Statistical analysis of Margolus’s block-rotating mechanism cellular automation modeling the diffusion in a medium with discrete singularities
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2015, v. 7, no. 6, pp. 1155-1175

The generalization of Margolus’s block cellular automaton on a hexagonal grid is formulated. Statistical analysis of the results of probabilistic cellular automation for vast variety of this scheme solving the test task of diffusion is done. It is shown that the choice of the hexagon blocks is 25% more efficient than Y-blocks. It is shown that the algorithms have polynomial complexity, and the polynom degree lies within 0.6÷0.8 for parallel computer, and in the range 1.5÷1.7 for serial computer. The effects of embedded into automaton’s field defective cells on the rate of convergence are studied also.

    FlowVision: Industrial computational fluid dynamics
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2017, v. 9, no. 1, pp. 5-20

The work submits new release of the FlowVision software designed for automation of engineering calculations in computational fluid dynamics: FlowVision 3.09.05. The FlowVision software is used for solving different industrial problems. Its popularity is based on the capability to solve complex non-tradition problems involving different physical processes. The paradigm of complete automation of labor-intensive and time-taking processes like grid generation makes FlowVision attractive for many engineers. FlowVision is completely developer-independent software. It includes an advanced graphical interface, the system for specifying a computational project as well as the system for flow visualization on planes, on curvilinear surfaces and in volume by means of different methods: plots, color contours, iso-lines, iso-surfaces, vector fields. Besides that, FlowVision provides tools for calculation of integral characteristics on surfaces and in volumetric regions.

The software is based on the finite-volume approach to approximation of the partial differential equations describing fluid motion and accompanying physical processes. It provides explicit and implicit methods for time integration of these equations. The software includes automated generator of unstructured grid with capability of its local dynamic adaptation. The solver involves two-level parallelism which allows calculations on computers with distributed and shared memory (coexisting in the same hardware). FlowVision incorporates a wide spectrum of physical models: different turbulence models, models for mass transfer accounting for chemical reactions and radioactive decay, several combustion models, a dispersed phase model, an electro-hydrodynamic model, an original VOF model for tracking moving interfaces. It should be noted that turbulence can be simulated within URANS, LES, and ILES approaches. FlowVision simulates fluid motion with velocities corresponding to all possible flow regimes: from incompressible to hypersonic. This is achieved by using an original all-speed velocity-pressure split algorithm for integration of the Navier-Stokes equations.

FlowVision enables solving multi-physic problems with use of different modeling tools. For instance, one can simulate multi-phase flows with use of the VOF method, flows past bodies moving across a stationary grid (within Euler approach), flows in rotary machines with use of the technology of sliding grid. Besides that, the software solves fluid-structure interaction problems using the technology of two-way coupling of FlowVision with finite-element codes. Two examples of solving challenging problems in the FlowVision software are demonstrated in the given article. The first one is splashdown of a spacecraft after deceleration by means of jet engines. This problem is characterized by presence of moving bodies and contact surface between the air and the water in the computational domain. The supersonic jets interact with the air-water interphase. The second problem is simulation of the work of a human heart with artificial and natural valves designed on the basis of tomographic investigations with use of a finite-element model of the heart. This problem is characterized by two-way coupling between the “liquid” computational domain and the finite-element model of the hart muscles.

Construction and investigation of continuous cellular automatа model of heat conductivity processes with first order phase transitions
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2013, v. 5, no. 2, pp. 141-152

The process of heat conduction, accompanied by the first order phase transitions is discussed in this article. Using cellular automates simulation was investigated class of problems that have broad application in practice. In this paper we calculate the temperature distribution in the depth of the soil at different times for a problem of freezing of moist soil. Another task — zone growing — has been modeled by cellular automates too. The coincidence of real and modeling parameters of the system confirms the feasibility of using the selected method of modeling of physical processes.

Method of forming multiprogram control of an isolated intersection
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2021, v. 13, no. 2, pp. 295-303

The simplest and most desirable method of traffic signal control is precalculated regulation, when the parameters of the traffic light object operation are calculated in advance and activated in accordance to a schedule. This work proposes a method of forming a signal plan that allows one to calculate the control programs and set the period of their activity. Preparation of initial data for the calculation includes the formation of a time series of daily traffic intensity with an interval of 15 minutes. When carrying out field studies, it is possible that part of the traffic intensity measurements is missing. To fill up the missing traffic intensity measurements, the spline interpolation method is used. The next step of the method is to calculate the daily set of signal plans. The work presents the interdependencies, which allow one to calculate the optimal durations of the control cycle and the permitting phase movement and to set the period of their activity. The present movement control systems have a limit on the number of control programs. To reduce the signal plans' number and to determine their activity period, the clusterization using the k-means method in the transport phase space is introduced In the new daily signal plan, the duration of the phases is determined by the coordinates of the received cluster centers, and the activity periods are set by the elements included in the cluster. Testing on a numerical illustration showed that, when the number of clusters is 10, the deviation of the optimal phase duration from the cluster centers does not exceed 2 seconds. To evaluate the effectiveness of the developed methodology, a real intersection with traffic light regulation was considered as an example. Based on field studies of traffic patterns and traffic demand, a microscopic model for the SUMO (Simulation of Urban Mobility) program was developed. The efficiency assessment is based on the transport losses estimated by the time spent on movement. Simulation modeling of the multiprogram control of traffic lights showed a 20% reduction in the delay time at the traffic light object in comparison with the single-program control. The proposed method allows automation of the process of calculating daily signal plans and setting the time of their activity.

Automating high-quality concept banks: leveraging LLMs and multimodal evaluation metrics
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2024, v. 16, no. 7, pp. 1555-1567

Interpretability in recent deep learning models has become an epicenter of research particularly in sensitive domains such as healthcare, and finance. Concept bottleneck models have emerged as a promising approach for achieving transparency and interpretability by leveraging a set of humanunderstandable concepts as an intermediate representation before the prediction layer. However, manual concept annotation is discouraged due to the time and effort involved. Our work explores the potential of large language models (LLMs) for generating high-quality concept banks and proposes a multimodal evaluation metric to assess the quality of generated concepts. We investigate three key research questions: the ability of LLMs to generate concept banks comparable to existing knowledge bases like ConceptNet, the sufficiency of unimodal text-based semantic similarity for evaluating concept-class label associations, and the effectiveness of multimodal information in quantifying concept generation quality compared to unimodal concept-label semantic similarity. Our findings reveal that multimodal models outperform unimodal approaches in capturing concept-class label similarity. Furthermore, our generated concepts for the CIFAR-10 and CIFAR-100 datasets surpass those obtained from ConceptNet and the baseline comparison, demonstrating the standalone capability of LLMs in generating highquality concepts. Being able to automatically generate and evaluate high-quality concepts will enable researchers to quickly adapt and iterate to a newer dataset with little to no effort before they can feed that into concept bottleneck models.

Automated citation graph building from a corpora of scientific documents
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2012, v. 4, no. 4, pp. 707-719

In this paper the problem of automated building of a citation graph from a collection of scientific documents is considered as a sequence of machine learning tasks. The overall data processing technology is described which consists of six stages: preprocessing, metainformation extraction, bibliography lists extraction, splitting bibliography lists into separate bibliography records, standardization of each bibliography record, and record linkage. The goal of this paper is to provide a survey of approaches and algorithms suitable for each stage, motivate the choice of the best combination of algorithms, and adapt some of them for multilingual bibliographies processing. For some of the tasks new algorithms and heuristics are proposed and evaluated on the mixed English and Russian documents corpora.

  8. Efficiency of production directly depends on quality of the management of technology which, in turn, relies on the accuracy and efficiency of the processing of control and measuring information. Development of the mathematical methods of research of the system communications and regularities of functioning and creation of the mathematical models taking into account structural features of object of researches, and also writing of the software products for realization of these methods are an actual task. Practice has shown that the list of parameters that take place in the study of complex object of modern production, ranging from a few dozen to several hundred names, and the degree of influence of each factor in the initial time is not clear. Before working for the direct determination of the model in these circumstances, it is impossible — the amount of the required information may be too great, and most of the work on the collection of this information will be done in vain due to the fact that the degree of influence on the optimization of most factors of the original list would be negligible. Therefore, a necessary step in determining a model of a complex object is to work to reduce the dimension of the factor space. Most industrial plants are hierarchical group processes and mass volume production, characterized by hundreds of factors. (For an example of realization of the mathematical methods and the approbation of the constructed models data of the Moldavian steel works were taken in a basis.) To investigate the systemic linkages and patterns of functioning of such complex objects are usually chosen several informative parameters, and carried out their sampling. In this article the sequence of coercion of the initial indices of the technological process of the smelting of steel to the look suitable for creation of a mathematical model for the purpose of prediction is described. The implementations of new types became also creation of a basis for development of the system of automated management of quality of the production. In the course of weak correlation the following stages are selected: collection and the analysis of the basic data, creation of the table the correlated of the parameters, abbreviation of factor space by means of the correlative pleiads and a method of weight factors. The received results allow to optimize process of creation of the model of multiple-factor process.

Comparison of the results of using various evolution algorithms to solve the problem of route optimization of unmanned vehicles
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2022, v. 14, no. 1, pp. 45-62

In this paper, a comparative analysis of the exact and heuristic algorithms presented by the method of branches and boundaries, genetic and ant algorithms, respectively, is carried out to find the optimal solution to the traveling salesman problem using the example of a courier robot. The purpose of the work is to determine the running time, the length of the obtained route and the amount of memory required for the program to work, using the method of branches and boundaries and evolutionary heuristic algorithms. Also, the most appropriate of the listed methods for use in the specified conditions is determined. This article uses the materials of the conducted research, implemented in the format of a computer program, the program code for which is implemented in Python. In the course of the study, a number of criteria for the applicability of algorithms were selected (the time of the program, the length of the constructed route and the amount of memory necessary for the program to work), the results of the algorithms were obtained under specified conditions and conclusions were drawn about the degree of expediency of using one or another algorithm in various specified conditions of the courier robot. During the study, it turned out that for a small number of points , the method of branches and boundaries is the most preferable, since it finds the optimal solution faster. However, when calculating the route by this method, provided that the points increase by more than 10, the operating time increases exponentially. In this case, more effective results are obtained by a heuristic approach using a genetic and ant algorithm. At the same time, the ant algorithm is distinguished by solutions that are closest to the reference ones and with an increase of more than 16 points. Its relative disadvantage is the greatest resource intensity among the considered algorithms. The genetic algorithm gives similar results, but after increasing the points more than 16, the length of the found route increases relative to the reference one. The advantage of the genetic algorithm is its lower resource intensity compared to other algorithms.

The practical significance of this article lies in the potential possibility of using the results obtained for the optimal solution of logistics problems by an automated system in various fields: warehouse logistics, transport logistics, «last mile» logistics, etc.

Development of the remotely piloted agricultural aircraft (RPAA) control system on the basis of the airplane MV-500
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2018, v. 10, no. 3, pp. 315-323

The article presents the intermediate results of the development of a control system for a remotely piloted agricultural aircraft (RPAA). The concept of using an automated complex for performing aerochemical work (ACW) designed for processing fields, water areas, forests with the purpose of protection from pests of plants, fertilization is developed. The basic component of the complex is a manned agricultural aircraft MV-500 developed by LLC “Firm “MVEN” (Kazan). The use of the aircraft in unmanned mode will provide an increase in the productivity of the aircraft, will increase the payload.

The article defines the composition of the complex for automation of ACW: aircraft, ground control center, onboard equipment for automated control of the aircraft and the formation of a map of the heights of the section being processed, and the satellite precise positioning system necessary to automate the control of the aircraft. The aircraft is equipped with an automated control system that provides remote control of take-off and landing and automatic control of the flight trajectory at extremely low altitude when performing ACW and performing spatial turns at the boundaries of the treated areas. It is proposed to take off, landing, dropping an aircraft into the ACW exercise area by means of a pilot operator from a ground control station. The ground control point should provide reception and display on the operator's screen of flight information and several types from the aircraft. The operator can control alternately several aircraft during these phases of flight with the help of ground control authorities. In the future, it is planned to automate these stages of flight, leaving behind the pilot-operator control functions and remote control capabilities in special cases. For the navigation of the aircraft, when performing ACW on board, RTK (Real Time Kinematic) equipment is installed, providing a measurement with centimeter accuracy of coordinates and aircraft heights relative to the base station installed in the ground control station. Before the implementation of ACW, a three-dimensional digital map of the processed area is built by adding existing cadastral maps with measurements of the elevations of the section carried out with the help of on-board radio and optical altimeters of the same aircraft.

To date, the following system components have been manufactured and tested: a remotely controlled model of the MV-500 aircraft at a scale of 1:5, a satellite positioning system; system for obtaining images and telemetry information from the board model; autopilot; methods of obtaining three-dimensional digital maps of sections and planning flight trajectories for ACW.
