Ray trajectories, binomial coefficients of a new type, and the binary system
Computer Research and Modeling, 2010, v. 2, no. 4, pp. 359-397Views (last year): 5. Citations: 1 (RSCI).The paper describes a new algorithm of construction of the nonlinear arithmetic triangle on the basis of numerical simulation and the binary system. It demonstrates that the numbers that fill the nonlinear arithmetic triangle may be binomial coefficients of a new type. An analogy has been drawn with the binomial coefficients calculated with the use of the Pascal triangle. The paper provides a geometrical interpretation of binomials of different types in considering the branching systems of rays.

Global bifurcation analysis of a quartic predator–prey model
Computer Research and Modeling, 2011, v. 3, no. 2, pp. 125-134Views (last year): 5. Citations: 3 (RSCI).We complete the global bifurcation analysis of a quartic predator–prey model. In particular, studying global bifurcations of singular points and limit cycles, we prove that the corresponding dynamical system has at most two limit cycles.

The stoichiometry of metabolic pathways in the dynamics of cellular populations
Computer Research and Modeling, 2011, v. 3, no. 4, pp. 455-475Views (last year): 5. Citations: 1 (RSCI).The problem has been considered, to what extent the kinetic models of cellular metabolism fit the matter which they describe. Foundations of stoichiometry of the whole metabolism and its large regions have been stated. A bioenergetic representation of stoichiometry based on a universal unit of chemical compound reductivity, viz., redoxon, has been described. Equations of mass-energy balance (bioenergetic variant of stoichiometry) have been derived for metabolic flows including those of protons possessing high electrochemical potential μH+, and high-energy compounds. Interrelations have been obtained which determine the biomass yield, rate of uptake of energy source for cell growth and other important physiological quantities as functions of biochemical characteristics of cellular energetics. The maximum biomass energy yield values have been calculated for different energy sources utilized by cells. These values coincide with those measured experimentally.

A quasi-periodic two-component dynamical model for cardio-signal synthesis using time-series and the fourth-order Runge–Kutta method
Computer Research and Modeling, 2012, v. 4, no. 1, pp. 143-154Views (last year): 5. Citations: 6 (RSCI).In the article, a quasi-periodic two-component dynamical model with possibility of defining the cardio-cycle morphology, that provides the model with an ability of generating a temporal and a spectral cardiosignal characteristics, including heart rate variability is described. A technique for determining the cardio-cycle morphology to provide realistic cardio-signal form is defined. A method for defining cardio-signal dynamical system by the way of determining a three-dimensional state space and equations which describe a trajectory of point’s motion in this space is presented. A technique for solving equations of motion in the three-dimensional state space of dynamical cardio-signal system using the fourth-order Runge–Kutta method is presented. Based on this model, algorithm and software package are developed. Using software package, a cardio-signal synthesis experiment is conducted and the relationship of cardio-signal diagnostic features is analyzed.

Analysis of simplifications of numerical schemes for Langevin equation, effect of variations in the correlation of augmentations
Computer Research and Modeling, 2012, v. 4, no. 2, pp. 325-338Views (last year): 5. Citations: 4 (RSCI).The possibility to simplify the integration of Langevin equation using the variation of correlation between augmentation was researched. The analytical expression for a set of numerical schemes is presented. It’s shown that asymptotic limits for squared velocity depend on step size. The region of convergence and the convergence orders were estimated. It turned out that the incorrect correlation between increments decrease the accuracy down to the level of first-order methods for schemes based on precise solution.

Simulation modeling of directed movement in illumination gradient
Computer Research and Modeling, 2012, v. 4, no. 2, pp. 401-406Views (last year): 5.Simulation multiagent model of artificial life was created. Competitive ad-vantages of directed movement and diverse strategies of its using in population of protozoa in illumination gradient were considered. The results consistent with r-K selection theory were obtained. Agents behavior in artificial ecosystem are in qualitative agreement with behavior observed in nature.

Solution of optimization problem of wood fuel facility location by the thermal energy cost criterion
Computer Research and Modeling, 2012, v. 4, no. 3, pp. 651-659Views (last year): 5. Citations: 2 (RSCI).The paper contains a mathematical model for the optimal location of enterprises producing fuel from renewable wood waste for the regional distributed heating supply system. Optimization is based on total cost minimization of the end product – the thermal energy from wood fuel. A method for solving the problem is based on genetic algorithm. The paper also shows the practical results of the model by example of Udmurt Republic.

Automated citation graph building from a corpora of scientific documents
Computer Research and Modeling, 2012, v. 4, no. 4, pp. 707-719Views (last year): 5. Citations: 1 (RSCI).In this paper the problem of automated building of a citation graph from a collection of scientific documents is considered as a sequence of machine learning tasks. The overall data processing technology is described which consists of six stages: preprocessing, metainformation extraction, bibliography lists extraction, splitting bibliography lists into separate bibliography records, standardization of each bibliography record, and record linkage. The goal of this paper is to provide a survey of approaches and algorithms suitable for each stage, motivate the choice of the best combination of algorithms, and adapt some of them for multilingual bibliographies processing. For some of the tasks new algorithms and heuristics are proposed and evaluated on the mixed English and Russian documents corpora.

The use of finite element method for simulation of heat conductivity processes in polar dielectrics irradiated by electron bunches
Computer Research and Modeling, 2012, v. 4, no. 4, pp. 767-780Views (last year): 5. Citations: 3 (RSCI).The paper describes the results of computer simulation of time-dependent temperature fields arising in polar dielectrics irradiated by focused electron bunches with average electron energy when analyzing with electron microscopy techniques. The mathematical model was based on solving several-dimensional nonstationary heat conduction equation with use of numerical finite element method. The approximation of thermal source was performed taking into account the estimation of initial electron distribution determined by Monte-Carlo simulation of electron trajectories. The simulation program was designed in Matlab. The geometrical modeling and calculation results demonstrated the main features of model sample heating by electron beam were presented at the given experimental parameters as well as source approximation.
