The model of switching mode of reproduction with a continuous set of production subsystems under the conditions of balanced growth
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2025, v. 17, no. 3, pp. 501-519

This paper presents new research results that have been conducted at the Institute of Economics of the Russian Academy of Sciences since 2011 under the leadership of Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences V. I.Mayevsky. These works are aimed at developing the theory of switching mode of reproduction and corresponding mathematical models, the peculiarity of which is that they explicitly model the interaction of the financial and real sectors of the economy, and the country’s economy itself is not disaggregated according to the sectoral principle (engineering, agriculture, services, etc.), but by production subsystems that differ from each other by the age of the fixed capital. One of the mathematical difficulties of working with such models, called models of switching mode of reproduction (SMR), is the difficulty of modeling competitive relationships between subsystems of different “ages”. Therefore, until now, the interaction of a finite number of production subsystems has been considered in the SMR models, the models themselves were of a discrete-continuous nature, calculations were done exclusively on computers, and obtaining analytical dependencies was difficult. This paper shows that for the special case of balanced economic growth and a continuum of production subsystems, it is possible to obtain analytical expressions that allow a better understanding of the impact of monetary policy on economic dynamics. In addition to purely scientific interest, this is of great practical importance, since it allows us to assess the possible reaction of the real sector of the economy to changes in the monetary sphere without conducting complex simulation calculations.

Research on the achievability of a goal in a medical quest
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2025, v. 17, no. 6, pp. 1149-1179

The work presents an experimental study of the tree structure that occurs during a medical examination. At each meeting with a medical specialist, the patient receives a certain number of areas for consulting other specialists or for tests. A tree of directions arises, each branch of which the patient should pass. Depending on the branching of the tree, it can be as final — and in this case the examination can be completed — and endless when the patient’s goal cannot be achieved. In the work both experimentally and theoretically studied the critical properties of the transition of the system from the forest of the final trees to the forest endless, depending on the probabilistic characteristics of the tree.

For the description, a model is proposed in which a discrete function of the probability of the number of branches on the node repeats the dynamics of a continuous gaussian distribution. The characteristics of the distribution of the Gauss (mathematical expectation of $x_0$, the average quadratic deviation of $\sigma$) are model parameters. In the selected setting, the task refers to the problems of branching random processes (BRP) in the heterogeneous model of Galton – Watson.

Experimental study is carried out by numerical modeling on the final grilles. A phase diagram was built, the boundaries of areas of various phases are determined. A comparison was made with the phase diagram obtained from theoretical criteria for macrosystems, and an adequate correspondence was established. It is shown that on the final grilles the transition is blurry.

The description of the blurry phase transition was carried out using two approaches. In the first, standard approach, the transition is described using the so-called inclusion function, which makes the meaning of the share of one of the phases in the general set. It was established that such an approach in this system is ineffective, since the found position of the conditional boundary of the blurred transition is determined only by the size of the chosen experimental lattice and does not bear objective meaning.

The second, original approach is proposed, based on the introduction of an parameter of order equal to the reverse average tree height, and the analysis of its behavior. It was established that the dynamics of such an order parameter in the $\sigma = \text{const}$ section with very small differences has the type of distribution of Fermi – Dirac ($\sigma$ performs the same function as the temperature for the distribution of Fermi – Dirac, $x_0$ — energy function). An empirical expression has been selected for the order parameter, an analogue of the chemical potential is introduced and calculated, which makes sense of the characteristic scale of the order parameter — that is, the values of $x_0$, in which the order can be considered a disorder. This criterion is the basis for determining the boundary of the conditional transition in this approach. It was established that this boundary corresponds to the average height of a tree equal to two generations. Based on the found properties, recommendations for medical institutions are proposed to control the provision of limb of the path of patients.

The model discussed and its description using conditionally-infinite trees have applications to many hierarchical systems. These systems include: internet routing networks, bureaucratic networks, trade and logistics networks, citation networks, game strategies, population dynamics problems, and others.

Using Docker service containers to build browser-based clinical decision support systems (CDSS)
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2026, v. 18, no. 1, pp. 133-147

The article presents a technology for building clinical decision support systems (CDSS) based on service containers using Docker and a web interface that runs directly in the browser without installing specialized software on workstation of a clinician. A modular architecture is proposed in which each application module is packaged as an independent service container combining a lightweight web server, a user interface, and computational components for medical image processing. Communication between the browser and the server side is implemented via a persistent bidirectional WebSocket connection with binary message serialization (MessagePack), which provides low latency and efficient transfer of large data. For local storage of images and analysis of results, browser facilities (IndexedDB with the Dexie.js wrapper) are used to speed up repeated data access. Three-dimensional visualization and basic operations with DICOM data are implemented with Three.js and AMI.js: this toolchain supports the integration of interactive elements arising from the task context (annotations, landmarks, markers, 3D models) into volumetric medical images.

Server components and functional modules are assembled as a set of interacting containers managed by Docker. The paper discusses the choice of base images, approaches to minimizing containers down to runtime-only executables without external utilities, and the organization of multi-stage builds with a dedicated build container. It describes a hub service that launches application containers on user request, performs request proxying, manages sessions, and switches a container from shared to exclusive mode at the start of computations. Examples of application modules are provided (fractional flow reserve estimation, quantitative flow ratio computation, aortic valve closure modeling), along with the integration of a React-based interface with a three-dimensional scene, a versioning policy, automated reproducibility checks, and the deployment procedure on the target platform.

It is demonstrated that containerization ensures portability and reproducibility of the software environment, dependency isolation and scalability, while the browser-based interface provides accessibility, reduced infrastructure requirements, and interactive real-time visualization of medical data. Technical limitations are noted (dependence on versions of visualization libraries and data formats) together with practical mitigation measures.

Numerical modeling of the occurrence of a stress peak during the reflection of a shock wave pulse from a granular porous medium
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2026, v. 18, no. 2, pp. 359-375

The study of elastic waves in porous media is relevant for mineral exploration, the use of porous screens for shock wave damping, and the study of the structure of the earth’s crust. The elastic properties of a porous medium, which can be judged by the propagation velocity of various types of waves, depend on the degree of consolidation of the porous medium. For example, bulk media (sand, glass beads, granular materials) have a low sound velocity (about 100 m/s); compaction of such media is accompanied by a slight increase in velocity, while their consolidation (sandstone, gas hydrate cementation) leads to a multiple increase in the acoustic wave velocity, on the order of 2000–3000 m/s. This paper theoretically investigates the dynamics of a wave pulse in a shock tube containing a layer of a bulk medium. Numerical modeling was performed under experimental conditions. A description of a shock tube experimental setup is provided. The setup consists of a high-pressure volume (HPV), a low-pressure volume (LPV), and a bulk medium section. A shock wave pulse (SWP) is generated by the rupture of a diaphragm between the HPV and LPV. The SWP dynamics are recorded by piezoelectric sensors located flush on the inside of the tube. In the shock tube, equipped with a bulk medium section, the wave experiences multiple reflections from the surface of the porous medium under study and the upper end of the tube. The reflected signals are used as probe pulses to study changes in the porous medium caused by repeated passages of the shock wave pulse, with a period of approximately 10 ms. A mathematical model is used that includes the equations of conservation of mass, momentum, and energy for the gas phase and solid particles with closure relations. The process is described for one-dimensional planar motion of the gas and dispersed phases. The numerical solution utilizes an approximation of the equations based on the control volume method. Numerical results have shown that the proposed model accurately describes, qualitatively and quantitatively, the occurrence of a sharp, short-term increase in the total voltage (peak) during repeated pulse passage through a layer of bulk material, as observed in experiments.

Design-optimized YOLO11 classification via strategic CBAM attention injection and Grad-CAM explainability for reliable plant disease diagnosis
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2026, v. 18, no. 4, pp. 871-889

Reliable plant disease diagnosis requires not only high classification accuracy, but also stable generalization and interpretable decision-making. Although attention mechanisms are useful to these deep learning models, the performance also depends on where and how they are integrated into the network architecture. This study presents a design-optimized YOLO11m-based classification framework that systematically investigates the impact of Convolutional Block Attention Module (CBAM) injection at different architectural levels for plant disease diagnosis. We perform a comparative modelcontrolled analysis of three model architectures: (i) the baseline YOLO11m-Cls architecture lacking attention, (ii) only adding the backbone block along with CBAM and (iii) a hybrid architecture that includes reduced backbone attention combined with CBAM added at classification head. All models are trained and tested under the same experimental settings using a largescale dataset with around 90 000 images of 38 types of plant diseases. Experimental results clearly show that the uniform injection of CBAM into the backbone reduces stability but causes generalization to worsen with a higher validation loss and significantly lower Top-1 accuracy (≈ 90.5%), while the hybrid attention design balances stability and discrimination, with Top-1 accuracy up to 99.71%, Top-5 accuracy up to 99.99% and near-baseline validation behavior respectively Grad-CAMbased interpretability analysis also demonstrates that the hybrid model generates enhanced and biologically interpretable activation maps, which are more disease-specific with less distraction from background. Notably, the aim of our work is not for achieving superior performance over all classifiers but instead only to provide design-level evidence on how placing attention modulates rigidity and interpretability in YOLO-based classification models. The results provide practical architectural considerations for building dependable and interpretable AI systems in agriculture.

Investigation of complex formation of flavodoxin and photosystem 1 by means of direct multiparticle computer simulation
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2009, v. 1, no. 1, pp. 85-91

Kinetics of complex formation between components of the photosynthetic electron transport chain — flavodoxin and membrane complex photosystem I has been studied using computer model based on methods of multiparticle simulation and Brownian dynamics. We simulated Brownian motion of several hundreds of flavodoxin molecules, taking into account electrostatic interactions and complex shape of the molecules. Our model could describe experimental nonmonotonic dependence of the association rate constant for flavodoxin and photosystem I. This lets us conclude that electrostatic interactions are sufficient to form such kind of nonmonotonic dependence.

The long-term empirical macro model of world dynamics
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2013, v. 5, no. 5, pp. 883-891

The work discusses the methodological basis and problems of modeling of world dynamics. Outlines approaches to the construction of a new simulation model of global development and the results of the simulation. The basis of the model building is laid empirical approach which based on the statistical analysis of the main socio-economic indicators. On the basis of this analysis identified the main variables. Dynamic equations (in continuous differential form) were written for these variables. Dependencies between variables were selected based on the dynamics of indicators in the past and on the basis of expert assessments, while econometric techniques were used, based on regression analysis. Calculations have been performed for the resulting dynamic equations system, the results are presented in the form of a trajectories beam for those indicators that are directly observable, and for which statistics are available. Thus, it is possible to assess the scatter of the trajectories and understand the predictive capability of this model.

Modeling of plankton community state with density-dependent death and spatial activity of zooplankton
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2016, v. 8, no. 3, pp. 549-560

A vertically distributed three-component model of marine ecosystem is considered. State of the plankton community with nutrients is analyzed under the active movement of zooplankton in a vertical column of water. The necessary conditions of the Turing instability in the vicinity of the spatially homogeneous equilibrium are obtained. Stability of the spatially homogeneous equilibrium, the Turing instability and the oscillatory instability are examined depending on the biological characteristics of zooplankton and spatial movement of plankton. It is shown that at low values of zooplankton grazing rate and intratrophic interaction rate the system is Turing instable when the taxis rate is low. Stabilization occurs either through increased decline of zooplankton either by increasing the phytoplankton diffusion. With the increasing rate of consumption of phytoplankton range of parameters that determine the stability is reduced. A type of instability depends on the phytoplankton diffusion. For large values of diffusion oscillatory instability is observed, with a decrease in the phytoplankton diffusion zone of Turing instability is increases. In general, if zooplankton grazing rate is faster than phytoplankton growth rate the spatially homogeneous equilibrium is Turing instable or oscillatory instable. Stability is observed only at high speeds of zooplankton departure or its active movements. With the increase in zooplankton search activity spatial distribution of populations becomes more uniform, increasing the rate of diffusion leads to non-uniform spatial distribution. However, under diffusion the total number of the population is stabilized when the zooplankton grazing rate above the rate of phytoplankton growth. In general, at low rate of phytoplankton consumption the spatial structures formation is possible at low rates of zooplankton decline and diffusion of all the plankton community. With the increase in phytoplankton predation rate the phytoplankton diffusion and zooplankton spatial movement has essential effect on the spatial instability.

Numerical investigations of mixing non-isothermal streams of sodium coolant in T-branch
    Computer Research and Modeling, 2017, v. 9, no. 1, pp. 95-110

Numerical investigation of mixing non-isothermal streams of sodium coolant in a T-branch is carried out in the FlowVision CFD software. This study is aimed at argumentation of applicability of different approaches to prediction of oscillating behavior of the flow in the mixing zone and simulation of temperature pulsations. The following approaches are considered: URANS (Unsteady Reynolds Averaged Navier Stokers), LES (Large Eddy Simulation) and quasi-DNS (Direct Numerical Simulation). One of the main tasks of the work is detection of the advantages and drawbacks of the aforementioned approaches.

Numerical investigation of temperature pulsations, arising in the liquid and T-branch walls from the mixing of non-isothermal streams of sodium coolant was carried out within a mathematical model assuming that the flow is turbulent, the fluid density does not depend on pressure, and that heat exchange proceeds between the coolant and T-branch walls. Model LMS designed for modeling turbulent heat transfer was used in the calculations within URANS approach. The model allows calculation of the Prandtl number distribution over the computational domain.

Preliminary study was dedicated to estimation of the influence of computational grid on the development of oscillating flow and character of temperature pulsation within the aforementioned approaches. The study resulted in formulation of criteria for grid generation for each approach.

Then, calculations of three flow regimes have been carried out. The regimes differ by the ratios of the sodium mass flow rates and temperatures at the T-branch inlets. Each regime was calculated with use of the URANS, LES and quasi-DNS approaches.

At the final stage of the work analytical comparison of numerical and experimental data was performed. Advantages and drawbacks of each approach to simulation of mixing non-isothermal streams of sodium coolant in the T-branch are revealed and formulated.

It is shown that the URANS approach predicts the mean temperature distribution with a reasonable accuracy. It requires essentially less computational and time resources compared to the LES and DNS approaches. The drawback of this approach is that it does not reproduce pulsations of velocity, pressure and temperature.

The LES and DNS approaches also predict the mean temperature with a reasonable accuracy. They provide oscillating solutions. The obtained amplitudes of the temperature pulsations exceed the experimental ones. The spectral power densities in the check points inside the sodium flow agree well with the experimental data. However, the expenses of the computational and time resources essentially exceed those for the URANS approach in the performed numerical experiments: 350 times for LES and 1500 times for ·DNS.
