  1. This article solves the problem of developing a technology for collecting initial data for building models for assessing the functional state of a person. This condition is assessed by the pupil response of a person to a change in illumination based on the pupillometry method. This method involves the collection and analysis of initial data (pupillograms), presented in the form of time series characterizing the dynamics of changes in the human pupils to a light impulse effect. The drawbacks of the traditional approach to the collection of initial data using the methods of computer vision and smoothing of time series are analyzed. Attention is focused on the importance of the quality of the initial data for the construction of adequate mathematical models. The need for manual marking of the iris and pupil circles is updated to improve the accuracy and quality of the initial data. The stages of the proposed technology for collecting initial data are described. An example of the obtained pupillogram is given, which has a smooth shape and does not contain outliers, noise, anomalies and missing values. Based on the presented technology, a software and hardware complex has been developed, which is a collection of special software with two main modules, and hardware implemented on the basis of a Raspberry Pi 4 Model B microcomputer, with peripheral equipment that implements the specified functionality. To evaluate the effectiveness of the developed technology, models of a single-layer perspetron and a collective of neural networks are used, for the construction of which the initial data on the functional state of intoxication of a person were used. The studies have shown that the use of manual marking of the initial data (in comparison with automatic methods of computer vision) leads to a decrease in the number of errors of the 1st and 2nd years of the kind and, accordingly, to an increase in the accuracy of assessing the functional state of a person. Thus, the presented technology for collecting initial data can be effectively used to build adequate models for assessing the functional state of a person by pupillary response to changes in illumination. The use of such models is relevant in solving individual problems of ensuring transport security, in particular, monitoring the functional state of drivers.

  2. When modeling turbulent flows in practical applications, it is often necessary to carry out a series of calculations of bodies of similar topology. For example, bodies that differ in the shape of the fairing. The use of convolutional neural networks allows to reduce the number of calculations in a series, restoring some of them based on calculations already performed. The paper proposes a method that allows to apply a convolutional neural network regardless of the method of constructing a computational mesh. To do this, the flow field is reinterpolated to a uniform mesh along with the body itself. The geometry of the body is set using the signed distance function and masking. The restoration of the flow field based on part of the calculations for similar geometries is carried out using a neural network of the UNet type with a spatial attention mechanism. The resolution of the nearwall region, which is a critical condition for turbulent modeling, is based on the equations obtained in the nearwall domain decomposition method.

A demonstration of the method is given for the case of a flow around a rounded plate by a turbulent air flow with different rounding at fixed parameters of the incoming flow with the Reynolds number $Re = 10^5$ and the Mach number $M = 0.15$. Since flows with such parameters of the incoming flow can be considered incompressible, only the velocity components are studied directly. The flow fields, velocity and friction profiles obtained by the surrogate model and numerically are compared. The analysis is carried out both on the plate and on the rounding. The simulation results confirm the prospects of the proposed approach. In particular, it was shown that even if the model is used at the maximum permissible limits of its applicability, friction can be obtained with an accuracy of up to 90%. The work also analyzes the constructed architecture of the neural network. The obtained surrogate model is compared with alternative models based on a variational autoencoder or the principal component analysis using radial basis functions. Based on this comparison, the advantages of the proposed method are demonstrated.

Method for coronary blood flow velocity estimation based on angiographic images
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2026, v. 18, no. 3, pp. 715-735

In modern cardiology, accurate assessment of the functional significance of coronary artery stenoses is a critical factor for selecting treatment strategies and making informed clinical decisions. This paper presents an automated algorithm for processing dynamic X-ray angiographic image sequences aimed at estimating blood flow velocity. This parameter serves as the basis for determining the Quantitative Flow Ratio (QFR), which acts as an effective noninvasive alternative to traditional invasive fractional flow reserve (FFR) measurements. The proposed methodology successfully overcomes classic challenges of angiographic analysis, such as vessel motion artifacts during the cardio-respiratory cycle, variable contrast opacification, and the geometric complexity of the vascular tree in two-dimensional projections.

The presented processing workflow includes several key stages. Initially, frame preprocessing is performed to suppress noise and filter out the anatomical background. Subsequently, segmentation is implemented using a Sato filter and Otsu thresholding, followed by skeletonization to extract vessel centerlines. Particular attention is paid to the algorithm for automated identification of bifurcation points and the filtration of artifactual intersections caused by vessel overlapping. To ensure data continuity, a temporal tracking method for the target segment based on template correlation is applied, which is especially important during phases with low contrast agent concentration. The mathematical core of the algorithm is based on solving a 1D inverse problem for the advection-diffusion equation, allowing for the recovery of blood flow velocity from temporal intensity curves.

As part of the study, a detailed validation of the method was conducted by comparing automated calculation results with manual expert measurements across ten clinical datasets. The results confirm the robustness of the computational scheme within physiologically relevant ranges and its ability to significantly reduce inter-observer variability. The developed approach minimizes the need for physician intervention in the data processing stage, opening up prospects for creating real-time clinical decision support systems in the catheterization laboratory setting.

Investigation of water injection influence on hydrocyclone separation performance
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2012, v. 4, no. 4, pp. 803-810

In this paper particularities of the swirling turbulent flow of monodisperse suspension in the hydrocyclone with injector are investigated on the base of the numerical simulation. The 2D axisymmetric approximation of Reynolds Stresses Model and model of mixture is used to describe the swirling turbulent flow field of suspension and particles parameters in the hydrocyclone. Special attention is paid to the clarification of mechanisms of injection influence on the reorganization of hydrodynamic field and finally on classification mechanisms. It is shown that tangential injection method stronger effects separation curve compared to the radial one.

Physical analysis and mathematical modeling of the parameters of explosion region produced in a rarefied ionosphere
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2022, v. 14, no. 4, pp. 817-833

The paper presents a physical and numerical analysis of the dynamics and radiation of explosion products formed during the Russian-American experiment in the ionosphere using an explosive generator based on hexogen (RDX) and trinitrotoluene (TNT). The main attention is paid to the radiation of the perturbed region and the dynamics of the products of explosion (PE). The detailed chemical composition of the explosion products is analyzed and the initial concentrations of the most important molecules capable of emitting in the infrared range of the spectrum are determined, and their radiative constants are given. The initial temperature of the explosion products and the adiabatic exponent are determined. The nature of the interpenetration of atoms and molecules of a highly rarefied ionosphere into a spherically expanding cloud of products is analyzed. An approximate mathematical model of the dynamics of explosion products under conditions of mixing rarefied ionospheric air with them has been developed and the main thermodynamic characteristics of the system have been calculated. It is shown that for a time of 0,3–3 sec there is a significant increase in the temperature of the scattering mixture as a result of its deceleration. In the problem under consideration the explosion products and the background gas are separated by a contact boundary. To solve this two-region gas dynamic problem a numerical algorithm based on the Lagrangian approach was developed. It was necessary to fulfill special conditions at the contact boundary during its movement in a stationary gas. In this case there are certain difficulties in describing the parameters of the explosion products near the contact boundary which is associated with a large difference in the size of the mass cells of the explosion products and the background due to a density difference of 13 orders of magnitude. To reduce the calculation time of this problem an irregular calculation grid was used in the area of explosion products. Calculations were performed with different adiabatic exponents. The most important result is temperature. It is in good agreement with the results obtained by the method that approximately takes into account interpenetration. The time behavior of the IR emission coefficients of active molecules in a wide range of the spectrum is obtained. This behavior is qualitatively consistent with experiments for the IR glow of flying explosion products.

Modeling the dynamics of public attention to extended processes on the example of the COVID-19 pandemic
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2022, v. 14, no. 5, pp. 1131-1141

The dynamics of public attention to COVID-19 epidemic is studied. The level of public attention is described by the daily number of search requests in Google made by users from a given country. In the empirical part of the work, data on the number of requests and the number of infected cases for a number of countries are considered. It is shown that in all cases the maximum of public attention occurs earlier than the maximum daily number of newly infected individuals. Thus, for a certain period of time, the growth of the epidemics occurs in parallel with the decline in public attention to it. It is also shown that the decline in the number of requests is described by an exponential function of time. In order to describe the revealed empirical pattern, a mathematical model is proposed, which is a modification of the model of the decline in attention after a one-time political event. The model develops the approach that considers decision-making by an individual as a member of the society in which the information process takes place. This approach assumes that an individual’s decision about whether or not to make a request on a given day about COVID is based on two factors. One of them is an attitude that reflects the individual’s long-term interest in a given topic and accumulates the individual’s previous experience, cultural preferences, social and economic status. The second is the dynamic factor of public attention to the epidemic, which changes during the process under consideration under the influence of informational stimuli. With regard to the subject under consideration, information stimuli are related to epidemic dynamics. The behavioral hypothesis is that if on some day the sum of the attitude and the dynamic factor exceeds a certain threshold value, then on that day the individual in question makes a search request on the topic of COVID. The general logic is that the higher the rate of infection growth, the higher the information stimulus, the slower decreases public attention to the pandemic. Thus, the constructed model made it possible to correlate the rate of exponential decrease in the number of requests with the rate of growth in the number of cases. The regularity found with the help of the model was tested on empirical data. It was found that the Student’s statistic is 4.56, which allows us to reject the hypothesis of the absence of a correlation with a significance level of 0.01.

  7. The creation of a virtual laboratory stand that allows one to obtain reliable characteristics that can be proven as actual, taking into account errors and noises (which is the main distinguishing feature of a computational experiment from model studies) is one of the main problems of this work. It considers the following task: there is a rectangular waveguide in the single operating mode, on the wide wall of which a technological hole is cut, through which a sample for research is placed into the cavity of the transmission line. The recovery algorithm is as follows: the laboratory measures the network parameters (S11 and/or S21) in the transmission line with the sample. In the computer model of the laboratory stand, the sample geometry is reconstructed and an iterative process of optimization (or sweeping) of the electrophysical parameters is started, the mask of this process is the experimental data, and the stop criterion is the interpretive estimate of proximity (or residual). It is important to note that the developed computer model, along with its apparent simplicity, is initially ill-conditioned. To set up a computational experiment, the Comsol modeling environment is used. The results of the computational experiment with a good degree of accuracy coincided with the results of laboratory studies. Thus, experimental verification was carried out for several significant components, both the computer model in particular and the algorithm for restoring the target parameters in general. It is important to note that the computer model developed and described in this work may be effectively used for a computational experiment to restore the full dielectric parameters of a complex geometry target. Weak bianisotropy effects can also be detected, including chirality, gyrotropy, and material nonreciprocity. The resulting model is, by definition, incomplete, but its completeness is the highest of the considered options, while at the same time, the resulting model is well conditioned. Particular attention in this work is paid to the modeling of a coaxial-waveguide transition, it is shown that the use of a discrete-element approach is preferable to the direct modeling of the geometry of a microwave device.

An Algorithm for Simulating the Banking Network System and Its Application for Analyzing Macroprudential Policy
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2021, v. 13, no. 6, pp. 1275-1289

Modeling banking systems using a network approach has received growing attention in recent years. One of the notable models is that developed by Iori et al, who proposed a banking system model for analyzing systemic risks in interbank networks. The model is built based on the simple dynamics of several bank balance sheet variables such as deposit, equity, loan, liquid asset, and interbank lending (or borrowing) in the form of difference equations. Each bank faces random shocks in deposits and loans. The balance sheet is updated at the beginning or end of each period. In the model, banks are grouped into either potential lenders or borrowers. The potential borrowers are those that have lack of liquidity and the potential lenders are those which have excess liquids after dividend payment and channeling new investment. The borrowers and the lenders are connected through the interbank market. Those borrowers have some percentage of linkage to random potential lenders for borrowing funds to maintain their safety net of the liquidity. If the demand for borrowing funds can meet the supply of excess liquids, then the borrower bank survives. If not, they are deemed to be in default and will be removed from the banking system. However, in their paper, most part of the interbank borrowing-lending mechanism is described qualitatively rather than by detailed mathematical or computational analysis. Therefore, in this paper, we enhance the mathematical parts of borrowing-lending in the interbank market and present an algorithm for simulating the model. We also perform some simulations to analyze the effects of the model’s parameters on banking stability using the number of surviving banks as the measure. We apply this technique to analyze the effects of a macroprudential policy called loan-to-deposit ratio based reserve requirement for banking stability.

Reducing computational complexity in agent-based epidemiological model calibration: application of deep learning surrogates
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2026, v. 18, no. 1, pp. 185-200

Acute respiratory infections are a major public health concern because they are the leading cause of illness and death in many countries. Therefore, there is great interest in developing models and methods capable of modeling the spread of these infections within communities, with the aim of controlling outbreaks and preventing their spread. Agent-based models (ABM) are one of the most important tools in epidemiological research for modeling epidemic dynamics in realistic populations, but they face significant challenges in terms of computational complexity in their operation and calibration of epidemiological data, as parameter estimation typically requires repeated simulations across large parameter spaces to determine plausible values for key epidemiological parameters. This paper addresses the problem of alleviating computational constraints in the inverse problem of calibrating an ABM model for simulating the spread of respiratory infections in Saint Petersburg. The paper proposes the application of machine learning surrogate to link epidemic trajectories to underlying epidemiological parameters, enabling them to quickly infer parameter estimates from observed epidemic data. This is done by formulating the task of calibrating ABMs against epidemiological data as a supervised learning problem, where sequences extracted from epidemiological trajectories are associated with underlying epidemiological parameters. The research was based on evaluating the performance of attention-based sequence modeling, probabilistic deep learning, and distributional regression for inferring parameter estimates from truncated sequences of epidemic trajectories. Experimental evaluations have demonstrated the effectiveness of this approach and its practical and straightforward application. The results also indicated the superiority of attention-based sequence modeling, as it showed more consistent performance across metrics and horizons in accurate parameter estimation and credible uncertainty quantification. Distributional regression modeling also showed good performance with specific strengths in point accuracy while probabilistic deep learning performed poorly, especially at longer input horizons.

Development of a computational environment for mathematical modeling of superconducting nanostructures with a magnet
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2023, v. 15, no. 5, pp. 1349-1358

Now days the main research activity in the field of nanotechnology is aimed at the creation, study and application of new materials and new structures. Recently, much attention has been attracted by the possibility of controlling magnetic properties using a superconducting current, as well as the influence of magnetic dynamics on the current–voltage characteristics of hybrid superconductor/ferromagnet (S/F) nanostructures. In particular, such structures include the S/F/S Josephson junction or molecular nanomagnets coupled to the Josephson junctions. Theoretical studies of the dynamics of such structures need processes of a large number of coupled nonlinear equations. Numerical modeling of hybrid superconductor/magnet nanostructures implies the calculation of both magnetic dynamics and the dynamics of the superconducting phase, which strongly increases their complexity and scale, so it is advisable to use heterogeneous computing systems.

In the course of studying the physical properties of these objects, it becomes necessary to numerically solve complex systems of nonlinear differential equations, which requires significant time and computational resources.

The currently existing micromagnetic algorithms and frameworks are based on the finite difference or finite element method and are extremely useful for modeling the dynamics of magnetization on a wide time scale. However, the functionality of existing packages does not allow to fully implement the desired computation scheme.

The aim of the research is to develop a unified environment for modeling hybrid superconductor/magnet nanostructures, providing access to solvers and developed algorithms, and based on a heterogeneous computing paradigm that allows research of superconducting elements in nanoscale structures with magnets and hybrid quantum materials. In this paper, we investigate resonant phenomena in the nanomagnet system associated with the Josephson junction. Such a system has rich resonant physics. To study the possibility of magnetic reversal depending on the model parameters, it is necessary to solve numerically the Cauchy problem for a system of nonlinear equations. For numerical simulation of hybrid superconductor/magnet nanostructures, a computing environment based on the heterogeneous HybriLIT computing platform is implemented. During the calculations, all the calculation times obtained were averaged over three launches. The results obtained here are of great practical importance and provide the necessary information for evaluating the physical parameters in superconductor/magnet hybrid nanostructures.
