component of the complex is a manned agricultural aircraft MV-500 developed by LLC “Firm “MVEN” (Kazan). The use of the aircraft in unmanned mode will provide an increase in the productivity of the aircraft, will increase the payload.
The article defines the composition of the complex for automation of ACW: aircraft, ground control center, onboard equipment for automated control of the aircraft and the formation of a map of the heights of the section being processed, and the satellite precise positioning system necessary to automate the control of the aircraft. The aircraft is equipped with an automated control system that provides remote control of take-off and landing and automatic control of the flight trajectory at extremely low altitude when performing ACW and performing spatial turns at the boundaries of the treated areas. It is proposed to take off, landing, dropping an aircraft into the ACW exercise area by means of a pilot operator from a ground control station. The ground control point should provide reception and display on the operator's screen of flight information and several types from the aircraft. The operator can control alternately several aircraft during these phases of flight with the help of ground control authorities. In the future, it is planned to automate these stages of flight, leaving behind the pilot-operator control functions and remote control capabilities in special cases. For the navigation of the aircraft, when performing ACW on board, RTK (Real Time Kinematic) equipment is installed, providing a measurement with centimeter accuracy of coordinates and aircraft heights relative to the base station installed in the ground control station. Before the implementation of ACW, a three-dimensional digital map of the processed area is built by adding existing cadastral maps with measurements of the elevations of the section carried out with the help of on-board radio and optical altimeters of the same aircraft.
To date, the following system components have been manufactured and tested: a remotely controlled model of the MV-500 aircraft at a scale of 1:5, a satellite positioning system; system for obtaining images and telemetry information from the board model; autopilot; methods of obtaining three-dimensional digital maps of sections and planning flight trajectories for ACW.
